Shawn did an amazing job creating my dragonfly tattoo. I showed him a few pictures of real dragonflies some to show the profile I wanted others to show shading and colors. He created exactly what I wanted and more. It's perfect! I couldn't be happier. Shawn's creativity, excellent sense of humor and overall great personality made the experience all the better. I set up an appointment online with Lillian to surprise my husband for his birthday. I told her what we wanted and she had the sketch ready the day of. Her appointment with another client ran 30 minutes late, but we had no problem with waiting. I was hesitant to bring my son in his infant carrier, but we had no choice because of a lack of a babysitter. However, the staff made us feel extremely comfortable sitting in the waiting area. I usually feel intimidated at a tattoo parlor, but every employee there makes you feel right at home. I would've gladly gotten a tattoo from any of them. The whole experience was great. I was a out of town walk in. I went there simply due to the reviews. Larry did my tattoo , he even put up with my shenanigans. Great bunch of guys, the ability and attention to detail is top notch. Had a simple tattoo done but the artist still took thier time and made sure it was a quality simple tattoo. The shop was clean and looks well kept. Needles were opened in front of me and all surfaces were sanitized prior to sitting in the seat. Staff is pretty cool too. Read Less

I hate to leave negative reviews, however after mulling this over for a long time I feel I need to. I was in Yorktown tattoo in June, can't remember the guys name but he tattooed a cloud and mountain background behind a pinup girl on my arm. The reason for a 2 is the guys at the shop were so nice, ordered pizza and fed me while I was getting tattooed. My issue- the tattoo I asked for seemed to be outside the skill set of my artist. I saw other work he did and it looked great, the shading on mine was inconsistent in places that didn't look correct, lines are not crisp and nice and I was grossly under estimated on price. I do understand that an estimate is a rough price, however I was estimated at taking 2.5 hours and $250, had I known that the tattoo would take 6 hours of actual ink time, not including draw time and breaks, I wouldn't have done it that day. The artist was nice enough to cut the price off since he was so far off, but that's not an experience that anyone wants and to still be almost double the estimated price wasn't cool. Unfortunately I won't be back to Yorktown tattoo, and would recommend others to verify that the requested tattoo is within the artists ability. Also unfortunately I'll be paying to have someone else attempt to fix the tat as best as possible. Read Less

Made an appointment 2 times and both times they canceled on me. Set up a 3rd time for Saturday was told they would get back with me and nothing. I understand things happen but it would of been nice to at least reply back. Lost my deposit also. O well jokes on me Read Less

Every time I look at my tattoo, I smile. Larry did an amazing job on it and made me feel at home in the studio. The artist make you feel like family and this can be seen in the time and effort they put into the art they create. I will definitely be going here for more tattoos in the future. Read Less

I am very underwhelmed.  The focus is not on you, but what's convenient for them.  They will try to push you to the on-site ATM to pay them cash despite being able to take credit cards.  I got my first tattoo here, and I regret it since the quality of the work is sub-par at best.  I won't be back even for a touch-up of the poor work. At first my thoughts about going to a private studio instead of a street shop were undecided. Upon arriving and seeing the tattoo room i was relieved it's not unlike any tattoo room I've seen in bigger studios. I was greeted with dinner that Brian had just made. You can't get that at a street shop! Once on the table getting ready to get started the first thing I noticed was his tattoo license hanging on the wall with his Red Cross certificates. Once started on the tattoo I noticed how much Brian was devoted to my tattoo time and the lack of interruptions that are always accompanied at street tattoo shops. Brian also seemed more inclined to give me extra time in the chair for my tattoo because there wasn't anyone waiting to get tattooed. I have to say my overall experience in private studio was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. I've been tattooed by Brian in street shop as well but I prefer getting tattooed from him at his private studio. Read Less

My sister and I went to Ancient art to get tattoos on our fingers. When we told the artist what we wanted she looked it up on-line, drew it on our fingers, and tattooed it. She never once gave us a warning that it is going to fade because a tattoo on your hands comes across daily obstacles (such as washing hands, fingers rubbing and moving, exposure to elements etc). We had already done the research and knew it would happen. She also did not give us any care instructions. Being as we both have multiple tattoos I didn't worry about that either. 2 Weeks later our tattoos are almost non existent. They didn't "fade", they were done incorrectly and turned out terrible. In contacting the shop we were told the tattoos were guaranteed and that we could go back to the SAME artist and have it redone. Needless to say we were not very happy about going to the same person but we also didn't want a tattoo that cost $50 to turn into a $200 tattoo. We went back and the "artist" said "oh yea i shoulda told you they fade". It is my understanding that the fading happens over years or even several months... not 2 weeks. And I also noticed the other artist in the shop had his fingers tattooed and they looked amazing and you could tell they have been there for years so the "fading" in 2 weeks excuse was not cutting it for me. We both sat through the tattoo again and hoped for the best. At 3 weeks the tattoos looked worse than the first time they were done. The lettering on my sisters fingers is awful and almost unrecognizable and the other tattoo on the side of our fingers is once again almost nonexistent. We emailed again and explained the situation and how disappointed we were and embarrassed to even have the tattoos now. The manager (JERRY) asked that we call him directly to discuss the situation. I called Jerry and he proceeded to call me a liar stating that he spoke to the artist and she said she told us all about hand tattoos in length and that all of the Ancient art artists are required to give you all the information and tell you hand tattoos are not a good idea. I tried to tell him what conversation was had at the shop and he continually cut me off when I was talking to tell me he has 30 years experience and finger tattoos fade. When I asked him if they are suppose to fade in 3 weeks he talked around the question and told me he was not going to debate it any longer. (i hadn't even gotten more than 10 words in at that point and was on the phone for less than 5 minutes) The only thing he could do is have us make an appointment with him and "maybe his tattoo would actually show up." I am completely mortified at this shop and wish I had never gone there. In no way am I saying that all the artists are this way but with the way the manager treats his clients I wouldn't risk going there for them to "maybe" give you a good tattoo.
