Upon walking I was greeted nearly right away by a smiling face, that person happened to be the exactly who I was there to see: The very charming Mr.Justin Merritt I was referred to him by multiple people around town and I was not in the slightest bit disappointed. His knowledge of the product he sells is impeccable, his bedside manner is very relaxing and his pinpoint accuracy is a force to reckoned with. My piercing was next to painless and his use of sterile technique was beyond exceptional(I am a nurse practitioner and look for these things). Took our 10 year old daughter to get her ears pierced and it was a perfect experience. She was nervous but Justin, the owner, was so calming and explained everything to her. He took his time, like we were the only thing he had to do all day, and did a perfect job. She hardly felt a thing and was so excited as we left. Would not suggest this place to anyone.  My husband and I both walked in to get tattoos, took several minutes  before we were even greeted.  There were two employees at the front desk,  one with a customer and one doing nothing. Finally, one suggested we look through the portfolios and find something we liked. That was the only exchange we had with either. After 45 mins of being totally ignored  ( both walked by several times, one consistently on his phone ) we walked out. I came here with my best friend a few months ago. We heard really good stories about this place and decided this is where we wanted to get another tattoo together. Walking in the guy in the front was really nice and very polite! My friend and I showed him what kind of tattoo we each desired. They had a problem with the Palm tree that she wanted. She wanted a detailed palm tree and she was told they couldn't do that. Because it would fuzz out? My other friend got the same tattoo at Tucan and it was really detailed and really pretty. And not a solid plain chunk of color. Nobody free handed anything witch I thought was a little odd but nothing to big to worry about. I wish I had met the artist artist before I paid. I don't know if he was in a bad mood or had a rough day but he was not in the mood to do tattoos that night. He was very snappy and rude. I should have walked out and have not worried about not receiving a refund. During the tattoo session he made me feel uncomfortable and stressed out. Maybe since my tattoo was small and plain he didn't want to do it and it made him angry? His attitude was horrible. If he really did not want to do my tattoo I would of appreciate if he had told me that. And now when ever my friend and I look at our tattoos we're reminded of the bad energy this man had. Getting a tattoo is something important and significant. It's a piece of art that's going to be on the body for the rest of your life. I have never had such a bad experience like this while getting a tattoo. I don't regret the tattoo I got but when ever I look at it I think of the bad energy this man had. I've gotten two of my piercings and two of my tattoos from here and it's pretty dope. The staff is friendly and the work is amazing. My piercings were done by Biscuit and he made them quick and easy, also a very nice and funny guy. You can't beat the $15 Piercings. I got two different tattoos here, obviously two different times, and I had different artists. I can't really remember the names but one is a bit older, has short hair, and wears glasses - super, super nice and did a great job. The other artist, has actually tattooed Lil Wayne (something to definitely remember). The shop is clean, has nice decor, and they play music but also have different tvs on throughout the shop and magazines for readers. When it comes to prices of tattoos, it really all depends on the size, placement, and what you're getting but I do know the shop minimum is $50. Whether you're getting some ink, a new piercing, or need new jewelry or touch up, they will help you out. I absolutely love this place! I originally went to VB Ink to get a piercing, and the lazy fuck piercer wouldn't pierce me because my "tongue was too short" but I came here and I'm so glad I did because the piercing lady here did it no problem. And it was only $15 plus tax! Not bad at all. This place is so laid back, down-to-earth, and I love their prices so much. My best friend was pricing her two-inch tattoo and everywhere else said over $200 but they did it here for $130. I love this place so much and it'll definitely be my go-to place from now on! Okay. I'm giving two stars because I've had a tattoo done here and it is still amazing (I think his name was Brandon, idk it was a few years ago) But I'm reviewing the piercing I just got a week ago. I've gotten two out of three tattoo's here and they are absolutely amazing. Honestly. They work with you on the pricing. And they sure know how to treat their customers. The artists are detail oriented, very careful and clean.  And their piercing jobs are dirt cheap. In a good way of course. This business is cash only but there is an ATM available at the store. And if a wait is required, then there is a Starbucks right across the street. They have a couple of televisions, a couple of couches, and a pool table. All work spaces were clean. Awesome place and the tattoo artist are absolutely wonderful!!  