There is not enough words to describe what a fantastic artist Mike is. He did a large back piece of Calla Lillies that included a cover up as well. I am beyond in love with it. We had such a great experience here - we came for my daughter's 18th birthday and first tattoo.  Mike is a great guy.  We felt so at home in his "home"... Mike does work as well as any of the top names in the big cities with guys who charge $200 to $300 an hour and have a 4 month + wait. I'm glad to see that Mike is charging what he's worth, in the sense that for Anacortes, maybe it's pricey, but you get what you pay for (although in this case, you get more). Mike is one-man show. Attentive, amiable, yet firm. Walking into his shop is like walking into someone's home - it's open, warm, and not as intimidating as most of the parlors I've been in over the years. Not intimidating at all, as a matter of fact.It took me five years and a little over a thousand miles, but I decided that after communicating with nearly 10 artists (and for some, I use the term quite loosely) in over three states, Mike was the man for me. I wanted the best for my first tattoo.I wish I hadn't taken so long, and I was infinitely rewarded with my choice. It was such a thrilling feeling discussing my piece, and watching him carefully bring it to life. He made sure I was comfortable and informed through each step - before, during and after the inking. You want an original, unique and well done tatt?  Seek no further! Mike is your man!  Went here a couple years ago for a back/hip piece that took two visits to complete. I've never had more personal attention or professional treatment anywhere. This guy has been working for a LONG time in the industry and knows what he is doing. Everything is immaculate and on top of that he is a painter as well! His artist gallery is in the front, and note he does NOT do flash!  There is no flash in the front, so come in with your own idea in mind and/or a pic of what you want and he will work with you to create your own special work of art.  He charges a bit more than the norm around here, not much but a bit more and it's well worth it. He does not spare a detail and wants to please YOU.  Also he does not reproduce any tattoos he has done so if you end up in the portfolio you don't have to worry about that either. I have MUCHO respect for Mike, he kicks ass. Worth the drive and the price, not to mention the special healing balm he has made for him and sells is better than anything else on the market. Read Less
