The best shop in Hampton Roads, without question. All of the artists are very personable, as well as all employees that work there, and the shop is incredibly clean and well designed to keep it open but still personable. I have been in there when it’s busy and when it’s not and get the same service regardless of how many customers they have. Their prices are great, and are even better when you consider the quality of work that all the artists do. I could have sworn this place used to have a different name several years ago, but according to the address, this is the place. Don't come here. The people sit around and smoke pot in the back and then come out to tattoo you thinking that's ok? Sorry, but I wouldn't want someone whose high and incompetent tattooing my body permanently. The artist was rude as well. I kept telling him to do a small design, but he brought out something very large sized for something that was just going on the hip. Ridiculously overpriced. First time customer: They are friendly, professional ( well if you don't mind the F bomb being dropped every other word) and confident without being cocky. Ruby greeted my sister and I. When we told her what we wanted she immediately starting asking questions and giving advice which I loved because I had to no clue what to do. Jude was sooo funny but when it came down to business he talked me through the entire process. He really made me feel at ease. I'm super happy with my tattoo and the experience. Thank you!! I have gotten all of my previous tattoos here. I have liked the quality of work and the cleanliness of the shop. I got a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth the last time I got my tattoo because the artist was making fun of it the entire time. I'm a tough girl though and I get that everything is not everyone's cup of tea. Deciding to come back for the most meaningful tattoo I've gotten so far, I was excited to get the process started. I wanted to talk to an artist and set up an appointment to come back and get the work done (it was a pretty elaborate piece, I knew the work wouldn't be done that day). I was extremely disappointed when I walked up to the front door with my toddler in his stroller only to find a big sign on the door that said no children allowed at any time. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails. I felt like an idiot. I know the people inside could see me getting him out of the car and putting him in his stroller only to be turned away before I even got inside. :/ No worries. I took my business to Ocean Mystique around the corner on Virginia Beach blvd and couldn't have been more satisfied. They will be getting my business from now on. Read Less

She then showed us a price guide which showed high prices based on certain sizes and ***upcharges on different parts of your body. 25% upcharge on the ribs.*** We ended up leaving after some of the worst service Ive ever seen from the many tattoo shops Ive been too in my time. So I give this place 3 stars because I have gotten all my tattoos here and loved the quality of work. Alex was my artist that did two of my tats and I can't remember the bigger guy's name that did the other. But let me say that twice now (almost 2 years apart), I have went into their shop for a walk-in or to see if I could set an apt and the girl at the front desk was so unwelcoming that I was tempted to turn around and walk out mid-convo. There's nothing more upsetting than getting to the shop, excited for your tattoo and be met with a sour attitude and be judged for my tattoo choice (I'm not an insecure person and the judgement was so strong it was oozing from her pores) Lighten up sister! I get it, you work in a tattoo shop and you see all sorts of tattoos, from basic to incredible art, but its not cool to make weird faces when I show you what I want. Wait until I leave the shop to judge me. Also, since when am I supposed to have exactly what I want drawn out and ready to go? Isn't it part of your duty as an artist to look at the multiple examples I have provided and help me draw something up? My husband wanted to place a deposit so I could get work done, the front desk refused him admittance as our children were present. She would not let him past the open door (seriously just wanted to drop off cash and lock an appointment time, no one would have gone farther than the lobby) the front desk lady said she wasn't even going to speak to him and he was not to pass the front door. OK, so I never post these stupid reviews but I had such a terrible experience I want to save you the time DO NOT COME here, Period. The lady at the front desk was not helpful at all and was being a jerk the entire time. I've been shopping different tattoo shops as I am new to VB and wanted somewhere go get my chest tattoo done. I'm greeted by a miserable woman who shrugs me off and tells me to go look at portfolios. I figure she's in a bad mood whatever everyone has bad days. I find an artist that I liked and went back over and schedule a consultation to show him what I like (Chris) and first he tells me he hates my design and wants to change the whole thing and I break down why I want the certain parts they all mean something to me and he just tells me I'm wasting his time and he doesn't even want to tattoo me and to find someone else unless I'm willing to let him do what he wants. What the heck?! Isn't this my body? I get wanting to do your interpretation as an artist which I would've thought was awesome but to just tell me that you don't want my business and to go somewhere else? Went in for the consultation on Tuesday and set the appointment for today (Friday) for my daughter's first tattoo. The young lady (who's name I've unfortunately forgotten) was extremely nice and knowledgeable; answered all of our questions with a smile and made sure to explain EVERYTHING to us. I was reading some of the other reviews about unprofessional ladies at the first desk, I for one have spoken to a couple different ladies in person or over the phone and they have both been nothing but nice and friendly. Took my daughter to get her first tattoo and was very impressed with the facilities and the atmosphere. The crew was knowledgeable, friendly and cared about our input. The tattoo itself is amazing! I found Steve Bradley thru my Mom who has been getting tattooed by him for 20 years. Once we found he was at Ghost Ship we went into see him. He has been working on my Wonderland Sleeve and has touched one my tattoos done by another artist and made it look brand new. He is also honest with me on would look best when it comes to color choices and they have all come out gorgeous. Ruby is always so kind and sweet when we come in, even when I call the shop she always the nicest person to talk to. She is full of knowledge when I call and ask question and never hesitates with an answer and gets the artist if she needs to. I will be back for another tattoo soon!! Read Less

