I love this place! Other tattoo places I have been to are super dim with headache-inducing music and this place is bright, super clean, and I don't walk out deaf. I have gotten 6 tattoos here, most of them big and detailed so I've been in the shop for several hours each time, and I loved my experience each time. I have also brought 3 different friends in for work ranging from first-time tiny tattoos to cover-up work to full back tattoos and everyone loves the place.My niece and nephew are tattoo enthusiasts and love it too!There is a huge counter extending the length of the shop your friends can sit at and watch so you can actually converse with them while getting inked. I am a teacher and friends and I go for brunch and tattoos and it's great to be able to bring your buddy with you to rave about how awesome your new tattoo looks.The staff is super talented and SUPER nice. Tim Mitchell has done all my work and I am so happy with him I carry around his business cards and pass them out to people who say they are considering getting work done. He has taken several disjointed ideas of mine and put them together into overall designs I love. He has been so patient and cool to everyone I bring in. He always goes out of his way to communicate with me before my appointment to make sure he has all of the ideas for my artwork and he is the fastest, most skilled artist I have met and his estimates for tattoos are spot-on. I was a costumer and got tattoos done there before.I got a tattoo done on my finger and foot and the artist told the that is normal for it to fade and I have 90 days for a free touch up.I went back about 1 month later spoke with a different artist and he told me I just could get it fixed for free with the artist that have done it, if he fix for he would have to charge. That is ok.I went back today and Spoke with the artist who did my tattoo and she said that she never told me that, who ever I spoke before was crazy to tell me that she would touch up for free and there is no such thing as 90 days. So after reading the reviews, I was a little hesitant to visit their shop. But I thought to myself, I've been on YELP long enough to know you can't always judge a place based on the reviews and decided to give it a try.  I went in to add another piercing in my cartilage.  I was immediately greeted by friendly, smiling faces as soon as I walked in. Although they were busy with tattoos, they took the time to ask if I needed help and guided me to the back of the shop to see Jesse.  The moment I met him, he was friendly and had a great sense of humor.  He did an amazing job with the placement and piercing itself. He was extremely professional and took the time to go over the aftercare step by step.  We were greeted on our way out of the shop by each employee with a "thank you". I decided to get my first tattoo here after browsing through the Instagram photos of their artists. Tim Mitchell's tattoos drew me in. He is very talented artist. I'm so in love with my tattoo. I borrowed inspiration from internet but Tim made changes to make it unique. He made me feel very comfortable and it was surprisingly pain free. Not sure if it's the location of where I got it, inner forearm, or if it has to do with the artist but I felt zero discomfort the entire time. Stopped by Sugarland shopping Cwnter after finding the place I will be interviewing for tomorrow.  Looking around I found parking spot quickly. One of the first places I see is The Body Gallery.   Normally I see tattoo places in bad or hard to get to areas. I was greeted by a turquoise haired girl  (Who's name I now know as Brook)  gave off good vibrations about the place.  She answered my questions and was very helpful. I looked through the drawings of several tattoo artists but found nothing appealing.  I saw pictures of getting your tattoo removed and what some of the pictures looked like to get rid of the ink.  In short, I think I will keep my tattoo.  I did see one tattoo by a lady named Erika. I liked the picture of the fox, but I did come up with ideas to improve the picture for me.I will follow up with her and see what her price is. I might end up getting my fifth and final tattoo. Got a few things pierced by Michael! Amazing, very professional, knowledgeable and kind. He answered every question with ease and confidence. This place is clean, smells nice, and with folding doors set up you get privacy from others. I would recommend this place without hesitation. I've gone to both locations before, leesburg and Sterling. Love both places and management knows what the customer wants and needs. Tim is amazing! For my first tattoo I knew exactly what I wanted, Tim ask me if I wanted to add color which I had never thought about. He made sure I was comfortable and gave very helpful tips to take care of my tattoo. My second tattoo was a little more painful then the first one but Tim always made sure to check up on me to make sure I was doing ok. You can tell that he loves what he does and he wants to make sure you love what is going on your body. Such an awesome shop. I've been there multiple times now and every time a great experience. I've been tattoed by Tim twice now and will be going back for more, I've also had multiple friends get work done by him! We come to this place a lot and put up with a lot of "laid back" work ethic but we are done now.  We called at 7:05 for a piercing.  They said the guy would be there until 7:30 though they actually close at 8:00. So we arrive at 7:24 and he has packed up and we get some lame excuse "I can't control what he does". I remind her we just spoke and he is now leaving earlier than we were told. Just not cool.  I would not have come and this is rude. Why is it this group of people feel they can be rude and not held to any sort of work ethic? I'm sure there are some out there who have a great work ethic but we have not found them.  Any suggestions for a good piercer preferably closer to Leesburg :) We won't be coming back here again. I emailed last week to inquire about scheduling an appointment for a nose piercing. I received an email reply back stating that The Body Gallery did not schedule appointments for nose piercings, but they offered walk ins on Fridays from 4:30-8. That's all it said. When I arrived last Friday around 5, I was informed that he had the day off (so why wasn't that mentioned in the email reply I received earlier in the week?). I was told then that he actually also works other days, and that I could always call before coming in to make sure he was there. So today I called at 4:09 pm to make sure he was in, and I was told he was. I arrived at 4:45 and was told he was out on break and wouldn't be back until around 5. Maybe I should take this as a sign not to re-fit my piercing, or maybe I should be annoyed with the poor customer service and communication offered by The Body Gallery. I'm going to choose the latter. I'll be taking my business somewhere more reliable. Read Less

