I was in last Saturday and it was crazy busy. However Callie and Anna did a great job getting everyone in and out while maintaining great attitudes and customer service. I have 6 cartilage piercings and got them all at deep roots- all at this location. I was lucky to have Callie helping me- she has been the most knowledgeable and pleasant associate I've been helped by at deep roots. I always walk away generally satisfied- but this time I was genuinely impressed. She showed me my options for jewelry based off of the piercing and the metal I wanted, and I told her I'd need a while to pick my piece and that she was welcome to help someone else in the meantime. She did and that customer turned out to be, In my opinion exceptionally difficult and borderline rude, but Callie was pleasant throughout, had detailed answers for all of her questions and offered as much information as she could for the customer, without disdain. Another key point- she never acknowledged how rude the customer before me was, to me, another customer, which happens way too often. A customer should never hear your complaints about another customer, and it was clear Callie understood that. She greeted everyone as they entered, and made sure to help everyone in the order they entered- it's clear she knows all of the principles to great customer service and if I could I'd have her train my employees. I got my first tattoo here and the front desk people were very kind and welcoming. My deposit was handled properly, however, the overall cost was a bit pricey. I got a simple black & white image across the length of my outer forearm. No shadowing or anything and it cost almost $200. Regardless, I am very happy with my tattoo and it turned out great. The reason I give this place 3 stars instead of 5 is because the tattoo artist (Paul) was very unfriendly. When he drew the first design, it didn't look quite how I wanted it to look and when I asked him to change a part of it, you could visibly see that he was annoyed. Keep in mind, that was my first and only time asking to make a revision to the stencil. He said something along the lines of, "Well this isn't what we discussed before." I could imagine him being annoyed if I wanted to drastically change the design or something but the revision I asked him to make did not affect the size of shape of the tattoo whatsoever. It was simply just moving the text, all within the same perimeters of what he had originally showed me. Overall just unwelcoming. Even my sister mentioned how he was a bit rude. Their other location is really fantastic, and this review is about my experience with just one staff member at this specific location. The woman they have managing the floor, Saacha, I found to be rude, condescending, sarcastic and dismissive of my questions. I ended up apologizing to her after every question - to really make sure she knew I was aware that she was acting like my existence was an inconvenience. She didn't lose the attitude. I also watched another staff member interact with her and you could tell this person was trying very hard to be extra over the top nice to this girl who just seems like the school yard bully. So impressed with this tattoo shop. I've been wanting a big piece for awhile but could not find a shop that had a good vibe. Right when I walked in the gal behind the desk welcomed me and I told her what I wanted and she introduced me to Chris. Got my rook pierced after speaking with Kyle one of the piercers about the look I wanted and he recommended it. And I love it,healing great and everything was so sterile. The reason for the 3 stars is I was deciding between the turquoise and opal stud for the barbell. (My piercing lingo is not perfect) I chose the opal as it was simple and would go with everything. After my piercing I noticed they in fact pierced me with the wrong color. At this point I was not going to put up a fight as they were swamped and they have a very strict no touching the jewelry rule so I couldn't have them toss it. Then PAYMENT. They are not very forthcoming with everything. When you pick the jewelry to be pierced with you pay for that PLUS the barbell and the ball at the end,and then your chose of earring $$$ which ranges from $20,30 to $300+... So my $60 piercing cost me $120. I felt kinda scammed. I won't be returning and will find someone a little more decently priced. Just had my third piercing done here, this time my septum by Kyle Rasmussen. He was friendly, professional, and never made me feel anything other than comfortable and welcome. He kept things relaxed while maintaining a clean and sterile environment. He did the piercing freehand without a clamp and it's perfectly aligned. I'd go back to him any time. I have only ever gotten piercings at this shop and they are experts. I would highly recommend for both piercings and jewelry changes. A few times I have run into problems with my piercings (my own clumsiness) and the piercers have given me both advice and help for free. What a great experience! I took my daughter here to get her upper ear pierced for her 14th birthday. I didn't want to take her to Claire's or Silver safari because I don't trust them. We arrived as walk ins and were quickly greeted even though there were many people inside the building. I can't remember the girl who helped us, but she was very informative and asked about allergies before picking out an earring, this to me is a huge bonus since my daughter does have sensitive ears. After waiting about 20 mins (again, we were walk-ins) we got brought back to the area to have my daughters ear pierced. It was very clean and sterile. The guy who pierced her ear was absolutely great with her and great at explaining what to expect. The only downside to this place is the cost. It would be great if the prices of the earrings were out, as it was my daughter picked a 155.00 earring!!! And yes, that's earring, as in singular and that didn't include the piercing. It was definitely more than I had expected to spend, but I would easily recommend this place to others! Read Less

