I gave this place a one star because the only thing good about it is that my sister and I didn't get infections.  The lining on our tattoos is horrible. It is very inconsistent, having both thick and thin lines, and the lines didn't meet at end points, they either went past or left a gap. Also the color on mine didn't stay and the color on my sister's is screwed up. You can see were he went outside the area with a purple line so there is one random purple line. I honestly don't know how it got so screwed up because it was a very simple peanut butter and jelly toast with a glass of milk. I thought when they were finished oh they will get better as they heal but it only got worse. My sister is going to get hers redone by someone else cause it looks so bad. It's a shame because it was supposed to be a meaningful tattoo and it's my sister's second one so she proably will never go to get another one again. Read Less

From the moment we walked in till the moment we left this tattoo shop was an amazing experience. For me as a first timer I felt really good vibes from the people who work there. My boyfriend and I went in to get matching tattoos and our artist (Ike) did an outstanding job. I'm in love with the work he did. We brought my friend here for her first tattoo, a semicolon. The people were friendly and the place was nice. The artist who would be doing her tattoo refused to use white ink (what she asked for) and then he tattooed the symbol on her backwards. When we came back a couple hours later (in the excitement none of us caught it, and didn't realize until she took the wrappings off) the same artist was rude about it. I showed him the one I have, to show that hers was indeed backwards, and he grabbed my wrist really tight while he looked at it.He redid her tattoo for free, but it's still uneven and the dot isn't really circular.None of us will be returning here. I had gotten 2 pieces done here last night, 1 was a horrible cover up, but they guy that owns the place did amazing work! & the 2nd Julian did a knockout job on my ladies left upper shoulder.. Both has a lot of color & a lot of shading & fading. I can't tell you how happy we are that we found these guys... Wow!  The artist took what I wanted, and literally made it better than I could imagine.The shop prides itself on giving a custom, personalized tattoo that is as clean and professional as it gets.  They have a great relaxed atmosphere highlighting the history of tattooing and American Traditional tattoos (they can tattoo any style you want).  The artists are personable and do a great job understanding what you're looking for with your tattoo.  They appreciate the history behind their craft, and they are very, very good at what they do.The quality of work and atmosphere at the Bowery is so much better than the place where I got my other tattoo (I'll probably see if one of the artists at the Bowery will cover up my other tattoo)!Bottom line: I got a tattoo that far exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely go back.
