Let me preface this by stating that this review does NOT factor in getting an actual tattoo...because I was never able to actually receive one. I'm writing this strictly on a customer service perspective.I started out by reaching out to the primary email: lookingglasstattoos@gmai… in EARLY JULY. I was very thorough in my details of what I was requesting, and hoped to have my questions answered as it was my first time getting a tattoo. A few days passed with no response. I live about two hours away from the shop so it was difficult to meet with them face to face.I just happened to be in the area about a week later so I decided to stop by to see if my request was being looked at. When I stopped in I mentioned my email and the employee had full knowledge of it, answered my questions, but also said the books were closed until about September/October and finished up by saying my email would be replied to within a few days.Fast forward to END OF JULY, and there was still no response to my initial email sent in the BEGINNING OF JULY. I decided to follow up with a second email and ask if my request was being looked at.Again, I waited with no response to either of the two emails, and by end of the FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST, I decided to reach out to another email:
[email protected]…, stating if someone could just give me some type of details regarding a consultation/appointment..anything. I was just really eager to get some type of flow going and was fully ready to comply with any requests they needed of mine, but it grew concerning that this would be my third email in a month without a reply.Once again, no response came through, and at this point it's about the END OF AUGUST and I decide to call, mentioning my three emails. They were fully aware of my request before I could even get into details of what my email was about! She mentioned there would be a new booking system and that since I waited a while, my request would be prioritized before others. I finally received a follow up email saying the books would be open in the first week of September and that I should be hearing back from them within the following week.I, of course, took that message with a grain of salt and didn't want to get my hopes up. A few weeks passed and I eventually just decided this process wasn't worth it anymore after noticing no sign of action on their side. It is now almost the MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER at the time of this writing and the fact that I was not able to receive any consultation whatsoever after my very first inquiry in JULY blows my mind. What's worse is that the two times I had real time communication (in-person and phone) the shop fully acknowledged that my request was received and would be tendered to.I'm aware that this shop is popular as a result of the fine work that comes from it and that I would need to wait for my time, but not responding to simple emails and not keeping promises that a customer's requests will be taken care of for MONTHS is very displeasing. This is the first time I reached out to any tattoo shop with it being my first tattoo, so I wasn't sure if this was the norm or just bad service. I realized it was the latter when I contacted a very very popular shop in NYC about a similar request and they responded to my email in ONE DAY.It's very discouraging to see so many great reviews of this place as well as the beautiful work that continuously pops up on their social media feeds, because it only ends up making me feel as if I was personally shafted. By no means did I use any derogatory or distasteful words in any of my emails so I'm not sure what exactly constituted to not keeping in touch with an incredibly eager customer trying to use your services. I will finish up by saying: the shop is beautifully designed and clean, the employee I talked to was overall nice and very informative, the work looks absolutely fantastic in the pictures, and I trust that these artists are truly experts at what they do. I just hope other customers can get their foot in the door with them first.