Updates to 4 stars. I talked to a manager and the the owner of the shop agreed to pierce my septum for me. It's only human to make mistakes now and then so I'm not mad at the person who did my septum originally but the thought of going back to him again just didn't make sense. I absolutely love this place, I got my nostril pierced here back in September and I had been wanting it for years so I was sooo excited! The woman at the front desk was so kind! I had never been to a place where you got to pick your own jewelry so deciding was hard but I explained I wanted something super subtle for work and she took the time and helped me chose this gorgeous chocolate color stud that was also small and could maybe pass as a freckle lol. The wait was probably 30-45 minutes but it wasn't even bad because they had a really good playlist on and I wasn't in a rush. My piercer Luke was amazing, hands down. He was explaining everything clearly and was super funny it made the whole vibe super chill and relaxed. He did the piercing swiftly and answered all my questions about aftercare and the gauge of the jewelry. It was such an amazing experience even my mom was super impressed with the place and was saying she might get something done!Fast forward to February and I'm back again to get my septum done! I went at night so there was a lot more staff around and it was pretty busy like last time. The new woman at the front desk was just as kind as the one I had originally and asked me straight away if I needed to hide it which I did and she explained the difference between getting a retainer or a horseshoe/curved barbell I think it was, having her explain it was super helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone working there is super knowledgeable! The waiting again wasn't that big of an issue and when I got into the room it was so quick! I talked to Dave(it might have been David?) about his really unique and cool piercings and he was super friendly. When he did the actual piercing it was spot on the sweet spot, I didn't feel ANYTHING, like genuinely felt like he went through butter I was so amazed since I had heard people say it was the worst pain of their life or even that their eyes had watered but he really knew what he was doing and I'm thankful for that.In conclusion the people that work here know their stuff and are super friendly and funny. I can not speak more highly of the staff, the parlor, and the professionalism in all they did. I have a severe anxiety with needles, and I came to have my ears pierced for the first time. My piercer Ben was so calm and made sure to explain everything he was doing, assured me that if I felt uncomfortable at any point or just didn't want to go any further, all I had to do was say so. He was very precise with the measurement of the earring placement. Once it was time for the piercing, he took me through some simple breathing exercises and the final one to pierce made it almost painless. You do pay a higher price for the piercings as well as the jewelry, but for the service and quality, it was absolutely worth it. I will certainly be returning to Ben for future piercing endeavors!! I came in to look at new jewelry for my nostril piercings, and Sarah and Ben were amazing! I left with a new conch piercing (Sarah helped me pick out the perfect jewelry for it), new jewelry for an old cartilage piercing, and Ben made several calls on my behalf to seek out some gold beads for my nostril piercings. Even after forgetting to enter in my rewards info, redeeming rewards after the initial service and making a second purchase for which Ben and Sarah had to help me AGAIN, they were nothing short of pleasant and wonderful and never made me feel like I was taking up their time. I had very high expectations, and when I spoke to one of the girls on the phone I was treated very nice and given all the info I needed. However when I came in the person who was at the desk was not welcoming at all. We went in on a walk in for a kid piercing who we were told that the decision was up to the piercers and that they would usually talk to the kid and see if they were coherent and okay with the choice of getting pierced and as long as the piercer felt comfortabl...e. Now this lady didn't even make eye contact with my child and spoke to her from above and around the desk and didn't introduce herself to her at all just asked her "how old are you?" While my kid was looking at the jewelry distracted, that's not how you treat someone. Then she said no didn't even ask the piercer. Either the person who spoke to me over the phone was misinformed and super nice or this lady just outright didn't want us as costumers which doesn't make sense. I finally decided to go for it and get