I have been to Recon several times, and each time I go it is a great experience. The people there are very nice and just make you feel comfortable, unlike some other tattoo places I have been. The place is very clean and professional. I have my nose pierced and a lot of piercings in my ears. I would not go anywhere else to get anything done. I have went other places before Recon was around and my piercings got infected. I have never had any problems out of the ones I have now and they healed very quickly, which is unusual for me. I have gotten two tattoos from there and they look great and I am very pleased with the experience. The tattoo artist made me feel comfortable and it was an overall great experience. My tattoos healed very well and didn't take a very long time. And from what I have heard from people who got tattoos elsewhere was that their tattoos hurt for awhile after and the healing process was messy. So I would definitely recommend Recon to anyone who wants a piercing or tattoo. It is the best place to get anything done. So if you want to get your moneys worth go to Recon, you will get that and so much more! Read Less

I will never let another tattoo artist or piercer in Roanoke/Salem do any of the work I want, and always suggest to friends this is the place to go.
For a tattoo this is the best place for one of a kind, original work. The artists draw the majority of the designs/pieces and work on your budget. There is no flash to be found.
The piercer is skilled in so many different things other than piercings that he is a true professional and not someone sticking needles and shoving jewelry in. Always uses top quality jewelry.
Check your local health department for violations, make sure the establishment (and staff) is licensed, and insured, and always remember that you get what you pay for.Read Less

My wife wanted a simple word done. After typing it up on their computer and printing out the stencil, placing the stencil on my wife and getting ready to put needle to skin my wife caught that it was spelled wrong. The artist apologized and went to fix it. No problems right? Well, after getting the correct spelling and finishing the tattoo we went home and were glad to have it done. Later we noticed one of the letters started to fade and was a different color than the rest of the letters (the same purple used in the stencil) and sure enough the guy did not ink the one letter. Maybe we caught a bad break and this stuff does not usually happen but when you put something on your body for life it better be right the first time! I told them about my idea for a tattoo and they kind of chuckled at it. I decided right then that they would not do it. I ended up going to BLUE LOTUS TATTOO 628 S. Colorado St. Salem VA and had my work done by Christinia Davie and was quite satisfied. You can read my review there. Comparatively I would say Recon Tattoo/ (Ronnie I think his name was) could take some lessons from Blue Lotus. Be careful going here. The rest of my wife's tattoo looked fine but it should have all looked fine and been spelled right the first time. Read Less
