I came here maybe 10 years ago for a naval piercing. It turned out great and I had a good experience then. Since then, I have had the same navel ring all these years! Just recently I finally lost the top bead to hold it on, and of course had a pool party that day. I scooted back over to blue lotus maybe 1 hour after they opened to buy a new ring from them. Unfortunately the front desk girl was not very nice or helpful... I told her I needed to pick up a new ring quick and she told me that the only piercer was busy, there were 2 other people in front of me w/ appts, and he was the only one who could sell them to me (yes I am aware this is the law/rules whatever, no issue with that) so I'd have to wait. Didn't really say hi or have a nice tone to her voice for someone coming in saying they needed to buy something from them. The front desk girl also didn't get up from her chair to even try to help me pick anything out or tell me prices.You'd think that they could maybe just help me pick one out and all the piercer would need to do is double check it in between his other appointments just to get me out of there and not lose business. Since I didn't know how long the wait would be, I just left (without the girl saying anything as I walked out...) and went up the street to another tattoo & piercing place. Walked in, had their piercer help me after just 10mins or less, and was on my merry way. This place is great! Three of us wanted a set of ears pierced and called in. There was some miscommunication with what exactly we called in for (our fault) and they were able to book us a time a couple hours later. The mall is next door so this wasn't a big deal at all! JB was the one who helped all of us. Right off the bat I told him I was the scaredy cat and he was super nice about everything. They charge you based on the earring you choose, I went with a smaller diamond type and the guys chose a larger one. Everything is clean and they tell exactly when they are about to do everything. They first draw the mark, see if it looks good to you, count down, and even let people sit in there with you for support. It was over in no time!! I will never go anywhere else for tattoos/piercings now that I have discovered Blue Lotus. Jack has done 3 tattoos for me, and I wish I could go back in time about 15 years and have my first tattoos done by him too. He is so talented and easy to work with. I'm not by any means an artistic person, so when I tell Jack what I have in mind, he works with me to give me the best possible version of my idea, and it always comes out even better than I imagined. I don't have a lot of piercing experience, other than I recently got my nose pierced by Myke and he did a fantastic job. He had me follow up with him a couple of times to make sure everything was healing properly, he made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. I went in today to look into getting higher gauge lobe piercings to get a bit of a head start on my stretching adventure. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, unfortunately I don’t remember her name. She set me up with Myke to learn everything I had to about what I was wanting to do. I came in last weekend for a tattoo cover up with Jesse at the Odana location. The shop is clean and organized, and every time I came in I was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member. I had been told by previous tattoo artists that my options for covering up my tattoo were very limited due to the location and thickness of the lines. Jesse looked at the pictures I brought in and said he could make it work. He was really receptive and helpful during our consults, and my tattoo turned out better than I ever could have expected. I've gotten all my piercings here, I forgot his name but he's really nice and cool every time I see him. The one small tattoo I got there cost me $90 (plus I tipped an extra $20) when a couple other tattoo places told me that it should have easily been $60. Then my second fairly small tattoo cost $120 (plus tip) when again, should have definitely been under $100 and dude was extremely cocky and rude. Now that I've been to other places and gotten more tattoos over the years, I know a bit more about pricing and I'm confident to say that they are way too damn expensive. On another note, they are very clean and particular with their sanitation. That's a great quality they have there. Absolutely amazing!!! I had them recently switch out a poor piece of nose jewelry that after 2 months had started to tarnish and affect my piercing (pierced at another establishment) ...they swapped it out and I have had no issues since! I went to see John Kid for a septum piercing yesterday. I was a tad nervous as I only have my earlobes pierced and that was during childhood with a wretched piercing gun. After assesing my septum, he let me know that my piercing would be a bit tricky and that it was even a possibility it might not work out. My septum is pretty darn crooked. But he also told me he was up to the challenge if I was. He took his time figuring out how to pierce my wonky septum and truly made me feel at ease throughout the whole process. In the end it was a success in just one try! I am so happy