Have gotten almost 2k worth of tattoos here. Great work but still overpriced. Every time the artist was an hour+ late and then the last straw was scheduling an appointment in which I took the day off for because it is a about an hour and a half drive for me. I got a call 2 hours before the appointment saying my artist wasn't in. Will not recommend to friends anymore and will not be back myself. Find a different studio if looking! Read Less

As many other reviews state, the initial estimates are very high compared to other tattoo shops in the area, and then they charge even higher than the estimates.My wife and I came in for matching black tattoos, with the designs taken from the web. The artist looked at the design, talked about what we wanted, and quoted $250 per tattoo. We said it sounded a little high, and the artist said it might not cost that much, since we would both get identical tattoos.The artist took the online image, and modified it slightly. We then both got our ~3 inch tattoos on our shoulders. Total time was a little under 3 hours. We were charged almost $900, or around $300 per hour. The tattoos were "fine", but not something to be proud of. The line work was a bit light, and not consistent. We plan to get it touched up when we get our next tattoos.When we brought up that the total charge was significantly higher than quoted, we were told that tattoos aren't done per hour, they're based on complexity, and "many other factors". I pointed out that our tattoos were simple, copied from the web, and were duplicates of each other. Complexity if anything should have reduced the price. We essentially received a "too bad" response back.We'll obviously be going somewhere else for our future tattoos, but as I noticed so many other customers ran into the same problems, I thought it was worth writing up our experience as well. Decided to try Dzul Ink out because of the good reviews I've heard about this place and I was also one of their winners from their Instagram end of the year giveaway. One of the prizes was a 25% jewelry coupon and 10% jewelry coupon. I wanted to get a double helix piercing with gold hoops. It is $20 for the piercing itself, and additional cost for the jewelry. I called ahead of time to see if I would be able to come in, however the lady who answered the phone said that the piercer doesn't come in until 3pm so I decided to schedule an appointment at 3 the next day. She told me it would be about $110 for both piercings and gold hoops. It was a bit pricey compared to other places but I didn't mind since I could use the coupons I won! ...NOT. The next day, my friend and I walked in at about 2:45, filled out paper work and waited for about 30 minutes until I finally asked the lady at the front desk if the piercer was in yet because I had work at 4:30. It was 3:15 and she still wasn't there and doesn't have a cell phone so there was no one of contacting her. The lady at the front desk offered us to look at the jewelry options while we waited, which we did. The jewelry selection was nice and had many gold hoop options; however that's when she told me that the jewelry coupons I had did not apply to the jewelry that they had to use to do the piercing with, which were all silver. We were in there for about an hour and the piercer never showed up so we just left. Giving 2 stars because the lady was nice and they had a decent jewelry selection. Stopped in to get quotes for tattoos with my boyfriend. We were quoted $400 + for 2 small black & white wrist tattoos with minimal detail. We setup an appointment for 3:00. We arrived at 2:45 so we could fill out the paperwork. We waited for Jacob to arrive, but at 3:30 when he still wasn't there, we decided that we were done having our time wasted & being ripped off, so we left & went elsewhere. We got both of our tattoos done for $240 & were very impressed with the customer service & quality of the tattoos we were given at the other location. I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a place of business here. I'll go back to the other place down the street that has done the rest of my tattoos for years in the future. I was trying to support a new business in my old neighborhood with terrible results. Customer service is not even a consideration for this place. My entire experience was basically a nightmare and they kept my deposit and I never got a single drawing done. They have my money and the did zero work even though I went in 2 times. The second visit was to view the artists work for my design and it was a special visit downtown. Still no work. No tattoo and out my money. The manager is rude and he is not the owner despite saying he was. I've been speaking with an attorney since my interaction and they agree this business was out of line.My main concern is that their business practices will end up hurting someone financially in the future. I came in without an appointment one day asking for a double hooped helix and they were able to get me in the chair within 20 minutes! Everyone I encountered was very friendly and professional. The shop itself was clean and organized Kayla was my piercer - I was a little nervous as it's been awhile since I had a new piercing but now I want to go back! Kayla made me feel very comfortable explaining what she was doing the entire time. Her patience and communication was greatly appreciated and helped keep me calm.  