I decided to give Flaming Dragon a try after a cousin and an Aunt and Uncle had great things to say about them. I was not disappointed! I had a tattoo I got at the age of 17. So obviously it was something that needed covering up. The shop I was at before recommended black or grey clouds to cover this particular piece up. Well since I am not into dark and gloomy that would not work. Had one other artist say they didn't want to cover up the work.Enter Flaming Dragon and one of their artists Brad. I came in with an idea, set an appointment and hoped for the best. (See my other review on another tattoo company). He let me know there may be some bleed through and multiple sessions. I assured him I was fine with this and didn't really care if you could faintly see what was underneath. My last experience with getting a tattoo was not very pleasant. My artist was very heavy handed and I was in pain for some time following that appointment. Naturally when showing for my appointment with Brad all I could think about was how much this was going to hurt for the next several days. The cover up went extremely well and there will be no sign of the tattoo underneath it once my 2nd visit is completed. Most importantly, I was in zero pain the next day. I could hardly tell I even went through 4 hours in the chair!! The environment is very cool and the artists are as well. I enjoyed my time there and look forward to finishing up this piece and then working on more with Brad. I definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for a good place to go. Read Less

Went there today to make an appointment to get a tattoo, pulled up and there was a fat white chick and a dirty skinny looking dude staring at us. Went up to the door and sign said they'd be back at 3pm as it was 2:55pm. Realized the fat white chick and the skinny dirty looking dude worked there, so we walked towards them to asked a question and they jumped in their car and sat in it until we left. Waited until a little after 3pm and they wouldn't get out of their car, we pulled off and then they got out and walked inside. Guess they didn't feel like working today. Doesn't bother me to take my money/business elsewhere. Incase one of you turds read this, I'm the guy in the black truck that pulled right up next to you. Read Less

Every tattooer in this shop is very proffessional. I've been tattooed by three of them, and they've all been open and easy to work with. The shop itself is very clean. Their tattoos are the highest quality in Tacoma. Between the five of them, they have more years experience than your great grandma's been alive. Any serious tattoo collector, you're messing up if you haven't been tattooed here. Read Less

I haven't gotten my tattoo yet. I just wanted to let everyone know how important I felt just scheduling this session. My wife has recently passed away. I have a very important tattoo I want. Her handwriting from a letter to me, made into a tattoo. I'm VERY ADHD😉🤣 and not too easy to deal with. My wife was very special to me because she could. Anyway, Brad was able to figure out what I wanted and slowed me down to let me know what he had in mind. I can't thank the guy enough! I hope I'm not too hard to deal with on Wednesday. Sara Childress is amazing. She's incredibly talented and also exceedingly modest - a combination that doesn't come around very often. We spent about a dozen sessions together and I am absolutely thrilled with her work. Not only do I now have the most beautiful floral piece on my arm (happily forever) but I've made a friend with a very interesting person who's work ethic is incomparable. The amount of preparation and research that she put into our detailed project is mindblowing, and it really shows in the finished product. She has a decade of experience in this industry, and I would consider her to be a trustworthy advisor in regard to artwork. I love that she is so committed to creating lasting and beautiful pieces that she will do  everything she can to steer clients away from project ideas that aren't realistic or won't live up to the expectation of the recipient. She has a very gentle touch; the work didn't hurt more than it had to. Be warned - a same day appointment is unlikely, however it is worth the wait to get on her schedule. Read Less
