I’ve taken two of my little girls to get their ears pierced here. My oldest two I took to Claire’s in the mall, which was not the greatest experience and one of them never healed properly. Our experience at Proper Pokes was superb. It was less painful, they healed beautifully, and was such a great and calming atmosphere. Went back with a friend and she got her ears pierced too! I finally bit the bullet and brought myself to get my nipples pierced. I was so nervous. Matt and his apprentice were 1000% professional and did an amazing job.

Just needed to write a quick review. Back story: Had two ear piercings done in Denver at a high end place ($189...what?!) about a month ago. My conch piercing swelled up yesterday and I had significant pain, worse this morning. I called another shop that didn't have much to tell me and was recommended to Proper Pokes. He (as in I didn't catch his name because he graciously fit me in) looked at my ear and told me the earring needed to come out sooner rather than later and it'd only make it worse if I left it (cut it out). I was hesitant and though painful, they took great and urgent care of me today. I'm not sure if I'm going to get the piercing redone but there are others in the future I'd like and this is the place I plan to go. I can't thank you enough.

Really Clean enviornment for a piercing. I watch my piercer open up the tools they used and he gave me the pen they used to mark me because they don't use the same pen more than once. I was in and out! Quick and pretty much painless. I was really nervous about getting my piercings Matt said I would be just fine and made sure I was comfortable and all of my questions were answered. 100% recommend going here!

I just got my tongue pierced there and Matt did absolutely great! I've had my tongue done before and it was quite painful, however when Matt did it, it still hurt but not nearly as bad. It was quick and easy. Plus he gave me a discount for having two piercings done at the same time. (Both in tongue). Would definitely recommend and I'll be going there for future piercings :)

They were so busy but it was still a great experience! Matt was awesome. They had a promo today so my piercing was only $30 instead of $40. He could tell I was nervous but he helped me through it. Overall, a great experience! I would definitely come back! My only complaint- I called yesterday to say that I was planning on coming in today, and I was told that I didn't need an appt. Because of the promo, the place was packed so I kinda wish I had been told about that so I could have made an appt. But still, we only waited about 20 mins or so. The place was very nice! Edit: I got my rook done. I've been scared to do it for years and it came out great! I'd attach a pic if I could.

I went in today to get my conch (inner ear) pierced. The shop looks great after the move to the front of the building. Everything was really clean and professional. And as usual, Matt did a stellar job. The placement was perfect on the first try, and the piercing was done flawlessly. Will continue to get all of my piercings done here. 🖒

Dishonest and absurdly rude. The "employee" who did my septum piercing had first denied me the option to have it done with clamps to assure it would be straight, but then followed up by giving me the worst crooked septum piercing I've seen to this day. I have finally come to terms with the fact that he had royally "FUCKED UP". The "employee" had repeatedly told me to simple "mess with it and it will straighten out". That was the second red flag that I should have noticed. I am beyond upset and displeased with the service I received. If you want a hungover, deadbeat, dildo doing your piercings than ignore this message and proceed to a shit storm.

Spents $80 on plugs and a septum piercing, and he ignorantly stabbed my nose at the worst crooked angle. Not worth the time, and now I have to wait for it to heal before I can find someone else to do a PROPER POKE through my nose. 5/10 people MAY end up fine, but nobody should like those odds. DO NOT GO TO PROPER POKES!

I wasn't expecting to get pierced too but the atmosphere was very relaxing and Matt was so knowledgeable about everything we asked that I decided to go for it. He kept me calm and explained to me what was going on and how he was going to do the piercing. Just a great experience all around.

My daughter has been wanting her ears pierced for over a year now, and I really wanted to support a local piercer for my daughter's first piercing. Matt was kind, professional, calm, knowledgeable, and assured my eight-year old daughter with his steady hand and gentle demeanor. She was given a little squeeze stress-ball, was allowed to take her time looking in the mirror, and had all of her questions answered. Parents: Skip the mall and avoid the piercing gun; Matt at Proper Pokes is the way to go.

I came into the shop the other day and Matt was great. Talked me though what he was doing and all that jazz. My total came to $70 (very reasonable for two good professional piercings I thought). I always tip so I added a $15 tip onto my total. Well my dumb ass apparently can't add and I put the total was $95. I realized it later but though, "Oh whatever it's $10 more" and it was clearly my mistake. I checked my account today and he only charged me $85 ($70 + $15) when he really could have charged me the $95 that I wrote for the total. What an honest and stand up guy!
