I love this place! I got my 1st tattoos a few weeks ago and Chris was awesome! I was expecting it to hurt, but aside from mildly uncomfortable, it was fine- No lie, I almost fell asleep on the table while he worked. Mine are solid red, so it was hard to tell, but the red didn’t go quite deep enough, looks like a temp tattoo peeling off, so I called. They are more than happy to retouch/do the areas! Got my first tattoo done by Nate yesterday. From the phone call to book my appointment and to the very end, great service. Everyone was so nice no matter how busy the store got. Nate was very patient with me and knew exactly what I wanted. The placement took a couple tries but Nate was all smiles through all of it and asked another artist for his opinion. He was friendly, making jokes, making sure I was comfortable and getting to know us. The price was pricer than I thought it would be but was worth it for my first tattoo experience and the amazing results. I will be back for more!I was also pierced by Rachel in the past. I went to Patriots to get my first tattoo. I saw this place had a lot of good ratings so I decided to give it a shot. When you get inside there are a lot of designs to browse through in case you need ideas. I went with a medium sized tattoo on my chest (as seen in the picture) for $135. Tyler was the one who did my tattoo and he was a friendly guy who provided good customer service. The tattoo was slightly painful but after 30 minutes it was completed. I was given instructions on how to take care of it and Tyler gave me his contact info in case I had anymore questions. On the way out I realized that I had not gotten the opportunity to give him his tip so I ran back inside to do so lol.Fast forward to several weeks later and the tattoo looks good and I'm happy with it. The healing process was only slightly uncomfortable with some itching and peeling. Overall the place seemed friendly and hygienic and the people there are these alternative/ hipster artists lol. After reading the yelp reviews I decided I'd go here for my forward helix piercing. The owner, Laura, greeted me immediately and although there was a wait it was not long. I was informed that for $45 I could get the piercing and a regular bar, but I opted for paying $80 for a stud with a small gemstone. The process was simple and I was informed of what was being done every step of the way! It hurt, yes, but that's to be expected and I was prepared. if i could give this place zero stars i would!! DO NOT trust the pierces here! i got my navel pierced here and the piercer marked the area in a way that seemed perfectly good but then pierced it so that the entire piercing was above my navel. the bottom ball wasn't even inside my belly button. it was a surface piercing and done incorrectly as well. She went through too much skin and the balls at the end of the jewelry were being pulled into the piercing. I called back and she gave me a strange story about how the piercing would fall down into my belly button in 2 months due to gravity and the weight of the jewelry. she did not remove the jewelry and repierce nor did she give me a refund. needless to say i had the jewelry removed by another piercer who explained that her story about gravity was to cover up the fact that she botched my piercing and didn't want to fix it/refund my money. if you are looking for inexperienced/dishonest piercers who have no problem making up stories to cover their botched work, look no more! Patriots has done all my piercings. This time I went in for my triple helix piercings.  Lora was my piercer and she was very thorough with regard to what I already had done; because piercings are unique from person to person. The location for the triple helix was a little further up on the ear than my picture had because the daith was in very close quarters with where the new piercings would go...she had a great solution and I got my piercings where I wanted.Patriots did all of my cartilage piercings, including the daith. I have got 7 of my 14 tattoos done here. I've been to Cat twice and one day she wasn't available so Nathan did some work for me. I will never go to anyone else!! He does amazing work and is a fun person to be around. One of my tattoos (skulls) was even one of his original designs!! He is open to anything and is almost as excited as I am whenever I decide to add something to my arm. He holds good conversation which helps to distract from the stinging you feel during a tattoo. The shop is clean and everyone that works there is very friendly. Patriots is always really good about pricing. I have never really felt I was being over or undercharged for anything. You really do get what you pay for! I've been to the other 2 shops in the area and they are unbelievably overpriced. Patriots is a happy medium!I've also been pierced by Rachel and she's very friendly and did a great job. I came here to get my nose pierced a while back and forgot to review. The experience was great then and I always had them in the back of my mind. When my sister in law decided she wanted double lobes and a flat in in her ears, I remembered my experience here. We came in and the process for her was quick and easy. The piercer (I think her name is Rachel?) really knows her shit and she's so nice and puts you at ease immediately. I came back to get my lobes pierced and let me tell you, I have lived most of my life thinking they could never be pierced because I had gotten them done three times as a kid/teen (didn't know what I was doing then). They had scar tissue and every time despite cleaning with that god awful alcohol solution, they were infected. Knowing what I know now about piercings, I decided after taking my sister in law on Saturday that I'd go on Sunday to try my lobes again. Same piercer and she was excellent! She got them done quickly relatively painlessly, and she even taught me a few things about being a piercer while I was there. The really amazing part was that when I got home, I had little to no soreness or pain and even only a few days later, my ears are doing excellent. I have no experience with this place for tattooing, but I would recommend it to anyone for piercings 1000%! Read Less