I've had different artist throughout my visits, but Lillian is awesome and so down to earth. She told me straight up about my tat and how big I should make the letters. That and she is a big Batman fan like me. We have tried going to other places but their attitudes were not up to par with me. Blue Horseshoe is a great professional tattoo parlor with real friendly people. I came here for some cartilage piercings and ended up getting an awesome tattoo by Lillian (Honey Badger). I have a bunch of watercolor work already, and wanted the boxing gloves from the movie Rocky done but with an artistic flair. Lillian exceeded my expectations, which are extremely high. I went to ask a question 10 minutes before closing and the guy was very rude to me. He kept insisting it was closed and to come tomorrow morning if I wanted to see their art book. I knew they were closing soon but figured I had 10 minutes just to look... I would never go here or recommend them to anyone .. Had to take them to court to win a judgement against them.   Paid a $1200.00 deposit on a half sleeve and Chris Bowman rescheduled on me so many times .. Over 15 I lost count ...  Their customer service is terrible and pretty much non existent.  I have had a judgement for almost 3 years collecting interest . I am going to have to use other means to get my money back since they will not pay it back ... I'm going to have a sheriff come by and seize property . I believe that's my next step .... I've never after many piercings experienced the worst quality of a piercer that I did today.  Maybe I should feel lucky that I have never have had to deal with the poor quality I dealt with today. I was a little skeptical of this place, but my sister and I wanted to get tattoos done and were in a bit of a time crunch. It was just a basic text tattoo, so we weren't super picky. The location is easy to find and there was a good number of parking spaces open on the side of the building. Walking in, we were quickly greeted by an artist, which was nice. They had a couple of couches and a big tv playing a kids movie. There were two gals working the front counter that were super kind. The piercing guy was a bit rude and short with one of the girls, which I found pretty unprofessional.There was a larger black guy that had headphones on while tattooing and was a bit rude to us while we were waiting on the couches. Although it was 10:30am on a Saturday, so maybe he hadn't had his coffee yet.Our artist was really nice, super friendly, and after checking out his instagram, he has some great work in his portfolio. He's very good at informing you of everything before he does it and gives you very detailed instructions on how to properly take care of it. I stopped by the shop on a whim because I've been wanting to get an industrial for years. All of the piercing shops in Baltimore are like $60-80 for it and I just wasn't having it. I decided to call and see how much it would set me back and when they said $40 I had to tell my grandma I'd be right back! lol. I'll edit this to add the piercer's name, but she was awesome and quick! when I walked in there were 3 people in front of me and she rolled them out within 20 minutes. Next time I'm in Hampton, I'm definitely stopping by for another piercing. :)FYI, they're cash only, so I'd suggest stopping at a bank instead of using the ATM inside because it has a $3 fee. My husband and I went here on our way to his AIT (army training). We just walked in, we didn't look them up so we didn't know what we were expecting. The man that did our tattoos was great! It was my second tattoo on my ribs & I was still kind of freaked out and then I got light headed. He was very patient with me. It was my husband's first tattoo and he did good. But now, it's 4 months later and BOTH of our tattoos are faded. My tattoo I got in florida, over a year ago, is still DARK DARK & looks brand new. But this one I got in November looks old & has many faded spots. My husband and I did everything we were suppose to with the after care so I don't understand why they're like this. I was told, maybe, the tattoo artist didn't push hard enough. I still love my tattoo, but this makes me upset because now we have to pay to get them redone somewhere else. Read Less

When I think of BHS, there's a lot of things that come to mind. The shop itself, is a wonderful example of what a tattoo and piercing shop should look like. Custom artwork on the walls, beautiful entry way, open layout so you can look at portfolios and talk to the artists. It has an overall warm and welcoming atmosphere. Next thing is the artists themselves. They are friendly and welcoming to new clients and take the time to talk to customers and really get in their heads to figure out what exactly they want so that they end up with a piece or piercing they love. Blue horseshoe is the exact opposite of every other tattoo shop I've been in. They don't make you feel like you're a huge inconvenience when you walk in the door. There is always room for walk ins and if you come in wanting a tattoo or piercing, you won't be scared out the door. I think what drew me to this place, was that I always heard good things about it. Since I was 18, I've come to BHS as my first choice to get tattooed as well as pierced. So it's a name that has meant something to me for a long time. What makes me want to be here is the environment, It's positive, clean, and very light. Not just the shop, but the artists as well. There's so much talent packed into one shop, it's amazing to see how different all of the artists are, working together towards the same goal; putting really awesome modifications on people that they will have and love for years to come. A well done, meaningful tattoo or piercing can change someone's life, the way