my nose pierced. I was a bit nervous but everyone at the shop was really cool and relaxed. I chose a titanium stud and they pierced my nose. It honestly was nearly painless. Well I got home and really did NOT like the titanium and was disappointed (totally 100% my bad). The next day I went back and they were so cool about my fuck up and told me they could fix it. I chose a gold and diamond flower and basically had to get repi...erced. It hurt more then the first time, but literally stopped hurting at all the next morning. Also I LOVE my piercing now !!!! They didn’t even charge me a repeircing fee. I came in to Deep Roots to get a nose stud put in my piercing because the nose screw I had was getting caught on everything and not healing. I explained that the piercing was new so there needed to be room for swelling. The piercer put in a stud and over the next week, it developed a tender bump and really hurt from the swelling cutting in. When I went in to get a longer post and explained the situation, the manager insisting on charging me for the new post even though it was *their* fault that the wrong size was put in to begin with. It may have been 2 years since I was harshly rejected not moments after walking into Deep Roots, but I sure know how to hold a grudge! Especially after recently being treated so wonderfully by another tattoo & piercing shop. I came here on my 16th birthday to get my septum pierced, and since I didn't have a valid state ID, I brought my birth certificate along with my mother and her valid driver's license. On the Deep Roots website, under the F&Q's, this should have been enough. Instead, I was barely acknowledged, had to awkwardly stand around the front cases while two employees talked amongst themselves, and waited for a good ten to fifteen minutes before one of them begrudgingly came by to ask if I needed help. When I explained to them my situation, they took a look at both my birth certificate, (which had my mothers name on it as my legal guardian) my mothers license, and then continued to ask me questions about my birth date, middle name, etc., (which I assume was to make sure it belonged to me.) After this rigorous process, they asked me again if I had a valid state ID, which I said I didn't, and then they said they couldn't perform the piercing because that was required. My mother pulled up the F&Q page on their website and said she read it thoroughly and showed them that it nowhere says I MUST bring an ID. The lady who was ''helping'' us just shrugged and walked away, without really answering why my certificate was invalid. I swear, not two seconds later, a group of girls walks in behind me, loudly yelling about how they want tattoo's across the room, and two different employees came rushing by to help them immediately. My mother and I stood there, confused if we were going to be helped, and then the other employee's just glared at us sort of awkwardly until we left. Basically a letdown of what should've been a simple experience, and the vibe kind of turned me off the rest of the day. If I were to advise anything about this location, it would be to stay away unless you're someone who weirdly likes to be ignored by the business you're only trying to help support.TL;DR Deep Roots doesn't care about their F&A's page and you MUST bring an ID to get anything done around here. I called yesterday to come in to replace three tiny earrings. I bought new earrings and the lady over the phone said that it would be fine to come on in. I came in and the piercer told me he wasn't going to do it. It's simple and easy and they wanted $5.00 when I spoke to the lady. (I have no problem paying to switch them out) Why cant they do it? The piercer said due to the the Quality of the earrings he didn't wanna be reliable ( I get that he didn't want to be reliable..but the earrings I bought are good Quality and the piercing is healed fully) While waiting in line before all this a customer spent over $100.00 to get something pierced. After the piercer told me no, they then asked if I wanted to purchase other earrings so they can do it.... I'm thinking WOOOOOOW... the 1st time and LAST TIME I will go here in regards  of a piercing. Waste of my time. Just felt that they lied and didn't want to help me out... I spent way more money than I should have to get three ear piercings here when I was 16, and at first I thought they turned out great. Fast forward FOUR years, and the bottom piercing still hadn't healed. It would seem okay for a week then randomly get super puss filled and swollen and almost engulf the whole earring. I couldn't get the jewelry out no matter what I did. I eventually had to go to a different piercer, and it took them almost 30 minutes of them trying to get out my jewelry before they decided they had to cut the jewelry with wire cutters because it was cross threaded. When we finally got my own jewelry in, and the swelling went down, it was completely crooked and looked horrible as if I did it myself. I've had two piercings done by Luke so far this summer and my experience both times was outstanding! Any nerves I had about either experience were instantly diminished as soon as he started talking with me and joking around. He's such a nice guy and an even better piercer. The first time I came here was for my 16th birthday to get a nose piercing a little over two years ago. Hendrick pierced it; he was warm and