Worst customer services I have ever experienced. They made us feel like we were not worth their time. Had us come back 2 hours later and the stencil they made was not very well done at all. They clearly didn't put much effort into it and didn't pay attention to the examples we showed . My daughter wanted a tattoo on her 18th birthday (yesterday) . I looked on yelp and found Old Gold to have the highest rating in Whatcom County . We walked in off the street. We were treated very well and the customer service extended past Saul who was our tattoo artist. They even went out of their way to make my youngest feel welcome. $200 for 17 minutes worth of a touch up after getting a 35 minute tattoo that cost an additional $240. That's sure a cocky hourly rate on their part. Not to mention they only accept cash. I really like Old Gold! Long story short, one of the employees messed up on my tattoo. That night he was fired, and the manager is going to fix it for me at no charge. For a while I had been admiring this shop and the artists that inhabit it--so about a year ago I decided I wanted to inquire with the artist who's working I was particularly fond of, Chucho, and make an appointment. Without meeting in person prior to the day, because I about an hour outside of Bellingham, we managed to completely work and plan everything out via social media. I didn't get to see my tattoo before I went in to my appointment (completely understandable--security reasons!) but I wasn't worried at all. Upon arrival I was nervous going in to a new shop but my nerves were quickly gone when I walked in and was greeted and welcomed right away by all of the employees. I met Chucho, he showed me what he'd drawn up from my ideas and I was ecstatic, although I had one request. I wanted it in black and grey. Having planned to do it in color, he had absolutely no hesitation to change that for me and we got started. Being a somewhat quiet person, Chucho made me completely comfortable and was able to initiate and hold a conversation with me the entire time. My piece turned out fantastic and to this day it is still one of my favorites. Just a few days ago I made a trip back up to the shop to meet up with Chucho again and let him tackle my arm with some more of his stunning, bold, traditional work--but this time we used color and oh my gosh it's the most vivid and impressive tattoo I've had done on me. Hands down my absolute favorite piece. I got to the shop around noon and two friends and I ended up hanging around with the crew all day and just having a good time, fun talks and getting tattooed. I've never felt more welcomed and at home and been treated so great in a shop as I have in Old Gold. I am more than happy to make the trip up north just to go to this shop at any time and I would recommend it with the highest regard to anybody who's looking to get some high quality, bold and bright ink done. I really like this place! Got my second tattoo there today. Super fast, super easy. The service was friendly and it was a reasonable price. The shop is also really clean. They accept walk ins or you can make an appointment. It's cash only so make sure you have enough on you! I just got something small on my arm and it wasn't even painful. They made sure it was exactly what I wanted and where I wanted it. The shop alone is pretty cool, they have all the artists work up and you can take your time looking through the designs. First, I emailed Old Gold via Yelp to see if they would be willing to re-ink a tattoo. They quickly responded yes. I walked in today & met KC at the desk. He took a look at my tattoo and gave me a quote. He was careful to explain that he wasn't familiar with kanji and would need assistance knowing where the breaks in the symbols should be. I appreciated his candor. While he was cleaning up from his previous client I browsed through pictures of his work. His watercolor pieces are beautiful, especially the humming bird. As KC got to work he explained each step of the re-ink, including the colors, and that once he was finished he would consider it his tattoo. Even though he didn't do the original tat, he took great care to make sure I was happy with his work. I'm not in the market for another piece, but if I were I would go to KC in a heartbeat! Got my third tattoo here at Old Gold in Bellingham. At first I was kind of nervous to get tatted here in Bellingham cause I wasn't sure how experienced the artists were being in a smaller town. However, my doubts quickly disappeared after I talked to the artists at Old Gold. All three of the artists there were very helpful and welcoming, listening to what I wanted and asking if I had a price range. TL;DR this place is phenomenal, go get tatted here. Shoutout to KC for being rad.I was looking for a place for my first tattoo, and a friend of a friend recommended KC to me. Since I was out of state at the time, he set up a time to speak with me via phone and schedule an appointment and discuss design. He was incredibly accommodating and thoughtful about the design process, and really listened to my ideas and what I wanted and then drafted a design for me (which was even better than I'd imagined). Since it was my first tattoo, he was really great about addressing my concerns and questions without making me feel like an idiot for asking basic questions. The actual tattooing was great also - he took care in positioning the design, and then shifted it a few times, til he found a placement I liked. He was very calm and friendly throughout the whole process, and made me feel totally at ease (I also learned so much about tattoos - he has a wealth of knowledge about tattoo history and design and it is SUPER interesting). Aftercare was clearly explained, and when I called back a few days later with random questions to make sure my tattoo was healing okay, he made himself available and gladly answered them. My tattoo turned out fine I suppose, I don't know the artist or anything now but I know I went in to get a tattoo on my hand and was told he wouldn't do it because I was a girl. I ended up getting something tiny (smaller than an inch) on my wrist and it cost me over a 100 dollars, and now it's already starting to fade less than a year later. Read Less

I went here after having a poor experience at the last tattoo shop I had gone to, and I have to say, the improvement is vast. I walked in, hoping to get tattooed that day, and one of the artists came over immediately to check if I had been helped yet. I had to wait because he had one person ahead of me, but it was no big deal at all. I gave him my request and he fulfilled it in such a great time and manor. Also no judgment for getting a Disney tattoo, as I had been at another shop.Honestly, the only complaint I have is the pricing. It seems a bit steep, but the quality is so nice, I really can't complain too much about that. I have been to many shops trying to find the best tattoo artist and shop for me, and I have to say, this place is the one in Bellingham that makes me feel happy to go into and get a new tattoo.