Piercer was rushed, not clearly explaining things and not taking the time to walk me through the process. When I said they were uneven, basically blew it off and stated that it was both my choice and the swelling. Despite multiple other individuals stating that it looks crooked. Including my co workers. However, if you are looking for a piercer? Look somewhere else or come when there isn't a rush. I would recommend another piercer though. Although it is worth mentioning that their other staff was lively, friendly and very helpful--and their tattoowork is exquisite! I went to Jesse to get my second piercing done because of a recommendation from my friend. She had gotten a bunch of piercings from him before, and there were never any problems. I got my first piercings done at Claire's. Not good. I really needed a reputable place because there were a lot of problems with my first piercings. I didn't need an appointment, and there was no wait when I went. The forms and paperwork didn't take long. Jesse showed me where he thought the piercings would look best, I approved, and he pierced my ears. Then, he told me about the aftercare and gave me his card in case I had any questions. I was probably in there for a max of 15 minutes. The amazing part is, my two lobe piercings only cost $50 for both the piercing and jewelry. Compared to other shops, where the jewelry alone costs like $50 a piece, this was a deal. You don't get to choose your jewelry, so it's just a pair of silver barbell ball-back earrings. You don't have to keep them in for long though, so I was fine with it. I used the H2Ocean Piercing Spray a couple times a day to make sure my piercings were clean.Just a weird thing I thought I'd mention--my ears bruised like crazy a couple days after I got the piercings. They looked like they could be infected, but I quickly realized they were bruises. I bruise super easily, so it wasn't a big concern and went away after a couple days. I just thought I'd mention it so anyone who also experiences it doesn't freak out.Overall, I'd totally recommend Jesse! Read Less

Jesse is so fricken awesome.So I actually hadn't been back to the Body Gallery in a long while (mostly because I left the area). I came here when I had just gotten out of high school to get a cartilage piercing from Jesse and hadn't been back since, though my friends in the area all go here for piercings.Anyways, fast forward several years. I got a new cartilage piercing done in DC and it was completely butchered. The bar that the piercer put into my ear was wayyyy too short for healing. When I asked about that concern, she told me it'd be fine. It has been a year and it hasn't healed correctly, which I just kind of dealt with thinking it'd eventually go away. I was wrong. It didn't go away and recently the backing of the piercing basically sunk into my skin. I had to spend thirty minutes pushing the hell out of my piercing hoping that the hole hadn't closed or something. It didn't, and I did eventually get the back of the piercing pushed back out. But, that was when I realized I needed to go see Jesse.I stopped by today for a new piercing and he replaced the piercing with a longer bar and explained to me the trauma my ear had gone through and how I should expect this to heal in a few weeks after proper care. He also said if it didn't heal in a few weeks to come back in and they'll take a second look at it.I'm so thankful for Jesse. He didn't even butcher this piercing and was so kind and attentive in terms of making sure it healed correctly this time around and educating me on the topic. He also replaced the backing of one of my other piercings when I asked (I lost the backing to it) without any questions. Read Less

I had a wonderful experience of getting my first 2 tattoos at The Body Gallery in Sterling. I walked into a clean and friendly staffed shop, 2 weeks ago, to schedule my appointment and spoke to my artist Billy Bubbles. Billy was very friendly and helpful with my designs. Yesterday, was my schedule ink day and the staff were all very friendly and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. They also have a great playlist which adds to the wonderful experience. So many people say that going to a tattoo/piercing parlor is much safer for ear piercing than a mall kiosk such as piercing pagoda or Claire's. The body gallery did a great job a few years ago re-piercing my daughter's ear which had scarred over from a previous piercing done at the mall. Today, they did a great job for a second piercing on each ear.Jessie is the main person who does piercings, and he's definitely very experienced!While I whole heartedly give this shop five stars, I have two words of advice:- A government ID is required even for a child, and a parent's ID is required as well- this is a hard-core tattoo place with very talented artists...... Which means that there is a lot of profanity used verbally and some minor profanity printed on displays. This did not bother me or my daughter at all, but more conservative parents would hopefully appreciate this heads up! Great experience! I had my design picked out. Jay helped me understand about tattoo stencils and showed me his work with fine lines. When it was time, he didn't "hold my hand" but he answered my questions. This was my first, so I can't critique the process, but it looked like he was careful with keeping everything sanitary. I got a piercing from here. The skin area was​ prepped/cleaned properly, but I didn't get a step-by-step process as to what was going to happen nor did I get to see the tools beforehand. At the end, when he was going over all of the aftercare rules, he ran through it quickly as he's was in a rush. Furthermore, there was conflicting information about the aftercare. When questioned about cleaning, the piercer said not to touch the piercing, but the after-care sheet says to clean the piercing (without removing) 3-4 times a day. Read Less