friendly and made the experience exciting and fun. Fast forward to today, a bit impulsively, my cousin and I decided to get both of our tragus's pierced. We were greeted by a very energetic, funny and personable man who walked us through our jewelry pieces, explained the piercing to us and even some great small talk, he definitely made the experience ten times better. We then showed our ID's, filled out some paperwork and took a seat in the waiting area. Forgot our piercers name, however it was a woman. We waited for about 25 minutes and someone else was called before us. Another 15 went by. Then another customer came through the door and she saw him first so another 5 minutes rolled by. By this time, it had already been 45 minutes of us sitting and waiting. She then came out and told us it'll be another five minutes to clean the jewelry (said she didn't forget about us so we don't worry) before she can pierce us so another 10 minutes rolled by. By this time, it was roughly an HOUR of waiting. Our nerves died down a bit by that time so I guess some positivity came from waiting that long but honestly we were coming to a point where we began to become annoyed. FINALLY, she calls us in. She was a bit odd, swore, which I didn't mind but did surprise me. She was kind and told us some good stories and experiences. The piercing itself was felt like more pressure than my nose piercing did but I didn't tear up like my nose piercing and it was over with about two seconds later. My ear didn't even bleed or anything. She placed it very well, was professional and clean. She only told us about the care when we asked so not sure if she was going to or wasn't but regardless it was a job well done. We were greeted with the same man who talked us through the jewelry pieces at the beginning and again was funny and really made the experience all in all much better. We payed and left satisfied and happy with our piercing. I would've given four stars but honestly the wait time really did bug us. S/O to the great guy who helped us out in the beginning and end, wish I could've caught his name, maybe I forgot all in all, it's a good spot to go for piercings especially if you're pretty new to getting anything done. My daughter (6) and I had our ears pierced by Kyle today. He took the time to carefully explain everything to her, and make sure she felt comfortable. He spent a while making sure the dots were in just the right spots before piercing, and both ears were done in less than 90 seconds. I had an absolute horrible experience with this shop, specifically their piercer Luke. I would not recommend ANYONE going here to get a piercing, ESPECIALLY female genital piercings! I wanted my nipples and triangle done, so I called ahead and asked if anyone had experience with triangles and they assured me all their staff had experience with (this rather advanced) piercing. Went in to get it done and was immediately put off by the attitudes and general disposition of the staff, who were talking about " going to the fucking strip clubs" and generally being very unprofessional. I brushed the language off, thinking, hey, it's a rowdy bunch.     I was taken back to have my anatomy checked out to see if I was suited and it was a go. The piercing itself went fine and was professional. I, however, was completely floored when the bill came to 320$! They never disclosed how much the jewelry cost, and I had no idea the rather plain hematite balls I chose were so expensive (170$?!?!).  I paid and left, feeling like an idiot and like I got ripped off. Afterwards I went home and checked out the triangle closer and it was COMPLETELY crooked, the one side way more shallow than the other, AND a half an inch away from the base of my hood where it's supposed to be! I called the next day and was told to come in and have it looked at, again by Luke. I did so and sure enough, he agreed it was crooked and took it out. He wanted me to come back a week later so he could repierce it "for free" but I absolutely declined. Why would I want a piercer that clearly is inexperienced and has no business performing an advanced piercing like that to "try again?" He doesn't even have the basic knowledge of where it's supposed to go! I told him I just wanted a refund. He told me I had to deal with all that stuff at the front desk. The girl there said she need to speak to the owner as they "didn't give refunds." After all said and done, they would only refund me the 35$ it cost to get the piercing done, but not the 170$ ring. Money down the toilet.     After some research I will be taking Elayne Angel's referral and go to Chuck at Pierced Hearts and I recommend all to do the same! Read Less

I got my nose pierced here two years ago and it was great. I came in recently for a smaller stud and they were very nice and accommodating. However, I had to take out the piercing for a volunteer job and lost the inside piece of the piercing. The second part with the gem fell out of my nose a few hours later so I wanted to stop by and see if it was closed up or not. I drove up front at 8:41PM and the "OPEN" sign was off. I went up to the door and sure enough, it said they close at 9. I went back to my car and saw the guy that helped me last time wiping the display cases. I called and no one picked up but I literally saw him inside ignoring the call, before their closing time! I guess I should have called because it was a little last minute but whatever. Read Less