The only reason I'm giving four stars vs. five is I wish they had a slightly larger collection of jewelry to choose from. Didn't end up getting a tattoo here because I was GROSSLY misquoted by a consultant who apparently doesn't even give the tattoos- which is something I've never heard of before. As someone who has a half sleeve and 15+ tattoos, this girl tried to tell me that a tat about 2.5/3 inches all around with no color and minimal detail would cost $450- $600+ TAX. Is she delusional? I have larger tattoos with more detail, intricate line-work and color I've gotten done for less. With all the tattoo shops in Seattle I'd pass on this place, ESPECIALLY if it's your first one or you're unfamiliar with pricing.Edit: gave this place one extra star because despite the quote, the shop has a cool aesthetic and appears to be clean - which is important. I don't recommend coming here at all for piercings. On Monday I came in to get new jewelry for my septum and it had a little ball. Doing with myself I of course lost the ball, I don't have the skills of a good piercer to put jewelry in so I went back to get a new one with a ball since I couldn't return the one I bought already. I asked if a piercer could put it in and the charge *they said* it would be $15. I buy new jewelry one with a ball and I have a piercer put it in. When we are in the room she says that the insertion actually costs $30, but she'll only charge me $20. Right off the bat, it was already bad news. So she puts it in and it looks good. She told me if I ever wanted to hide the little ball on the jewelry I could just hide it in my nose. So I did that and the ball came off. Not only did I have to pay for the insertion, but I paid extra than they said and the piercer didn't even do it right. They aren't professional at all. Read Less

I can't convey how good my experience was. I have several tattoos already but all from different shops in other states/around Seattle; today was my first time at Dzul. I had a vague idea of what I wanted the design to look like but nothing really concrete. The staff worked with me patiently and helped to come up with something really nice and unique. The artistry is evident but the tattoo is still delicate like I wanted. Everyone in the shop was extremely professional but still very personable/approachable. I was just visiting seattle and after convincing my mom to let me get a nose ring, we headed over to Dzul. I had Cata and she was such a sweat heart! She explained everything super thoroughly and re-assured me it would be fine. The piercing took 10 minutes in total. The staff is welcoming and the parlor is both clean and has a good ambience. Ok I'm an old lady, 60, that decided get my ears repierced and to get an industrial piercing.  I drank plenty of beers prior to going.  Wasn't to worried about the pain at this point as I figured they numb it or use a gun or something quick but .... noooooooooo!  I was in for a rude awakening!It's done just plain and simple with a needle.  And it hurt don't let people lie to you.  I'm pretty tough but it smarted but it only lasted a few seconds!. Caterina was great.  Explained everything in detail.  My repiercing( never felt them while doing them or after.). I slept on the industrial. Mistake!  Don't do that!  Third day I was really sore and worried about infection.  Here's the trick.  Take two Aleve.  Takes the pain away, reduces swelling. I got a labret piercing from Catalina. I have been calling Dzul for weeks because I was nervous and they answered all my questions each time and made me feel comfortable knowing that the size of my lips wouldn't be an issue. Catalina's voice was very soothing! I am unsure is she knew how nervous I was, she tried out different rings because I didn't want a stud and that was very firm for me because I hate the look of studs. I ended up with a beautiful piercing, and good instructions on how to care for my lip. I like the front office staff they were very chill and it was very clean which is a plus! I am glad I got a piercing but the Ink Lounge made me want to get a tattoo! They have many pictures and knowledgeable people if you have questions!I can't wait to see the healing process through! Alrighty, it's been two weeks since I got my nose pierced; it's healing very well!  