We got a family tattoo by Tony. He did them exactly how we wanted them. All 4 tattoos are done to perfection just how we described to him!!! Been coming here for over 20 years I guess. When I was first thinking of getting a tattoo I heard this was THE place to go - look no further. I can definitely say that it is. All the artists here are amazing. Beyond being extremely skilled, talented and creative, they are all very friendly and experienced in their trade and make sure you get a unique and quality tattoo. Jordan is just spectacular. Her Dad John got me started back in the day and now she handles my "body of work". She's done some pieces up against the original pieces that he did that are seamless - I can't tell the difference. I'm more amazed every time I come here and each time I can't wait to come back. A few months ago I lost my fiancé to a car accident and I immediately wanted a memorial tattoo to remember him by. I have plenty of tattoos and even worked in tattoo shops before, so I'm very picky about my tattoo artists. Michael Connolly was my artist, and I was very hesitant to get a tattoo from an artist who's work I had never seen. As soon as he showed me the drawing he had come up with, my tattoo trust issues disappeared, lol. I pretty much gave him his artistic freedom to add and do whatever he thought looked best, and my tattoo for my fiancé turned out absolutely beautiful. I couldn't be happier with my tattoo and his work. Out of the many tattoos that I have, the one he did is my absolute favorite, and I will definitely be returning as a permanent client. This was my first visit to State of the Art Tattooing (but my third tattoo) and all I can say is THANK YOU!!!! Tony did an amazing job with my tattoo and with listening to what I wanted gave his suggestions and drew it up for me! Small hometown parlor. Very clean and tidy! Having visited parlors from California to east coast, State of the Art is worth the visit. I have returned 2 additional times to  Jordan for work. After researching the work of different artists in town I found Jordan Joyes and loved her designs. The shop itself was small, clean, and welcoming. The staff was very professional and helpful. I found everyone there to be very friendly and talkative with me. I was very comfortable there. This was my first tattoo and Jordan worked with me in helping me come to decisions about the various details I was looking for. My husband got both of his tattoos here and they did an amazing job on both! I have a few friends who also got very detailed work done and their tattoos turned out amazing as well. The artists were very patient and accommodating as one visit we actually had our infant with us. It didn't seem to bother them at all. I had two different tattoos done at this shop by two different artists, and they were both badly done and had to be redone at other shops. (Yeah, Yeah, I know. But I figured the first was a fluke - any shop can have one mediocre artist). The artists here seem mostly bored and uninspired, not very responsive to input from the person being tattooed and and they could use some lessons in customer relations. The first artist I talked to (and who ended up doing my first work here) acted like I was some kind of imposition, interrupting his day. The whole time he was tattooing me he kept interrupting his work to log onto ebay to check on the progress of some auction. The second artist was a really nice guy but complained the whole time that he was tired of tattooing for a living and wanted to quit and go into some other line of work. When I expressed some concerns about the 'finished' work - which in my opinion wasn't even close to being finished - he gave all sorts of excuses and reasons for not continuing - he thought it looked great, it wasn't big enough for the detail I wanted, this or that couldn't be changed. Funny, because I subsequently went to another shop and the artist there had not trouble repairing and refining the tattoo and making it look like it should have to begin with. The shop just isn't very good. If you've got some real simple off the wall piece of flash you want done, these are probably your guys. If you want more complex or custom work, I would advise you to look elsewhere. Read Less
