Thor's is the shop where tattoo dreams come true. We are so lucky to have such a high class tattoo shop in our small town. My spouse and I have been getting tattoos here for years and will not go anywhere else. The shop is very clean, the artists are all tremendously easy to collaborate with and they are fairly priced. The shop is also fun to be in! The guys are all really cool and funny and it feels like you're just hanging out with your friends. It helps you forget you're getting tiny needles stabbed in to your skin. Justin is magic! My partner has been getting work done on a sleeve of armour (and then some) and the work is truly stunning. Justin has tattooed me as well and I am always over the moon with the result. I also had a tattoo done by Drew and am just as satisfied. And the best part is that they contribute to the community. I've never been disappointed...expect by certain customers who disparage the establishment because of their own misperceptions & lack of reading ability...or reading comprehension. The guys go out of their way to ensure prospective clients understand their roles and responsibilities, as well as, encouraging each client to review artist portfolios to find an artist/artists who share their particular artistic flair. Most tattoo artists aren't in the biz for their people skills. I chose Mike because his work is amazing; you might have a great experience with him. However, I wanted something less extravagant or detailed than his normal work, yet somewhat challenging to proportion to the body. He haphazardly tried free-handing it on me in pen about eight times, and kept drawing it crooked. It was a mess of lines. This was a simple idea that needed excellent execution to look good. I wasn't looking for perfection, but his willingness to get it correct and his bedside manner were not acceptable. Not a good communicator and he definitely resented being given instructions on how to correct what was wrong. He was also dismissive of my concerns. I felt pressured to compromise on my modest requests (i.e., make it straight and very well proportioned) because I was tired of annoying him with my dissatisfaction and it got awkward... But you know what? I'm not going to look at a crooked, disproportioned tattoo for the rest of my life. I told him to keep the deposit and have a nice night, I'll go to someone else. It's a shame because he can do great work, but he can't communicate and wasn't very careful with me. $50 I'll never get back, but I made the right choice... Read Less

So disappointed as I had heard amazing things about Thor... my sister and I wanted to get matching tattoos but we're going to be on a walk in basis as they were booked 2-6 weeks out... we called at the beginning of the week to see if they had days that were slower than others in hopes we would get in. Decided on Sunday. We went in there as soon as they opened. Not a person in sight and told them we would be walk ins. They told us there was no way that they could get us in. Both guys were rude, didn't even ask us what we were looking for and after telling us no, went back to looking at their screens and ignoring us. Came in for my 18th birthday with a custom design I've been wanting for years. First impression was the clear windows, great lighting, and cleanliness. I chose Jake Wells because my design was Celtic in nature and his portfolio was impressive. Jake was professional and my piece turned out better than I had dreamed it up in my head. Jake answered my questions with competence and his station was sterile and safe. Rates are fair for the tremendous work that Jake, and the other artists here at Thor's turn out. I got my first tattoo here a few months after my 18th birthday. When I first arrived at the shop I was warmly greeted. A nice gentleman asked if I had any questions and said to look at each of the artists portfolio too see which one would fit my tattoo wants. I was going for a good artist for skulls and  I happened to pick Justin (now owner), we scheduled an appointment and put down a down payment. Side tangent.... When I first met Justin that day I knew I would like him instantly, he is personable and professional, intelligent and genuinely kind... Back to story... So a few weeks later I came in for my appointment, I had my partner come in with me because I was nervous. Justin was attentive to detail and sanitation as he prepared for the tattoo, he was cracking jokes and making me feel comfortable. When the time came for the needle to hit my skin he gave me plenty of notice ( for a first timer this helped so much) and began. The tattoo was easer than I had thought and he was impressed with my pain tolerance. He made sure to give me plenty of breaks and water. When the tattoo was finished I was able to look at it in the mirror and I must say I was more that pleased!! He took the idea I had and made it 110% better than I had even imagined! ( I love it when artists can really express themselves) I loved( still love)  every detail, it was clean and the lines were perfect! You can tell he pours  his heart into his work. He wrapped it up for me and told me some tips to keeping it clean and healthy. Needless to say I have gotten many more tattoos from him since then ( I am almost 21). My fiance and I were looking into getting tattoos, so we went in and wanted to know about a price quote.  