A little over a year ago, I decided to get a large dragon tattoo which I started with a good local artist. After all of the line work was done, I decided that what I really wanted a full Japanese body suit and started looking for an artist to add a suit around the original dragon work. Living in Chicago, I thought I'd have to travel to the coasts to find someone specializing in large scale Japanese work, but was happily supprised when I found Katana Tattoo Studio, close by in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the phenomenal work of Paul Dhuey. I contacted Paul and we spent some time discussing ideas before settling on a Four Guardians of the Compass theme. Due to the position I had requested for the dragon, working the other three Guardians in was a bit challenging, but I'm really happy with how it's worked out. I'm not artistic, so, for the most part, I've depended on Paul's skills and recommendations, and I have to say I could not be any happier. I love the work he's done and have received many, many compliments. I should also mention that the studio has a good vibe, is super clean, and a great Green Bay location. We are actually finished with my back piece! Paul Dhuey has been my artist for years. It finally is finished. I've shown its progress at each tattoo shop he worked for. Now he is at Katana Tattoo, LLC. I am so pleased! He is an incredible artist, I trust him with my body. I wanted to post my back finished, I didn't want to post it under a shop he no longer works for. I have seen the work of the artist there and its amazing. I recommend Paul Dhuey to anyone, his technique is awesome, I can handle three hours at a time with him. He rules. He makes you feel really comfortable and relaxed. He has a way about him, and not only that he is incredible at what he does!! Paul really does take his time to ensure you get the best quality tattoo. My biggest concern was that is it went with the contour of my body, I didn't want to look like a block. He made sure there was fluidity. He listens and I trust him. I highly recommend Paul! I've been getting work done by Paul for 20 years, and I cannot think of anyone else I trust as much when it comes to creative design and talent.  I've not trusted my skin to anyone else, and would be hesitant to do so without his recommendation.His approach is one that I've not seen from many other artists - he considers future work into his design so that no one piece/image stands out as "odd" when an arm or leg is complete, even if it comes at the expense of not making a quick buck.Most importantly, he takes the time to ensure the image he is working on flows with existing tattoos and the shape of the body part he is inking.I also appreciate his honesty - he'll tell you if something isn't going to work in the big scheme of things, but in return he'll throw out one or more better ideas/designs as an alternative.  I didn't realize I wanted a magician with a crystal ball on my outer left thigh until I saw the image he sketched - I couldn't be happier.Lastly, I've found that the inks he uses stand the test of time if you take necessary care with lotions and sunscreen.  Some of the work he did in the late 90s still looks fresh on my left calf.Thanks Paul!