they feel about themselves, and all of the artists here have been able to convey that onto customers time and time again. If you're going for a tattoo, sweet. I've been here with a friend getting a tattoo done and it was great.Piercings, however, do not get your piercings done here. I got my back dermals down here and I question the experience of the piercer. It took three attempts for the right dermal to snap in place. That should not have happened and I was just waiting to have problems with it down the road. And viola, I'm getting them out in the next couple days because the right dermal has been fighting rejection, and it hurts. The left one is okay but never lost the red ring around it. Also I found out the quality of the jewelry they used was crap. I paid a high quality price for nickel dermals. What the heck Blue Horseshoe, step up your game to the level you sell yourselves at and use real, proper jewelry on your customers. I'm pissed. I paid more money on nickel dermals than I'm going to for titanium ones. I feel scammed and I'm pissed. Read Less

The owner Mike Wexler is a complete a-hole. Made an apt. for an add on to my pre-existing piece, and he took 30 min just to freehand onto it. When he was finished, I did not like his design. He grew very irritated with me, and tried again. I didn't care for the second either. He made it clear he was irritated, which is completely unprofessional in my opinion (especially being the owner). Eventually we had to re-schedule because of his irritation. Had to wait a month to get in next, and showed up 15 min late because I was stuck in traffic. He rolled his eyes as i walked in and told me gave the apt to someone else. I understand giving the apt away since I was late and should have called, but he was a complete jerk about it! The tattooist Joe Hitt and Gentleman Jim provided horrible service while I visited. both complained the whole time, jim smelled like pot, neither washed before tattooin me and my sister. l later visited the state website looking for their permits to tattoo and could not find any information. They even touched their ink bottles their bloody gloves!!!! EWWWWW. I surprisingly got an infection and had to have antibiotics and steroids to fight this blood poisoning. My sister got off easy. just lines are real deep and blurry. I WILL NEVER, REPEAT NEVER, give my money to be put at risk like that again. Very disappointed and disgusted. Chuck Chapman did an awesome back piece for me in July 2008. He was professional, friendly, and an extremely talented artist. I came in with a design and some words (to be tattooed), and he created a beautiful piece of art for me. Also, I had driven down from DC specifically to get the tattoo done (I had made an appointment a few weeks earlier), and Chuck worked on it until it was finished, knowing that I was going back to DC the same day. The tattoo took about 5 hours, total. If you live in/around Virginia Beach, I highly recommend Chuck and the Blue Horseshoe. It is a clean and professional establishment and worth the money. As I always say about tattoos ... you get what you pay for. If you want quality you have to be willing to pay a little bit more. So, while my tattoo wasn't cheap, the quality is excellent. Mike did a back piece for me, and a half sleeve for my man- and he was amazing! Mine was a bit more simple, but he was still able to put a creative edge to it. With my guy's- he brought in a ton of pictures and Mike did some of his own research- and put together an amazing piece for his arm. He gets stopped all the time- everywhere we go, people want to know where he got it done. Last time I walked around with a shirt that shows my back, I had someone ask if they could take a picture of my tattoo. Had a terrible experience there. Several staff members completely rude. Got run-around from "Dr. Tony", General Manager. Artist was not overly friendly. Did not get to approve my tat, was covered up and promptly sent on my way. Am not happy with tat, several elementary mistakes!! I will NEVER give them my business at any location and I am telling everyone that I can tell about my profoundly negative experience there. Artist does not equel Rude. I am not offended by cursing, but every other word I heard was F@#$. Very unprofessional. I've never seen so many "God Complexes" since the last time I was at the doctors/hospital. well it was time fo rmy birthday finnaly i was of age to get my own piercing. Something to make me,just me. At first i was going to get a tounge piercing but after 3 years of braces i dident think so. In th end i decided that my nose was the way to go. as ecstadic as i was, i was mainly afraid of the needle. If there is anything to make my cringe it's a big needle going threw my flesh and bones. But it was worth it to get something that i realy wanted. So an hour later there i am in Blue Horse Shoe Tattoo. Quivering and scared but oh well. the piercer clamed me down and told me it wasent going to hurt (typical i know) but then he said ""it will hurt but not as much as you think it would be, the intense is worse"" of corse i had no other choice but to believe him. So i got it done and whal-la fineto it is done and over with. I recomend blue horse shoe because the people are nice and they are really clean. after my horrific shock of terror was over iIwent back a second time to get my tummy pierced, and yet again i will go back there to get my eyebrow. I sencerly recomend justin. I dont trust anyone else to get the job done faster. Read Less
