I saw this place while I was driving down Hull St. a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, the sign out front only says "TATTOO" so I wasn't sure where to look. (Thank you, Yelp!) Anyway, I did a little research, Facebook stalked them for a couple days and noticed some things. First -- this place has changed hands a couple times. Okay, makes sense. So, my friend and I go in yesterday. I'm looking to get 3 piercings done and she's *thinking* about getting a tattoo. So, here's my review:PROS:*Friendly, professional staff. No one was cussing or yelling or jumping around (I feel the need to state this because I have 9 tattoos and 17 - well 20 now - piercings and I have seen some things)*No one was rude, but it was a Wednesday night so things were really chill. *Jake did my piercings. He was educational about the types of jewelry -- made sure I didn't have a history of allergies to specific jewelry and talked to me about what I wanted* During the actual piercing process, Jake was professional and kind and we chatted about this and that. I was relieved that he was totally cool with my friend coming back in the room with me -- he was gentle and quick and thorough (thanks, man!)* The lady at the front desk smiled politely and I watched her interact with a couple other customers. Quiet, but friendly and informative* The piercing room was clean and well kept. I watched him take the needles and jewelry from sealed packages, wash his hands and put on clean gloves. * He went on 3 -- this is a big deal. I had a piercer in the past who told me "we'll go on three" and then went on 2. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it made me mad then. Knowing that I could trust Jake made all the difference in my entire experience.* Pricing -- I paid what I thought to be a fair price. I got both of my Traguses (tragi?) pierced and my inner conch on my left ear. I paid $45 per piercing, as I used the jewelry that had a rhinestone in it (because, pretty). On the low end of what I expected to pay, but I felt comfortable with that. * Open line of communication: Jake gave me his card with his schedule and the date I needed to come back for a change out. Just helpful to know that he's confident enough to stand by his work in the event anything happens with my piercings. CONS:* They were painting. To be fair, I noted earlier that this shop has changed hands a couple times or more over the last few years. For my friend, it was a deal breaker. She didn't feel comfortable getting a tattoo in a place that was kind of in the process of being put together. * No after care instructions -- for me, not a huge deal. As stated before, I have plenty of piercings (AND to be fair, Jake asked me if I felt comfortable taking care of it myself, which I did) but I didn't notice any written instructions. This could be a problem later on both for the shop (in terms of liability) and the piercee (in terms of infection and proper care)* I feel the need to state it again -- this shop has changed hands. This can be a problem for people who like to be loyal to a particular artist or shop and (if you're like me) you have to wonder what is WRONG that is causing this to keep opening in different names. Is the area bad? The market bad? Or the shop itself bad? If this place can stay stable for a couple years, I'll update to five stars. TO CONCLUDE:I would go back -- IF -- Jake is there, the shop doesn't change hands again and I can see it once it's done being renovated. So far, my piercings are fine. My conch is a little sore (typical) but both of my other piercings are barely noticeable. Please guys, let me give you 5 stars!!! Read Less