My piercer was KAYLA - I thought she did superb job!Came in on my lunch break - as a walk-in - right when they opened. Happened to catch their winter piercing special, which is an amazing deal! Piercer wasn't there yet, but by the time I finished filling out my info, she was there and ready to get the job done.Kayla told me her step-by-step process and I felt comfortable. This review is for Cata. Short review: This woman is amazing! I looked at her portfolio online and read her reviews here on Yelp before visiting (she has more photos on her Instagram account). I was sold. 1). I went to her in July to remove a keloid around my hurting nose piercing (done by someone else at a different shop) and she removed it with a q-tip and post-piercing solution! She told me that my piercing wasn't infected like I previously thought, just extremely irritated. Cata also mentioned that the bar was too short for my nose and the location was too high up for what I wanted. She gave me tons of advice, cleaning solution, a solid routine and healing oil. Within 2 weeks my piercing was completely healed and undetectable!2). On Wednesday, during my lunch break, I decided to get my septum pierced. I did research prior to visiting Cata again and decided to go for it. The process was the smoothest I've ever experienced. She made sure I knew what I wanted, took time to help me pick out the ideal jewelry, gave me more information and reiterated my care schedule. The piercing itself wasn't painful and I only had a few drops of blood (everyone is different btw). I really can't express how much I love this piercing. I'm constantly checking out my nose throughout the day to sneak-a-peak. It turned out exactly as I imagined and aside from mild swelling, I forget it's there. I we walked in today and my 6 and 7 year old daughters were both able to have their ears pierced. The person who did it explained every step to both children, didn't lie to either girl (she explained to my girls that it was going to hurt for a minute) and was very patient as my 6 year old considered if she wanted BOTH ears done or stop after the first one. I chose to contact this place because of the amazing reviews, friend referrals and the professionalism they portrayed to have...As well as their ability to do a unique peircing I had requested and had been denied of by so many other places. I drove from Kirkland to Seattle, paid $20 for parking and the 10$ holding fee for NOTHING. When I arrived I made sure to check with the piercer to make sure she knew what I wanted as I have been denied of this idea many times before. She reasured me she knew exactly what I wanted and that it was ok. She came back soon after and said they didn't have the size of jewelry I had asked about over the phone and that she just assumed they had it but they really don't. I gave her legit complete an correct measurements and detail about the specific jewelry I wanted and when I got there they had never ever heard of it...Such a waste of time! The staff need to be more educated and aware of what they are saying yes to. I will never go back and will never refer them to anyone I know. I had a fairly frustrating experience here, and I am merely sharing my story. I don't mean to throw shade at the person at fault, but seriously. On Friday I emailed the shop with a couple specific questions regarding their summer piercing sale.1. Could I come in any day to get the sale price?2.Which discount price would the piercing i was wanting fall under? ($20 flat or 10% off)BOTH of my questions were answered incorrectly.I was informed i could come in that day (Friday) - when i got in there i was told i could not get the sale price, even after showing them the email with the false information.-though, later i got not only an email, but a facebook message as well informing me they were sorry for the mess up and i could come in anytime and get it done at sale price.The piercing i asked about getting was the "Vertical Labret" . in the email i got back told me it would cost $20 to get the piercing done. It wasnt until i already had the metal in my face on Monday that they told me i was yet again misinformed.  I had put down a $10 deposit so i was expecting something around $36+tax. she first told me a price around 60, and after her understanding my frustration and realizing how much i'd been misled i got her down to $43 ( and my $10 deposit) I'm really not one to be a difficult customer, but please inform me properly so i can financially prepare, i brought in cash and had no intention of using plastic.In their defense, they lowered my price and gave me extra balls for my barbell. i think my piercing is slightly crooked but i figure im the only one who will notice too much anyway Read Less

To be fair - they accommodated me and my schedule making an appt. for me an hour before they usually open. That being said; I wanted a watercolor type tattoo. I specifically said no black. i wanted the simple wave in teal and the sun in orange and yellow. He kept trying to talk me into black outlines to make it pop. I had to fight to keep the sun from being outlined, I caved on the wave but said i wanted it to be delicate. I shouldn't have given in. Neither is what I really wanted. I sent artwork in and was told they would send me artwork back for review. The review ended up being while I was sitting there. It was not a comfortable or very good experience. I don't remember who my piercer was--this was about 3 years ago--and she probably doesn't remember me. But I went in on a whim for a walk in piercing for my birthday. I wanted a double industrial (one stacked on top of another in the same ear). At first she told me it couldn't be done. But I insisted--(I have big ears) - - so we put on the marks and she did it. *note* this is the second time I have done this-- in the same ear. The first time I did