with how it looks. I 100% recommend John after my experience yesterday. I have had both piercings and tattoo experiences with Blue Lotus...they are extraordinary in every way!!! Just to be clear, this review is based on the Odana location and I've never had any experience with the downtown location so I cannot speak for that one at all. The Sun Prairie location is due to open in a couple of weeks however not open at this time. Starting with the receptionist, they have always been so friendly and polite. Helpful with information! Piercings; I've h...ad nose and tragus piercings done here and both times were with Myke. He's awesome!! He made sure I was comfortable, he's knowledgeable and when I did my nose he resized the rod in my tragus on a whim! I recommend Myke for any piercing needs!! Tattoos; I've had one so far and another one scheduled. My husband's had one and is already planning his next one. And my daughter has had two...all done by Jesse. OMG!!! After seeing all the amazing reviews for Blue Lotus, I made an appointment for a nostril piercing at the downtown location. I received the absolute worst reception from the piercer that I've ever gotten from any shop I've ever walked into. He (unfortunately, I didn't get his name) was incredibly rude, rushing through the available jewelry choices, giving one word dismissive responses to the questions we had, and generally making it very clear that he did not want to be bothered with us. And he came out with his gloves already on - touching cabinets, drawers, jewelry, etc. Was he going to pierce one of us in those now dirty gloves? Of course, we left. What a shop! I've been wanting a triple forward helix for some time. I just never plan, it's always a last minute decision. I was able to call the downtown shop and a half hour later I was chosing jewelry. As much as I hate driving into downtown Madison, I will certainly be back. Everyone was welcoming and very accommodating. I was impressed with the certifications posted on the wall, the room was so bright and clean. Eric was my piercer and a gentleman at that. I never once... felt uncomfortable, nervous, nor questioned whether I wanted to back out. I actually think he was more excited than I was lol. I was impressed on how well he maintained cleanliness. Came in because of up my dermal anchors ripped out a few months ago and I was really ready to replace it. I came to the right place!! My ear piercings had closed to so I had those fixed while I was at it too. Paid $130 before tip for the anchor, jewelry for it as well as earrings, and labor for everything- which I felt was reasonable, especially since the guy who did it, did it very quickly, painlessly, and evenly, and was really sweet. He's such a good time when you're getting a piercing done, and he makes things as quick/painless as possible. I recieved a tattoo from here about a year ago. I loved the design of my tattoo. It turned out better than what I expected. The colors are amzing, but the only problem was that I ended up with a tattoo blowout. I don't know if he just pushed the needle harder than what should of been, which a professional should know. I went in for a nose piercing by Holly, but due to a car accident she was detained and Eric stepped in to help her out, it's obvious the folks there take care of each other and their clients, it was awesome to see. Tattoo: Very simple design, and they did a hack job. Had to get it covered later. Septum Piercing: Great job, piercers are great and experienced. Customer Service: Terrible, people (front desk/artists) there are simply rude and unwelcoming. I understand it's a tattoo shop, it's not going to be a salon, but being condescending and acting annoyed with a customer is not okay for any sort of service shop. I really want to like this place. I've been here three times for piercings, and every time my piercers have been extremely friendly and professional and do fine jobs. The problem is that every time I've gone in, I've been extremely misled as to what the price will be until it's time to pay. At my most recent visit, I got a double helix piercing done. I was told that the jewelry I was choosing was something around $19 each, the piercing performed by the apprentice piercer wou...ld be $10, and the second piercing would be "full price". In my wildest dreams I would have never guessed that a double helix with one of the pokes being performed by an apprentice would run me $106, and yet, that was my bill. Of the three appointments I've had, never have I been told the price of jewelry without asking, nor have I been told what my totals would be beforehand. It almost seems intentional. I'm a little slow been pretty busy to post.  Anyway!  Myke pierced my nose, helped pick the right jewelry and listened to what I wanted in a stone and all the mechanics on how everything works and what to expect. I selected a stone but didn't like it.  I picked out another stone it was a diamond and it was perfect!!  My boyfriend was with me and he got one of his ears pierced "he was impresses with Myke, the piercing lounge just the all around friendliness of everyone that worked there.  We will both be back to see what magic Myke can do for us in piercing us!
