I was so excited to go to this place after friends gave it such good reviews and what a let down. I booked a consult with Michael weeks in advance- he didn't give me the time of day. I had two tattoos in mind and he totally rushed me and did not answer any of my questions. When I asked for his opinion of where the tattoos would look good with my other tattoos he didn't even ask what I had or where I had tattoos. I said I wanted the writing and way dates were written to match another tattoo I had and he didn't even look at it. One tattoo I wanted a mirror image of and he took a picture of it on a tablet not a photocopy... How can that be an exact replica if you don't have the true size?! He kept saying he had a meeting to go to... Then why not reschedule with me?! He maybe spent 10-15 min with me and I didn't feel listened to at all. The girls at the front desk were super sweet but when I said I may want to meet a different tattoo artist they said "oh no he's really good he's done plenty of tattoos like that." I highly recommend Luke or Jesse, and all the guys do great work! I was told this place was "the best" but I can't really agree. First of all, I was barely greeted when I got there with anything but, "what do you need today?". Not a hello, not a smile. I felt rushed in picking out the font for my tattoo and thought it was strange there are no examples of their work up around the shop. I was never told they have an $80 minimum... Not when I made the appointment or when I got there. My tattoos were rushed and very quick; not even 15 min. Had I known I would be charged $80 for them I would have asked him to do another tattoo for me too. I don't think I would go back or recommend them. Read Less

I have had many piercings done here and all 4 of my tattoos and have always had a wonderful experience, the environment is so bright and welcoming and all of the people are too! They really get to know you and try and get a good understanding of what you are looking to do! They go above and beyond to make sure your questions are answered and that you are satisfied. They do everything to make you feel comfortable! It definitely does not feel like a typical tattoo shop! It is very clean and well kept. This was the shop I chose when I got my first tattoo years ago. The environment is welcoming and very clean. Most of the staff are personable and do wonderful work. My advice, especially for first timers, is to do your research. Each artist has their work displayed as well as a mini bio about them on Anchor's End's website. I've been tattooed by Jack and Jesse. Went in for an eyebrow piercing and was ridiculously nervous, but I had nothing to worry about. The staff that worked with me (Matt and Mackenzie, I believe) were extremely friendly, took time to chat with me and help me relax, walked me through what the process was when I asked. Walked in today to set up a sleeve appointment, and get a watercolor cat. They made sure I was set up with the best artist for the kind of sleeve I was asking for, then set me up with Michael to do the watercolor cat. Michael was very patient with me till I was satisfied with the design of the cat. I let him have free range over the colors, and he did an amazing job. My sister and I decided to get our first tattoos. We have had a couple of family members get tattooed with them, as my cousin is good friends with the owner. We made an appointment ahead of time, although we had to wait nearly a couple of hours past our appointment to get tattooed. This was okay, as I understand how being busy and getting behind can be. However, I also let the artist know that these would be our first tattoos, but we didn't get much in the way of going over our designs and placement. Instead, it was quite rushed and we felt we didn't get the time we needed to really consult and get EXACTLY what we wanted. While they offer lifetime touch ups and the artist said he would fix anything, I unfortunately live out of state and will probably pay someone else to get my tattoo the way I really want it. There's no doubt they have talented artists, but the service was not ideal. With these being our first tattoo as well as this place being a family recommendation, I would have expected much more consultation and consideration, and even guidance in the process. For instance, the tattoo was drawn much larger than I wanted and placed on me without even being asked how/where exactly I wanted. It was an easy enough fix, but I would suggest if they're in a rush because they're busy and you're trying to get some help with a tattoo you have to wear for a lifetime, maybe re-schedule so you can have a better experience. Had 3 tattoos done here by Aaron, and I feel like they turned out pretty well.  I won't be going back, however, as the last time I set up an appointment the artist was late and offered very little along the lines of apologies.  He also seemed more interested in chatting with the other artist than he did with getting things rolling, but come time to pay expected to be paid for chat time and even the time he was late getting in for the appointment (charged for 3 hours when I barely got 2 1/2 in reality).  Pretty disappointed. If you want a tattoo anywhere near the St. Croix Valley area, go here!! The shop is really clean and seems sanitary, which put me at ease. A lot of tattoo parlors are pretty dark and it almost seems like you're walking into a cave. Not here! They always make you feel welcome and they have a great staff that listens to what you want and make you feel like you're their number one priority, even when they're busy! Their piercer is always knowledgeable and polite and easy to talk to, he makes the whole experience really comfortable and laid back. My fiance has gotten all of his tattoos done here, I've recommended this place to all of my friends and family, and it's always been a really great experience. They treat you like a tattoo parlor should, not like you're just an appointment, they understand that what you're walking out with is permanent and they stand by all their work. Their portraits are great, their linework is sublime, and the color they do seems to stand above rest. On a referral from a friend, I went in to Anchor's End after booking a appointment with Billy and telling them I wanted a Koi half sleeve.I arrived at their shop, which is located on the 2nd floor of a neat old main street building in Hudson. Their shop is very clean, well lit and brightly painted.I was introduced to Billy who already had a very nice Koi design worked up. I brought in my own ideas, but his was far nicer, so that's what I went with.Being this was my first, Billy explaned the process thoroughly and didn't laugh when I winced with the needles.He was nice to talk to and did a nice job. It's reassuring to go through a process like this when you are comfortable with the artist.Aftercare was explained thoroughly and I'm thrilled with the result. I'd recommend Billy in a heartbeat!
