All of the people (tattoo artists, piercers, etc) are nice, friendly, and clean. They are willing to sit down and discuss whatever you are getting done, and are more than willing to walk you through what they are doing. The shop is clean, the prices are reasonable, and honestly everybody who works there is pleasant and nice to have a conversation with. Daniel is one of the best in the valley. He might charge more than some but his work is impeccable and is still considerably cheaper than other areas. You're getting a piece of art literally embedded into your skin. If you want 'Dogs playing poker' go elsewhere. Don't cheap out. Save up or don't get one. i went to asylum to get a small tattoo on the inside of my wrist and my nose pierced within 4 days my tattoo became extremely infected there was stuff oozing out of my tattoo and it was very red. when i went back to the shop to ask them to look at it i drove 30 minutes just for them to look at it for 5 seconds and tell me "it's still pretty fresh just keep cleaning it and if it gets more red go to the doctor and get an antibiotic" need i remind you there is stuff oozing out of my tattoo that i paid $50 for and it only took 10 minutes to start and finish my tattoo. absolutely ridiculous i have 1 other tattoo that wasn't even done somewhere else and it looks 10x better will not be returning for anything!!!! We walked in on Tuesday wanting to get two tattoos. The shop is decorated seriously awesome. And they got us both in and completed very quickly! The piercer who was there (didn't catch a name as we sort of bombarded him) was awesome in helping me out with my cartilage piercing and Dan did an amazing job on both tattoos! Went back today to get my piercing, was immediately greeted into a very clean facility. Within minutes I was back getting my piercing done by Shane, he was very nice and answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. First time getting something done there out of my 3 current piercings and 7 tattoos.. and I can say I won't let anybody else pierce me but him, best experience I've had when it comes to piercings. I have gotten 17 of my 19 tattoos here( between artists Winslow and Brittany) and I have NEVER been disappointed. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful, the artist and piercers have always made me feel welcomed and very comfortable. The establishment itself is very clean and pretty relaxing. They're the best that Roanoke has to offer! I have recommended them to everyone who asks about my tattoo work and will continue to until the day I die. I went into this so called business to get my ears gauged and had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours while the employees played around with each other and smoked in the parking lot. I left and met the real mentality of these people. After placing a bad review on their FB page, I then received death threats from a few crony friends of theirs. DON'T GO HERE! This establishment is terrible. First no one is really certified as they advertise. I asked to see their certifications and they do not have them anymore. The place is not as clean as they claim either. Have talked and seen two pieces of ink done there that were terrible in quality and one was so infected. The guy, I think owner, is a complete weirdo that tried to have his way with my sister while she was there getting work. There are plenty of other shops in the area. Their studio is very upscale and clean. I have had 3 piercings there and was very pleased, but I got a tattoo and was pleased at first. However, it hasn't been six months since I've had it done and now it is faded and smudged. I have other tattoos done by another studio and they look much better the the one from Asylum. The outline is not clean and the ink is blotchy. I would recommend them for piercings but NEVER for tattoos. Read Less

Went in several months back to set up a consultation for a new tattoo. The man at the front desk was nice enough, asked us if we needed any help, if we had a particular artist in mind and to take our time while I looked through each of the portfolios for the artists working there. When I had finally chosen the artist whom I thought did exceptional work, he informed me that it was their day off but I could set an appointment to come in for my consultation. Not 2 minutes passed and the artist I picked showed up. The man at the front desk told me to hold on, they wanted to go grab them so that I could meet the artist I picked, said they probably wouldn't mind. He went outside and mentioned it to him/her and I could tell by their hand gestures and tone of their muffled voice that it wasn't an option. They could have taken just 2 minutes to come meet a potential client that was planning on spending a great deal of money there. Instead, they opted to stand less then 10 feet from me, smoke a cigarette and throw a fit. I thought it was very rude and extremely unprofessional. Oh, and it took almost 2 weeks for a call back for the appointment for my consultation. Considering the first impression I had received from him/her, I don't think I will be recommending them to anyone. The environment seemed pretty laid back, clean and it was nicely decorated in the studio but even the nicest surroundings can't make up for an artist with a bad attitude. Read Less