They did not ask what kind of tattoo we wanted or anything, they said it was $125/hr and first we'd have to pick an artist and then put down a $50 deposit before talking to them and finding out how long it would take for them to do it. They also had an open bay design meaning anyone walking in could see everything they were doing - I would not have felt comfortable being there with my shirt off for anyone to see. I have been to a few other tattoo shops both for myself and with friends and this is hands down the best shop around and I recommend them to everyone looking to get work done. The shop is clean and very professional and doesn't make you feel like you don't belong there or make you feel stupid when you ask questions like some shops do. My partner has been seeing Justin for well over a year getting a large piece worked on and every time a little more is done I am more and more amazed. I walked in with no idea which artist I wanted and was told (by Jake) their policy is for clients to look at everyone's portfolio and make a decision based on their work. We set up an appointment to view the art and another for the tat. Very little pain, great humor during the inking, no issues after. The shop is clean and sterile, the staff is great. First of all I'm not reviewing for art work but for service so scroll on if you don't give a fuck about it cuz then you'll be fine with this place. I came in with my husband to look at portfolios. I wanted to get this one tattoo on my finger but the idea was immediately shut down. First of all it was Justin who 'answered my questions'.  Apparently i should think more on how i should hide this art so people don't judge me in the future. Too bad people are gonna judge no matter what. In fact i have piercings on my face and you know what? I'm doing fine with those and i do not take them off.  I did decide not to get it because he said the design i wanted would look shitty in 5 years which is the ONLY thing i agreed with.  but the rest was unnecessary and repetitive probably cuz im 10 years old and think these tattoo thingies are going to come off with a barbie bubble bath and is gonna feel like a fuzzy caterpillar on my skin when stuck on. Right. Then he went on saying many military guys get tattoos on their arms and end up losing their jobs because of it. Bullshit Unless you cross the regulations they assign. Yeah, my husband is in the military and he's doing a good damn job with it all while keeping up with his tattoos. Dude needs to practice his conversation and representation skills. Art at this place looked great but there's more to business than just the result you are looking for. It is a whole entire process they should guide you through and the the way this guy presented the shop and himself was...wait for it...shitty. You could spend a long time looking for a good tattoo shop and never find one like this. I was lucky enough to be referred by a friend.  Sometimes you encounter tattoo artists who want to give you their idea of what your peice should look like; not so here.The staff is friendly and incredibly gifted, and the young lady who did my tattoo, Erica, was patient and extensive, as well as excited while listening in great detail to everything I wanted done to the second portion of my back piece. She asked numerous questions, and even came up with some great ideas that I had not thought to put into the piece. So far I have only had the outline done, but it turned out gorgeous and far better than anything I had hoped for.  I have been receiving compliments left and right. and am looking froward to going back in on the 23rd to get coloring. I didn't get a tattoo here, I got my eyebrow pierced. I was walking through downtown Poulsbo during the summer with my mom and we decided to check out the art in Thor's since we knew they were apart of the Art Walk and I was thinking of getting a new piercing. When we went inside and learned that the piercer wasn't in, Rich said that he would call him and get him in ASAP. My mom and I left for grocery shopping and I get a call 20 minutes later saying they've got him in. Rich was a totally nice guy, I've never gotten such great customer service anywhere.But anyway, this is the best piercing studio I have ever been to. Marcus, the piercer, was completely nice and funny. He calmed my nerves (I always get so nervous when a needle is about to be put through my face!) and even gave me a discount when I mentioned that I work for a non-profit youth center. The piercing process was very clean and quick, and my mom enjoyed the coffee table book of old-school monster movies.