My boyfriend and I have both had work done here. Now, my tattoo was fine. I like it; it's simple script and could just about be done at any shop with an artist who has a steady handy. Our tats had been done a few months ago, and since then we always say "yeah, we're never going there again."It's the customer service that sucks. Their desk guy just straight up doesn't want anything to do with you when you walk in. The two of us came in together, and I had to be fairly assertive before he acknowledged me, then my boyfriend had to straight up ask if they had any artists who wanted work since the shop wasn't busy. He and I waited for quite some time, which isn't an issue. In that waiting time, so many people and came and left because the guy was so uninterested. Finally we got to see the artist; she did mine then my boyfriend's back to back. He made an appointment to have another concept of his worked on since she did both our pieces well enough. I have no idea why now that I look back at it.He wanted a sports team logo done, which really truly isn't complicated at ALL. And, after she rudely asked both of us if we "had ever been tattooed before" and we both pulled out our detailed and large pieces, she shrugged it off.The two of us both go to Cirque Du Rouge which is THE BEST and the absolute most talented group of artists you are going to come across in the DMV. Seriously; just go there. It's on H Street in DC and it's 210% worth the drive. Don't bother walking into the Body Gallery UNLESS it's a simple piece. If you don't want to go to D.C., Patriots Tattoo is in Fairfax and they're a hidden gem as well; much cleaner and night & day difference in professionalism. There isn't a single artist in that shop I wouldn't trust.Now, my boyfriend came in for his second piece. The lettering is shaky (on both pieces) and the logo he has is barely filled in. He really wanted this piece; now he rarely shows it or mentions it's existence. He's asked other artists what can be done to fix it, but the way this artist had done the lines, it'll be hard to improve. The shading isn't filled in; it's patchy. The Roman numeral on his arm has varying thickness and is shaky. All in all, NOT what you want in an artist.Again, when he was getting his tat, this artist asked if he had ever been tattooed before. His answer; yes, by YOU. Less than a month ago. Plus the pretty wicked detailed piece on his shoulder. Again, she shrugged it off.I'm not putting the name of the artist because the whole shop had that attitude. Just don't go. Invest in your ink people. The Body Gallery does not care about your tattoo; just profit. Do yourself a favor and hear my warning; don't let them go near ya with a needle. Spent some time with Billy Bubbles -- who is not just a creative artist and master with color, but is also a warm and amazing human. He listens, will work with you, and isn't shy about giving input when asked for his experience-based knowledge. I love the tattoo and will be back for another. Be warned; do not schedule a future appointment with a guest artist and pay a deposit. This is because Body Gallery does not take responsibility for a guest tattoo artist's mishaps. This rating is solely based off of my experience. I came in to talk about some art and spoke with an individual who we decided to schedule a future appointment. Scheduling another appointment was an ordeal in its own since the guy lives in another region of the country. On the morning of the appointment I received a message saying that he would not make it. We rescheduled. On the day of the rescheduled appointment he, again, had to cancel because he couldn't make it. I have told the artist that with a family and all, scheduling is sort of a big deal so I would have to put this whole thing to the side (actually arranging with another location). The artist agreed and indicated that he would arrange with Body Gallery the refund of my deposit. I went to Body Gallery to collect my refund but no one there knew of the situation and they could not get in touch with said artist. They did get in touch with the owner and the owner stated that they could not provide my refund in his absence and I will have to arrange it between him and myself. My main issue here is that, if I were to get an outstanding tattoo from this guest artist, I would credit Body Gallery and THEN the artist. Body Gallery would love that publicity. But they did not want to take responsibility for the lower level of customer service provided by a guest artist. I did not want to rate all the way to a 1 star because I have personally seen the product by this facility and it is more than adequate. I wanted to honor my Lynx, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge back in February and had decided to get a single paw print. In researching it, I came across PainlessJ's 4 paw prints and thought it was a great idea. I could honor my 3 dogs who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and my current dog. I met with Jason and was so impressed that he remembered the 4 paw prints and told me they were exact replicas of the client's dog. I was surprised I had to wait a month for my tattoo but I didn't know that was the norm. I was very nervous, being a newbie, but Jason and the other artists put me at ease. I love my tattoo! When I wanted to get my first tattoo, I wanted to pick the right place. After I spend a few hours online, I decided on The Body Gallery in Leesburg: they didn't have a single bad review. And here's yet another good one. 1) They take walk-ins; I went in with my brother-in-law for my second tattoo, and Phil spent his entire work day on him. The two of them were chatting the entire time. I got mine from Liz, who also did my first tattoo. Neither of us had appointments, and we were there for 5-6 hours. 2) Their prices are more than reasonable. (There is a 60$ minimum for tattoos). 3) They are so friendly. Honestly. If there was any place I'd want to spend my day with any people, it would be these guys.4) The place is really clean. You smell the cleanness walking through the door. 5) The artists there are outright astounding. My brother is in the middle of a biceps-length roaring lion, and my brother in law just got a realistic red rose.