it the girl got the industri...als crooked and too far in so that they rubbed my head constantly, as well as my inner cartilage. I had to take them out after three months. This girl at Dzul NAILED IT even though she was uncertain in the beginning. I still have my double industrial to this day and I still love it. I paid 15 extra dollars to have a "professional" do it, to ensure my jewelry is properly on because I struggle with the process and don't mind paying for it being done correctly. She was very nice when helping me however she didn't secure my ring in place and a couple of hours later I found myself without a ball on my ring. I did a consult two days prior with one of the front desk gals and was a little nervous that Alejandro would do a design right based on the description given to someone else, but when I got to the shop the design was exactly what I wanted and he didn't have to do any adjustments on it at all. I was scheduled for a 4pm appointment on a Friday and we got started at 3:50pm so I was very happy with the timing, it's always frustrating when you're scheduled and a artist tries to s...queeze in walk ins, etc and then is running way late for your appointment, so I was very happy that he respected my appointment. I have read reviews that said that people walked out paying more than expected and I was a little hesitant about that going into this appointment. But I love his work, and really wanted a quality tattoo so I decided to try anyway. At the consult I was quoted $350 for the piece and as I left was told to budget between $300-$350 so I of course went on the high side. When I got there and the tattoo was shown I asked Alejandro how much I was looking at with this tattoo and he said $350. Great! So I just let him know that's the max I'm able to spend towards the tattoo this time and since there were no changes made during the tattoo and we stayed within my scheduled time I walked away paying just that. I think sometimes people go in wanting to adjust size and colors, etc or the tattoo takes longer, etc and then they're upset that they paid more. You wouldn't go to a car dealership and upgrade a two door for a four door add a sunroof and a custom paint job and not expect for the price to change. Just be sure to verify the price before the needle hits your skin and if any talk of change takes place and you'll be fine. My tattoo looks amazing. This is my seventh piece and it's by far my favorite. Alejandro is very talented, relaxing and fun to work with, and the shop is clean, nice, and they play awesome music. Great customer service! My daughter received a perfect and practically painless cartilage piercing. The studio is so clean and all the artist are very professional. The artist took us on a tour of the studio. My daughter is underage and they checked ids for us both. I like that they don't just "do" piercing but really care about their customers. This shop is amazing. Everyone here is down to earth very professional. I am having my arm done by Alex and my husband has his being done by Jacob. Each sessions they were able to get is both in together which was awesome. Their work is just phenomenal. I have one more session to go. I went in today to get just a basic nostril stud and seriously could not have been any happier or more impressed. This place is in a great location downtown, but not that noticeable if u don't know it's there. I've been catching the bus home 5 days a week a block away and never noticed it was here. I sure am glad I finally did when I found myself in desperate need of a little facial piercing!I walked in with no appointment on a Friday afternoon and was impressed right away with the space and how friendly everyone was. This place is neither super upscale boutique and neither a grungy hole where u need to fear hepatitis. It is a beautiful open space with tons of cool artwork and not one pretentious jerk to be found. It is the perfect in between I was hoping for.After reading all the great reviews for Catalina, I was hoping to get her as my piercer and guess who I got? The lady herself! They had me in and pierced in like 15 minutes. I could not believe how easy and almost completely pain free it was. I seriously could not believe her when she told me I was done! Catalina was super friendly and professional and when I told her I had saline at home to clean my new piercing, she insisted on giving me a free baggie of sea salt just in case! I was also super surprised how cheap the piercing was for a downtown shop. It was only $45 for the piercing and that includes the jewelery! Absolutely fantastic! DEFINITELY recommend! The first time I went to Dzul was a super last minute decision with my brothers girlfriend to get her nose pierced and after seeing how wonderful of a job Cata did I decided to get mine does as well! I've had it pierced twice before by two different piercers and I have to say that she was the best I've seen! Super clean, comfortable and knowledgable about her craft. I ended up going back a few weeks later to get my nipples pierced by her because I was so happy and felt like I could trust her to do a good job. :) The rest of the staff all seem friendly and very helpful, I can't say anything about their tattoos but if you're wanting a piercing and want someone you know will do a great job go to Dzul and ask for Cata! Dzul was great and very accommodating. We called since we were visiting for a day and wanted to get a tattoo. Alex was very nice and super accommodating make it all work out. There's no doubt Dzul's tattoo artists know what they're doing and can create what you're looking for.  