I purchased an expensive gem jewelry for a navel piercing. I was excited that I didnt fully examine it after the procedure at the shop. When I got home, it was then I realized they put a standard silver ball for the top ball instead of the gem set I paid for. I immediately called them and they said they didn't have the top gem for that style and to call the Seattle or Bellevue location. EDIT: I spoke with Johnny from the Seattle location and it was such a relief to speak with someone who expressed empathy, has honest business practices, and fixed the situation. Read Less

I just wanted to say that my first experience with the Alderwood location was fantastic! Felix was knowledgeable and more than willing to help, and Taryn (I don't know if that's how you spell it?) was ridiculously friendly and sweet. I got my helix done and was able to buy a new plug for I'd lost one that morning, plus bought a new stud for my nose.... Felix was very helpful and his customer service is just stellar. Went there today to get my helix and rook piercings done. The girl at the front desk was super helpful and friendly and the piercing equipment used was really sterile and seemed legit. My piercer made sure I was comfortable, answered all my questions, and talked me through the process while she was piercing me. I got a sternum dermal piercing about a week ago at another shop and they pierced me with too small of a top so this morning I woke up with my skin swelling almost completely over the dermal. Luckily I know a piercer of 20 years who called Deep Roots and asked them to help me out. I showed up 20 minutes before close and they were super awesome and informational about how they were going to fix it. Kyle removed my dermal and replaced it with the right size in maybe five minutes and they only charged me for the jewelry. I now know where to go for all future piercings and where to send everyone. I went today to get a simple tattoo on my wrist. The man drew up the tattoo and it looked great! I then asked if I it could be alittle thicker along the lines, and he then informed me that the tattoo was a nogo, he gave no explanation other than the tattoo wouldn't be worth his time and money because of how little it was. I almost didn't go to Deep Roots for my nose piercing because of its "just ok" reviews. This shop is great. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. The girl helping me was so sweet and patient with my indecisiveness. The piercer was knowledgeable and relaxed, and he joked with me to make sure I had a good experience. Afterwards, I was given clearly written instructions for aftercare as well as a large portion of sea salt to create the cleaning solution. All in all, great experience. Read Less

The best place to go for piercings with their unmatched customer service, easy parking, and convenient location and hours. They seem to genuinely value every customer.I had my nose pierced initially in April 2015, and got a second nose piercing about a week ago. Kyle did the second piercing, it was absolutely painless, and when I didn't like the initial placement (after the needle had gone through my nose) he re-pierced it without issue and with complete compassion and empathy. I came to this deep roots about a year ago to get my cartilage pierced with my friend. The piercing looked fine, I came home and did all the necessary cleaning that they instructed me on to do to treat my cartilage piercing. A couple months later, I noticed that there is a bubble by the piercing hole and I had heard of people getting bubbles on their piercings before and you're not supposed to pop it. I went to another professional piercer and they told me that the piercer had COMPLETELY and UTTERLY BOTCHED my piercing. Not only was there a bubble on both side of my ear, they informed me that this piercing would NEVER HEAL PROPERLY because the piercer COMPLETELY messed up when piercing my ear. They informed me that the way they had pierced my ear was at a complete slant. They told me to immediately take out the piercing and that I would have to seek out a doctor to somehow fix the huge bubble on my ear. I wouldgive this place zero stars for how awfully they messed up my ear but that's not possible. All I can say is DO NOT go here, there piercers clearly don't know what they are doing. Read Less

I am very happy with this shop, I came in not knowing anything about nipple piercings and the guy at the front desk was extremely helpful. I decided that I would look at another piercing place and so I went then I came back because I just felt comfortable and I was in good hands. I loveeee my piercer Kellan Smith, he made me feel at ease and my experience was just so amazing. I was so nervous, but once they were pierced I was very happy with them. Was looking for a quick jewelry replacement for a nose piercing. First impression was....very clean, I was greeted immediately, although it was busy, several employees let me know they'd be with me shortly.Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, jewelry assortment was good, and they switched it out for me with ease.Because of the anatomy of my nose I've had difficulty with people bending the jewelry and it being uncomfortable, but this is the best fit I've had.Wish I would've gone there originally to have the piercing!Will definitely be back again and again!
