When I initially made the appointment the guy there was pretty rude. It was busy that day so I just thought he was having a bad day or something. I'm not sure why my experience has been so different from others, but I'm not happy. I was quoted a price of several hundred dollars for a piece. I paid in full early on plus gave him a hundred dollar tip. After several sessions I can't get him to call me back to finish it and he refuses to refund any of the cost. To preface, this review is specifically for the artist Alex Ivy. In my estimation, when one wants to get something as permanent as a tattoo, one goes to no one but the best. A true artist in ever sense of the word, and without a doubt, Alex encompasses artistry in every facet of the word. Not only is she a tattoo artist, but also a musical artist (check her out), which I believe lends only a deeper understanding of the medium to her that she weaves expertly into every piece she designs. Now, in the interest of painting an apt portrayal of this esteemed artist, I'll detail a bit of background on my experience with her. My skin is a tricky canvas to master, while it absorbs ink readily, it also bleeds it out just as quickly. Being an unexpected hurdle, I was understandably dismayed, but Alex never seemed daunted in the least. With each new piece she worked on for me, she demonstrated her deft skill by adjusting technique and expertly making sure my stubborn epidermis retained every ounce of ink administered. The truly surprising aspect is not that she defeated a rather significant issue, which she did, but that cleanliness of lines and pristine designs did not suffer in the least. It goes without saying, Alex is an artist to watch. So, whether you have a design you'd like her to put a twist on, or one of your own fathoming; you will leave her chair delighted with the end result. My husband and I looked around on yelp to find someone in Auburn to do are matching tattoos last minute. Cody is not only a gentleman, but he is an extremely talented tattoo artist. I presented my ideas and he brought the design to life. On my appointment date, Cody showed me a feminine font, at which time I pulled out the two fonts that I had narrowed down and one was the exact font. It is as though Cody knew exactly what I wanted based on my consultation weeks prior. Derm F/X tattoo recently acquired Chris Cricket Johnson as their piercer. If anyone reading this is considering getting a new piercing, make the drive to his new home to see him. No matter where you are coming from, he's your guy and worth your drive. Chris was by far my favorite person to do business with at his old workplace (I had work done by 3 different people there over the course of 3 years). He has done my helix, tragus, and most recently, my eyebrow piercing. He has never failed to make my experience comfortable and keeps a super clean, private area. He walks you through everything he is doing and doesn't look at you or talk to you condescendingly if you are nervous, he instead takes extra time to make sure you are okay with his process. Not only is he reasonably priced, he is the only piercer I have been to that has not tried to rip me off by trying to charge extra for the jewelry or by trying to sell expensive and unnecessary aftercare products. He also keeps up a good conversation while he is working and is genuinely interested in talking to you. A few weeks ago, I brought a friend in to see Chris to get her nose pierced. She was concerned about the size of the jewelry, as she is an educator and wanted something very low profile. Chris did not try to up sell her, but did discuss all jewelry options with her in order to get her the best possible option. Upon piercing her nose, it was discovered that she is a bleeder. Like a geyser bleeder. He kept calm, asked for assistance, made her comfortable, and (even though he had 4 other people waiting in the lobby) made sure she was okay afterwards and let her stay as long as she needed to be sure of that. He even bought her a soda when she told him that the rubbing alcohol used to clean blood off her face had dropped through her nasal cavity to the back of her throat. If this isn't an example of above and beyond caring and customer service, I don't know what is!Sorry for the novel review, but the bottom line is that as long as I have a body to pierce, Chris has my business. You can't put a price tag on 20 years of experience and exemplary service. Derm F/X has acquired a true gem. Worst tattoo experience in my life! I had a consultation with Jay and was scheduled to have my tattoo done mid February. I was rescheduled twice - the first time I understood as it was due to an emergency, but then he had to reschedule AGAIN and both times, I got less than a 24 hour notice (was texted the Friday night before a Saturday afternoon session). When trying to reschedule again, I could not get a response after three different attempts. I chose this place as it was recommended to me by someone I knew and I really liked some of his previous work that I have seen, but I will not get a tattoo from someone who cannot even communicate with their customer! I have been to several tattoo shops over the years and I have quite a few tattoos. I went here to get pierced and also took my daughter to do the same. Shop was dirty, people we seen weren't friendly (except for the piercing dudes) and the room that they did the piercings in looked makeshift, not professional. When waiting to get pierced I looked around for the usual artists books of their work and didn't find any. If they were good I'd think they'd display their talent! Chentelle is absolutely amazing. I stumbled in this shop about two weeks ago inquiring about getting a tattoo. I was helped immediately. Chentelle took photos of my arm and all that good stuff. I got my tattoo done here yesterday and my experience was not good from the get go. My tattoo artist was a half an hour late because he was out to lunch even though he knew he had an appointment made with me at 2. When he returned with food in his hands I played the waiting game some more and the actual tattooing didn't begin until 3:30... My finished tattoo was overall beautiful, however, the quote that I got, read, "She is clothed in STRENGH and dignity and live without fear of the future"... Completely spelled strength incorrectly .... I was and still am SO disappointed since I have heard so many great reviews about this place...
