Walked in without an appointment wanting a piercing. Apparently their piercer is on call, so I left my name and number, expecting a call back. Never received a callback, so I called the store instead. They apologized and said they would contact the piercer. Still haven't received a call about 5 days later. Went to a different place in Portland. HOWEVER, walking in, the place appeared relatively clean and the staff was very friendly. Far above my expectations for my first tattoo, quiet needle, and they listen to you if you need a break. Beautifully done art work around the shop gives an up beat vibe and very relaxing to look at each painting done by the artists them selves. They could charge way more for the quality they put out, but prices are amazing. Would recommend them to anyone from 18 to 118! Will be going back shortly for a bigger project. Oh and don't forget to give a little snuggle to the newest member, a young lil' Boston terrier who hops, jumps, and loves to nap on your shoulder! Read Less

I had some of my tattoo in my country, so I try to find an artist in here and near my house that I can give all my hope. And they did not make me disappoint. Stopped at Illuminati during a trip to Portland form Central Oregon to have my daughter's navel pierced during the early afternoon on Saturday, April 16th. Recently remodeled shop, clean, and well lit. Informative and helpful staff upon arrival to the shop.Met with Brad for the piercing; a great and likeable guy after chatting with him for a bit; he readily answered questions about the pending piercing and was very thorough during the piercing process. The piercing only took a few minutes after signing off a waiver, as my daughter was a minor. Very easy process and was provided with contact information afterwards directly to Brad as well given supplies and informative card for care and cleaning of the piercing. Between this positive experience and seeing other work the shop has completed, I recommend this shop for anyone considering having work done, even if it requires a several hour drive to get there.Regarding the shop, it is located in a strip mall and has a parking area directly in front of the shop. Caleb is amazing!!  I met him a tattoo expo with artists from all over the United States & I chose him.  Not only did he make my cover up look like I had always wanted, he made it look like there was no cover up at all.  I am so happy with my new tattoo.  My boyfriend was so impressed with Caleb's work that he made an appointment for a new tattoo as well and it is looking fabulous (it is a large piece and is a work in progress). I hope Caleb like us as much as we like him, because we plan on visiting it a lot in the future.Also, the customer service is great.  Everybody is friendly and knowledgeable and they want to make sure you feel comfortable.  The only complaint I can come up with is the fact that I had they are busy and you need to make an appointment pretty far in advance, but I am positive that is because they are amazing and everybody wants in.  Trust me when I say, it was worth the wait!! Called illuminati tattoo on Friday the 13th, they said they would put my name on the list to get a tattoo and to be down in 45 minutes. I showed up over an hour later and there were 13 people ahead of me.Obviously, that was frustrating, it's been almost a ritual for me to get a tattoo of some sort every Friday the 13th for the last 12. This would have ironically been the 13th. With that said I went out to my car trying to figure out what to do.  Then, 2 girls who worked behind the desk came to my car, apoligized, and asked if I could come back. I said sure, I mean, if they put in the effort to rectify their mistake, then cool. They asked me to come fill out the paperwork, so when I came back in it would be quicker.  I did and they told me to come back in an hour or so. Instead I asked if they could call me instead since I was staying in a hotel up the street. They said sure.I left, and the wait began.  2 hours passed, so I called the shop and was informed that there were still 10 people ahead of me. But that they were going to finish all the people whose name were on the list and that they would call.Needless to say, I didnt receive a call, here it is 1:00pm on the 14th, and my Friday the 13th tattoo ritual has been broken. THANKS ILLUMINATI TATTOO... customer service clearly is not your strong point! What a waste of effort. Read Less