Ok. So I came here with my daughter about 1 month ago to put a deposit down on a tattoo she was to get on her 18th birthday (today). We specified we wanted Chris to do it but he told us he was off that day. He then decided to come in anyway for us since it was for her birthday. We were very happy about this, but he was a little rude in telling us she "better not cry". Fast forward to today: We couldn't be more satisfied and happy with the whole experience. Chris was 100% professional, very pleasant and happy, & even allowed for both her father and I in the room. Even though it was a small name and little star tattoo, it came out perfect. I stopped in a few weeks ago to speak to someone about an idea I had and spoke with a really great gentleman who was happy to answer my questions. I was impressed with the portfolios on display. When I was ready to get work done, I knew they took walk-ins, and was prepared for a wait. I called first, asking if there was a wait for walk-in and approximately how long, as I am right down the street. A very unfriendly woman barked "First come, first serve!" into the phone. I understand that, I was just asking if there were 20 people waiting in front of me, I would just make an appointment. But she hung up. So...thinking maybe it was just hectic, I'll go down and see about the wait, because like I said, I'm just a couple miles down the road. If the wait is too long, I'll just make an appointment. I walk in and am, at first, ignored while aforementioned unfriendly woman surfs on the net, despite the doorbell announcing that I came in. If she would have bothered to even turn around and look at me with a smile and say "Just one moment..." or something to that extent, I would have been cool with it. But...nope. So I stood there being ignored for a bit. Then, she turned around, no smile or greeting, just something to the effect of "What can I do for you?". I asked about the wait for a walk-in. She said there were a few people ahead of me. Ok, that's cool, I asked if she could give me a ballpark. An hour? 3 hours? Her response was "Oh, I don't know." I said again "Just a ballpark estimate?" to which she replied that she would have no way of knowing. I just stared at her for a minute. I would have been totally satisfied if she even acted like she cared. Had she said "I'm not sure, but let me just see what we hve going and I'll get back to you." or something to that effect. Not just essentially a verbal shrug and back to surfing the net. I can't say I've ever had this kind of answer before at ANY shop I've ever been to in 5 different states. I get it that she can't pin down exactly but there is a huge difference if I am waiting for 4 people to get their boyfriend's initals or if I'm waiting for 4 people to get sleeves. So, needless to say, I left. I would have given this one star but the first guy I talked to was really nice and really answered any questions I had about the artists and their styles. Read Less

From the time I called in to the time I left I didn't feel welcomed. The lady at the counter seemed to think every idea I had for my tattoo wouldn't work even though it was simple text. Not to mention the prices, they wanted to change me by the piece because it would have taken between 30-60 minutes for one of them. Instead they wanted to charge me $300+. I went to trilogy tattoo after walking out and I am now back St trilogy for my 3rd and 4th tattoo. Trilogy is 1.1 miles away and I rate them 100/100. Read Less
