I came from another tattoo shop in the town since they were unable to take me on this particular night. Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by a very nice gentleman which made me feel warm about the place. I got my tattoo done by Ray whom was very fast, professional, knowledgeable, and appreciative of my generosity. He had plans that night but was able to do both my tattoo and a friends as well. Saw Greg yesterday for a tattoo and he rocked it! He was great to work with too. I gave him an image from a book but gave him creative freedom to put a spin to it. I was amazed by the result. DO NOT GET A TATTOO FROM CHRIS. That man isn't qualified to tattoo a SSN on a dog let alone tattoo something VERY MEANINGFUL on a person. It took me 50 years to FINALLY decide on a design that I wanted PERMANENTLY placed on my body. Very simple design of three linked infinities with two small hearts and my daughters name on my wrist. I went with 3 other ladies and I was the second one to hand over my design and paperwork. You would think I would have been second to be taken back? WRONG, all three of the other ladies were taken back, had their tattoos done and returned up front. Still no one came to me, then I believe Jerry realized I had not been taken care of and gave my paperwork to Chris who was just sitting and playing on his phone. He said, "Oh, I thought we had gotten everyone." SO, evidently I was FORGOTTEN. As for my tattoo, one heart you can't even tell it is a heart, VERY HEAVY HANDED, 3/4 of the tattoo looks like it is EXTREMELY faded because he went too deep. One of the infinities doesn't even connect with the right line, and speaking of lines, what a joke, they are BLOWN all over the place, crooked, fat, skinny. The whole tattoo is actually crooked. One side of the infinities is wider than the other side. My whole wrist was extremely swollen for two days. I am told that George is really good & they said he would fix it for me, but after my experience there, I think I will go to someone with an EXCELLENT reputation in Powhatan at Journey's End (Mike Ivey). UNFORTUNATELY, a friend of mine had gotten a BAD tattoo from Chris before but she failed to REMEMBER until AFTER he had ruined my tattoo. One of the other ladies that went with me got a four leaf clover by Chris on her foot. It has crooked lines, a jacked up stem & blank spaces where he failed to fill in all the color. Her foot was so swollen, red & hot for days that she was unable to wear a shoe. If your tattoos mean anything to you, go somewhere else or make an appointment with George. Read Less

I normally drive to Richmond, to a noisy, popular shop that my husband and I are both pretty loyal to. Lately, the artist there was ducking my calls/texts and I figured if you can't answer a simple question, why should you have my business? I went into Tantrum on Thursday and spoke with Chris about some mermaid scales I wanted on my thigh. He was honest with me, and told me exactly what he thought. I had brought in (of course) a picture I found online that he said was probably someone who got airbrushed at the beach- the colors were just way off. He worked with me, drew up some PERFECT scales, and ended up getting them last night. The place is clean, secluded, and quiet. Chris's lines are flawless, and the colors we decided on couldn't have came out better! He made me so comfortable with his honesty, and was patient with me. Like he said, most artists don't have the privilege of being honest with you or saying no. Thankfully, he does. About 2 years ago i got a very simple wrist tattoo from Emmy and the line work was atrocious. I had written this place off as bunch of scratchers but decided to try a different artist, as i had heard innumerable good things about him. George Archer was my artist and I am very pleased with my overall experience at Tantrum. Everyone I interacted with was either more than happy to assist me or was just really fuckin chill. George gave me a beautiful tattoo and was very amicable during the process. He knows how to carry a nice a conversation without talking TOO much. He was pretty heavy handed and I was worried about scarring to be honest, but it healed marvelously and I'm going back for touch ups very soon. Have brought my daughter here for her first tattoo and a nose piercing. Emmy did the tattoo, which was my daughter's name on her chest. It was okay, the lines could have been a little cleaner. We went back for her nose piercing which went okay and while we were there, another customer got her car broken into (it was parked behind Tantrums in the small parking lot and it was dark.)
