We came in the night before getting my tattoo. Showed him the idea of what I wanted and explained some of the reasoning behind the colors. He got us in the following day. Jesse then sent me a picture today of my tattoo and I fell in love. He helped answer all my questions and made sure I understood. He also made sure it was everything I wanted it to be. Absolutely awesome experience! This was my first tattoo and Jesse did a fantastic job. Not only did his artwork go well beyond my expectations, his professionalism and the cleanliness of the shop was superior. He knew I was nervous being it was my first tattoo and he did whatever he could to make me comfortable and at ease. More importantly he didn't lie to me about the pain. I knew it would hurt...but he fully explained everything he was doing and at what point it would hurt more than others. And the fact that he has a sense of humor certainly helped ease the jitters! The artwork of my tattoo is exactly what I wanted! I had an idea of a design, just wasn't exactly sure how to piece it together. He totally went way beyond what I was expecting for a design. Stopped in at around 8:15 knowing it was after hours (it says so everywhere I looked online) and asked to get a tattoo. The tattooist said "I cannot do your tattoo because it is after hours, I have some home problems going on at home and I am still cleaning up my station from a very long tattoo I just finished." Knowing how tattooing works I know that even a small part of the piece I wanted would have taken MUCH longer than 10 minutes, with drawing up the image, setting up th...e station, and complying with even the most MINIMAL health codes (by the looks of the place, they went above and beyond minimal). The tattooist was more concerned with his personal life which I find to be fantastic considering he is a real person and I'm not a jerk--oddly enough we both agreed that money is not the most important thing in the world. Totally blown away with the professionalism of the place and the friendliness of the staff. Due to my work schedule, the tattooist made special hours at my request and within HIS schedule to get me in after hours. They have bent over backwards making sure the tattoo I wanted is beyond perfect and during my first session made me feel comfortable and right at home. The only issue I had was some inconsiderate people came in and expected walk in service because of their inability to know how the industry works. Darkside deserves nothing but 5 stars.