Jacob is a pure artist.  I had an idea and he was able to turn it into a piece of artwork.  I had a half sleeve done that was approximately 14"x14" on my upper arm/shoulder.I would keep in mind that their estimates are just that and depending on size and amount of detail, prices can be more than originally estimated.  At the same time, I was also given the option to pare back the amount of detail to get it to a lower price (the detail was more important to me).  Also, artists (not just Dzul) aren't usually known for their punctuality and this was the case with Jacob as well.  I made sure I was there on time but also brought my patience (and iPad) with me as I would rather the artist take their time and get the piece and vision created just right.All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely get another tattoo from Jacob in the future. Today I stopped in to see if I could find a 14k hoop for a piercing. A few places I have checked into don't keep much gold on hand and a not jazzed about ordering (I'm guessing because of a wholesale minimum $ order) Today was my lucky day. Jacob spent 12 hours (8 hours in the first session and 4 in the second), on this 8x10, super beautifully detailed Medusa on my right thigh. Being a person whose nervous system is seriously unpredictably off course due to a pretty progressive form of Multiple Sclerosis, simply sitting stationary for long periods can be excruciating. Jacob, in tandem with the whole DZUL family were totally patient, supportive, caring and attentive/responsive to my needs at all times. I am always impressed by people who have script tattoos  because the lines and the lettering is always so beautiful. I have other tattoos and I decided it was about time to get a new one and of course I wanted script. There are hundreds of script options, I know this because I obsessively  spent  an entire day looking through the types of script that I may have wanted. When I finally found the one the only thing left was to find an artist. I found This shop on Instagram and basically went though every picture to make sure the artists lines were sharp and spacing was appropriate on the worded tattoos. After a couple of pics in I was sold and called the next day for an appointment.  I got the simple word Passion but I love it!! At first I made the two SS in the word red but once healed,which I was warned about, it was not as vibrant as I would have liked. Came in on a whim today with my mom to get our noses pierced while on vacation in Seattle. We walked in and got Catalina as our piercer. Every review with her seems to have been great but ours was not. I had my nose pierced before and it was an easy painless quick experience. My mom went first and I watched. I noticed she put the needle in VERY slowly which was painful for my mom. She got the jewelry in and my mom was done. I was next. When she did the actual piercing I could tell how slow it was which again made it extremely painful. It was almost like she pushed it a little way, stopped, then pushed thru the rest. I started bleeding BAD. Like running down my face bleeding which I've never experienced before. Then she was trying to get the piece of jewelry on and it was the most excruciating pain ever (I have many tattoos and piercings, nothing like this) she kept telling me to relax but that was near impossible. She continued trying to get the jewelry in for about 5 minutes and I finally told her to just stop and I wanted to be done. My mom assured me I would be disappointed if I went thru all that and left empty handed. I gave her one more chance and she finally got it in. I saw on the little table how many Kleenex and q tips were soaked in my blood and it was alarming. If I would have known his would be my experience I would have never chosen to get my nose pierced again. I would not return here again. 2 stars because she was genuinely sweet.UPDATE: Look at the photo I posted one week after. The stud she put it is way too small and the jewelry itself too tight, it keeps sinking into my nose and looks like I just have a giant hole in my nose. It's excruciatingly painful. I had a great experience at Dzul. 1. Petra, the studio manager, is very warm and friendly. She greets everyone with a smile and upbeat tone.2. Alex, one of the owners, took me as a walk-in to touch up some star tattoos I've had for several years. He made them even better and bolder.3. Alex patiently and quickly worked out a beautiful cherry blossom tattoo that I've been wanting for a while. He listened and understood the subtle, watercolor look I wanted. He also accommodated my schedule; I was leaving town I a couple of days.4. The shop is very clean and they are very careful about prep and handling a fresh tattoo.
