I was a walk-in: it was my first tattoo and I wanted it on my ribcage. It was easy and efficient: not a lot of consultation really needed; I literally showed him a picture of something I liked on my phone, he drew it up and went to work making it a one day process. My artist was Jim Cattano and he did an extremely good job, whenever I show people I always get compliments on his work (lily floral design about four inches across and four inches down give or take some). I LOVE THIS PLACE! I never walk out disappointed with ANY OF MY TATTOOS HERE! My artist is always Greg. You can show this man a couple images to play with and his creativity is magic! He's super nice and will work around your schedule! He keeps you updated and the prices are ALWAYS FAIR! I don't mind paying money for great art, but I always get a good price. Greg is never heavy handed, so my tattoos always come out smooth. I'm a little bit of a wiggler, and he's still able to work with me. *SUPER PLUS*$20 tattoos every Friday the 13th, but it's always a long wait, well worth it though! *note- they are cash only, but there's an ATM at the shop. They were awesome. Very great atmosphere and clean environment. Went in with wanting a script on my arm with a font I already picked before going in, Matt offered to show me his style of writing and his work alone had me changing my font to his. I got my second tattoo done at ancient art yesterday. Greg did it and did an AMAZING job- solid lines and great customer service. I know I particularly was a difficult customer because I had gotten my first tattoo at Blue Horseshoe and they ruined it so I was very nervous. But Greg and the other artist all made me feel welcomed and shared their knowledge with me in a way that made me feel comfortable enough to trust the person doing my tattoo. Read Less

Started getting cover up at a shop in "Virginia beach"  i made multiple appointments and the artist was late the first scheduled appointment. Then cancelled the next appointment. And of course they canceled the one after that. So I called Mike at ancient arts store in Hampton and hour later after going over what I wanted for my cover up and the rest of my arm I'm getting a whole sleeve done he was very fast and did awesome work. Im very pleased with Mike's artistical talents, work ethics and very positive attitude he will be the only person I ever let touch my body again to do tattoos on. Went in for a cover-up of something I've hated for 15 years, something I've been told to get lasered or told would be hard to cover.  I now have something beautiful that I love and my hubby could barely see the old tat even when he searched, without searching my old tat is invisible :). I just got my first tattoo done here while on vacation. I researched many of the tattoo shops on Mercury & Ancient Art seemed to have the best reputation and highest satisfaction rates. I can say without hesitation that I made the right choice. My tattoo is awesome! Matt, the artist was really nice when I first walked in & continued to make me feel comfortable throughout the entire time I was there. I honestly couldn't be happier.