I had been trying to get this tattoo done (a simple pineapple) at another parlor in the area but the artist never called me back despite me calling multiple times and leaving my number with the receptionist. I decided to go to Patriots since I have gotten my piercings done here for years and was familiar with their work and artists. I am so glad I got it done here! Making an appointment was quick and easy. Pricing was also fair in my opinion. Nate did my tattoo and made me feel comfortable since it was my first. He also wanted to make sure the placement was perfect and got Cat (another artist) to check for him. I am very impressed with how it turned out and his lines are super clean. Nate did my tattoo, he's great!! Actually he's done two for me.He's a lot of fun, totally personable and kept me laughing through my tattoo on my foot. Which, if you've ever had ink there, it's definitely not the most painless spot! Great, reasonable prices. Everyone is friendly and everything you do there is discussed upfront. They warned me that tattoos on the hands and feet will fade faster than others which I knew going into, but they still explained in detail how that happens. Totally a professional environment. Instead of shrugging me off and saying no way we won't do it, they let me decide. Nate is hilarious, honestly, if you're nervous about your tattoos; he's the guy. If there was such thing as a "feather light touch" with a tattoo needle, he'd take home the gold. My experience here was amazing! From the beginning the artists were very friendly and welcoming to my friend and I. The establishment also looked well kept on the inside- a good sign at a tattoo shop! I got small numbers on my inner ankle done by Cat and the experience of the tattooing was fun and not too painful. Rachel is AMAZING. I was really nervous going in and she was a complete professional.  She was knowledgeable, patient, and quick. I came in wanting a triple forward helix. She suggested that I got a double instead because of spacing.  Technically she under sold me.  The whole time she chatted with me to keep me calm and relaxed. Review on their Piercing work.When my sister came visit me from Texas, she told me that while here in VA she wanted to get her nose pierced. We discussed at breakfast and I found Patriots Tattoo on Yelp. We decided, based on reviews, to give it a try. It was really convenient considering that for piercing work there's no appointment necessary. All piercings are done on a walk-in basis. Based on all of that, we were there less than five minutes after breakfast. The staff discussed options with my sister as far as jewelry, size, placement, etc. After deciding on everything, the piercing was quick, painless -- according to my sister -- and they also answered any and all questions relating to post work care/cleaning. Never judge a book by its cover! This place is next to a Papa John's in the most random small strip mall and the interior did not bowl me over BUT their precision, customer service, artistry, cleanliness, not to mention the overall experience, was absolutely spectacular and 100% professional! To that point, I absolutely LOVE Patriots. I somewhat hastily decided to get tat #2 after some pretty hefty mental health issues this summer, as a reminder to always breathe deeply, in a nutshell, and they were able to squeeze me in as a walk-in. I spoke to Kurt when I called to check their availability, and he was polite and patient. The tat was cheaper than I expected ($75 for lettering) and Chris did an amazing job. He is quite the conversationalist and very worldly! He was super gentle and thorough; his work space is fastidious. I'm afraid I will probably be returning here soon, much to the chagrin of my wallet, my skin, and my mother. Highly recommend! Read Less

My wife and I both got our very first tattoos from Ty this past weekend and must say, we were both incredibly impressed. The shop was very welcoming, not intimidating (unlike other shops we checked out prior), and courteous. We saw other customers who had gotten tattoos there 11 years earlier, still coming back to them, which is always a good sign. Ty is incredibly talented and worked with me to fine tune my design and even gave my wife a custom handwriting piece. I received my second tattoo here, and I couldn't be more thrilled with my experience! I got a custom Felix Felicis potion tattoo (it's a Harry Potter thing, heh) from Ty, and I love it! It's an awesome design of a potion bottle with gold liquid inside, some cool red and orange magic clouds surrounding it, and a banner overtop with the name of the potion. It's so rad.In total, I visited the shop three times: first for a consultation and to show Ty want I wanted. He had me email Curt, the owner, some examples of what I was looking for. About a week later, I went back to see what Ty had drawn up, approve it, got a pricing estimate, and set my actual tattoo appointment. Finally, I headed back 2 days later to get inked!The whole tattoo experience from start to finish was really excellent. All of the folks who work in the shop are super friendly and not intimidating AT ALL (which is something I did experience as a tattoo neophite when I got my last one), and Ty does great work. I actually found him on Instagram first, so I already knew that I liked his style and he did great color work. He did up a custom design based on some examples I sent him, and I love it!The experience of getting tattooed was more painful this time than with my first, for obvious reasons (this tattoo is much bigger, and is a full color piece, whereas my first was just a little word on my wrist.) The pricing at Patriots is also AMAZING. I paid $250 (not including tip) for my new piece, which felt like a total bargain, especially compared how much I paid for the aforementioned tiny word tattoo at Jinxproof in Georgetown. My tattoo is healing up very nicely and looks great. Ty also offered to do any touchups I might want after it's healed for free, which was super nice. I definitely recommend making an appointment for your tattoo versus trying to do a walk-in, since they seem pretty popular. I had one tattoo done here and it's the last one I'll ever get done here. The people are incredibly nice - I really like the "artist" who did my work, but he botched what should have been a fantastic tattoo. Partly it was because he apparently doesn't believe in color mixing and his stash of ink was limited to 6 or 7 colors, so that's what he used. The result was a portrait that came out looking like a cartoon. The prices are really high too, higher than most of the other shops in the area and way to high for the quality of the work they do. Their work is, at it's best, just average. At worst, it's just bad. I had to have the tattoo I got done here redone at another shop. Plus, the place looks dark and dirty - I had some real concerns about the sterility of the place. There are a lot of much better shops within easy driving distance - Exposed Temptations in Manassas or Ricks in Arlington both do better work for less money. Read Less
