I do not recommend Spike O Matic. I had a consult with one of the artists in December, and we scheduled for March. I was happy to wait because of the artist. The day of the appointment came and I never once heard back from the artist. She went completely dark on me. I had emailed her several times prior to the tattoo date and never once got a response. Granted, I've only been tattooed by two of the artists here (Claire & Kelty) but they've both done fantastic work on me and create a comforting environment. Spike has been very nice to me too, one time he even gave me half of a hug. Kelty gives me hugs too, Claire hasn't hugged me, but i think it's because she's pretty gassy, but thats a talk for a different time. Get tattooed here Read Less

In the past I had been loyal to another shop in Madison. After a couple bad interactions there I searched and searched for a new place for 'therapy'. I came across Zach's work online and didn't look back. Every email, phone call, and visit was great. I think I've definitely found my new go-to place. Spike-o-Matic has everything You are looking for in a tattoo shop. The premises are clean, orderly and offer private studio space for those looking for work in the more discreet areas. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, care about their craft and have impeccable spelling skills. I've received beautiful custom tattoos by Claire Warhaus and I'm more than pleased with the outcome. I look forward to my next visit as soon as I walk out their door. The also have an incredible portrait artist! So dust of the family photos. No jacked up baby portraits are walking out of this place. Spike-O-Matic is a great shop, nothing but good things to say! I've gone to the beautiful and talented Claire for numerous tattoos over the past six months, dang just counted them up 5 tats in the past half year, because she's that good. She does amazing original artwork and is a just all around lovely person. The shop always has candy to greet me and keep my blood sugar up. I just finished getting my fourth tattoo from Claire. I've also gotten a little banger from Kelty. Every time the experience has been outstanding. It's like a great hangout session where you get a permanent piece of skin art. The work is phenomenal. Whatever style you want it appears they have someone who can tackle it. The vibe in shop is great. Everyone is professional, the shop is clean, and there are great examples of flash everywhere to grab inspiration from. I cannot recommend them enough. I've had three tattoos done at Spike-O-Matic, all by Claire. Her artwork is stunning and she takes the time to really understand and create what you want. She's given me pieces of art that are a reflection of me that I will have forever. You can tell a lot about a shop by the people they employ and even though I've only had work done by Claire, the other artists I've met there are just as amazing. The shop is clean, well lit, and friendly. Every precaution is taken when setting up and they spare no detail. It's one of the most organized and well run shops that I've been to. I had something pretty set in my mind and a couple recommendations of a good establishment so I hit up Spike-o-matic's on a whim. Jason was my tatto artist and I cannot speak highly enough. He listened to my ideas and then we discussed them at length. He presented concerns that I hadn't considered and professionally guided me toward a design that would hold up well over the years. Since I wanted a memorial tattoo on my inner forearm and I had no other visible tattoos, Jason questioned me thoroughly to make sure I truly understood the finality of my choice. He shared his own experience with memorial tattoos and gave me every opportunity to rethink my decision. I really respected his professionalism throughout the entire process. I absolutely disagree with the way you have trained your team members as far as service skills go. I called to ask a few questions about piercing prices to see what I would walk into your establishment to get two piercings done in the same session. I was imminently disappointed when I had to look all over the place to find the number, because it was not displayed on your website! But it could be my fault because it could be displayed on there somewhere and I just couldn't find it. *hint* You should probably put your number in plain sight that way people like me can find it easy. Saves them the struggle. I was then disappointed when I had dialed the number and I got through to someone that the person I spoke with said that I would have to speak with "The piercer" And of course I am wondering how I am supposed to talk to the piercer if I called the right number. The guy at the front desk that picked up the phone gave me a separate number to call. I called that number instead, Where the piercer picked up. Now when she did, I was highly upset and disappointed with the way she answered the phone and how she handled the call overall. She did not give me her name, so I did not know who I was speaking with, She was very rude when answering my questions. Like I was bothering her in some kind of way. I could hear her sigh at me after I asked my second question. I advise to retrain your crew or team members because I will tell you now that because of that phone call It has ceased all my interest in your company. I will not be getting a piercing with you guys and I will not be spreading the word positively about your business.Read Less
