It was my first tattoo experience, I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. But I quickly became comfortable since everyone there was so welcoming and helpful. I've been waiting for about 4 years to get my first tattoo from Ian, I've always loved his work. I came in looking to have an old tattoo covered. I did some research into different shops, and found a lot of good reviews for this place, and for Ian especially. I’m so glad that I chose Barton Ink! In January I had an epic tattoo done by Vaughn. Its so clean and just what I wanted :D This past week I had 2 piercings done by the lovely Jennifer and I am so glad I came back to Barton Ink for those. Ian did a matching tattoo for my best friend and myself. We told him what we wanted and the design he did knocked our socks off. We knew what we wanted but gave Ian such a vague description. He went right to work designing it using our ideas and came up with the perfect tattoo. Such a great artist with an eye for detail. Needless to say, our tattoos came out exactly how we wanted. Even though we knew the elements of it, Ian incorporated all our ideas and it was his vision in putting it together that made it perfect. The shop is clean and professional. Absolutely great experience. Wonderful team and comfortable environment. Last year, I had gone in set up an appointment with Ian, but on a whim took up another artist's offer who happened to have an open chair. It was my fault for being so impulsive and getting work done from an artist I didn't know, but in the end, I wasn't the happiest with how my tattoo came out. So I called to make an appointment to get a touch up recently, and was told that the artist that orignally did my piece no longer worked there, but Ian would be happen to fix me up. Coming into the appointment and talking with Ian about how he was going to clean up my piece put me completely at ease. He apologized profusely about my prior experience at their shop (again, I totally take full blame), and was super easy to talk to. Ian made my tattoo so much cleaner and exactly how it was supposed to be in the first place. He turned it into something that I'm proud to show off! A lot of the bad reviews are due to people who no longer work there and it is sad as this establishment has some of the most talented tattoo artist currently working there from around the area. Ian is a amazing artist with a true talent. Ian agonizes over every detail of the tattoo to make sure it is what you want, how you want it, and where you want it. The level of detail and attention I have in my chest piece is something I have not gotten from other artists in the past. I have sat in a chair for two sleeves, two calves, and an entire back piece and Ian and his shop is by far the best one I have been to in terms far quality, artistry, atmosphere, and price. Be prepared to wait for any one of their artists to open up though since great artist tend to book weeks to months in advance. This shop is no different. You sometimes have to wait and pay for a true artist, and if you are not willing to, you might want to reconsider putting something permanent on your body.
