Ignore the "terrible customer service" reviews. Artists aren't psychic and if you don't know what you want, they can't choose for you so if you're unprepared it's gonna be a little irritating to try to get out what you want and draw the stensils 3 different times (like what I did... Sorry) The artist was very helpful and gave me great instructions on how to treat my new tattoo. It was my first time, and I plan to see them again for my second. Read Less

I went here to get a nose piercing and the lady that did it was very rude and accused my friend of recording when she didn’t. Then the piercing came out because the lady pierced my nose all the way to the side and it looked very unflattering. I went back the next day to get it re done and the lady had a nasty atttidude basically blaming it all on me and re did the piercing for free which was nice. But she re-pierced it very rough to the point my nose was dripping blood. Then as she walked towards the other people working there, they made smart comments to eachother about them re-piercing my nose because i was dissatisfied. They are lucky that i did not stoop down to their level, and that i didn’t get very disrespectful because i kept it very professional. Been here several times. got a helix (cartilage), nostril piercing, and naval piercing. All three done by Lynn. She's experienced and gets straight to the point which is great. But the male cashier (I remember him to have a beard) lacked customer service skills every time I was there to buy jewelry or get a piercing. But the first time I bought jewelry there, I bought an L-shaped nose ring. Each stainless steel nose ring is $15 a piece. I was extremely shocked it was that high of a price.. But if you buy 2 pieces, you get 1 free. So it would technically be $10 a piece. And most people who come to be piercing don't know their gauge size for the specific piercing. The business gives a pamphlet that has the after care info, piercer/ tattoo artist name, and gauge size. But I suggest telling the customer what gauge needle the piercer is using so the customer can buy the proper sized jewelry. Read Less

Rude as hell. Fat dude at the front has a attitude problem and don't know how to talk to customers. And the lady who did my piercing was a sweetheart until she got paid. I called this morning because my ball fell out of my piercing and she was very nonchalant about the situation. F this place. I won't return there are plenty of other people friendly tattoos and piercing shops around. Very disappointed with the post customer service. My sister and I both got nose piercings from this place. Less than twenty-four hours later our nose rings were out. Upon calling back to the store and speaking to the person that did the piercings she let it be known that she would not re-do the piercings unless paying $20(ea) more on top of the initially paid $30(ea). Ok, so I am 100% satisfied with the outcome of my tattoo! Dave was my artist and he has 27 years of tattooing experience in which his work shows! I came into the parlor a couple days prior to set the appointment and brought a couple examples of what I wanted. He then came up with something the day of tattooing that was similar to both designs combined as one. His professional advise and exceptional art work are above and beyond. Thanks Dave! First and foremost, let me preface this review by saying that I have never been more appalled in my life. I visited River City Tattoo on Sunday, March 15th, and walked away two hours later with nothing to show for it aside from what can best be described as a horrible taste in my mouth concerning an establishment that is far from professional and, judging from my experience, completely apathetic from the standpoint of customer service.Upon walking into the establishment alongside my teenage daughter who was working within a specified price range, my primary concern was to obtain a quote, subsequently enlightening me as to whether or not what she was interested in would ultimately be affordable. While you would expect such an inquiry to be a simple one requiring no more than a couple of minutes, I was advised that I would have to wait for the next available tattoo artist. Had I known what that would entail, I would have turned around and walked back out of the door. Fifteen minutes elapsed. Fifteen minutes turned into thirty minutes. Thirty minutes turned into an hour. An hour turned into an hour and a half until, finally, TWO HOURS later, a tattoo artist became available who could accommodate my daughter's thirty second request. To say that he was rude and unwelcoming would be an understatement. His tone was sharp, his body language was disengaging, and his overall presentation was lackadaisical, so much so that I began to question to myself as to whether or not he was even interested in my business. My initial presumption would prove itself to be true when, after finally obtaining a quote and finalizing our requests, my daughter and I were asked to furnish valid identification. No problem, since we both came prepared with our Driver's Licenses.....or, so we thought. We were then denied service because I am remarried, and our last names didn't match, despite the fact that, per their own admission, my daughter and I are all but identical - huh?! Surely, we aren't the only mother and daughter to frequent this establishment with different last names. The tattoo artist proceeded to inform me that if I could furnish a document reflecting that my name at some point matched my daughter's, he would be happy to service us. I rummaged around in my purse, frustrated, until miraculously I stumbled upon just that. Excited, I presented it at the counter, and, at that point, we were denied service because it wasn't a birth certificate. WHAT?! How many of us ride around with our children's birth certificates on-hand, let alone in our homes as opposed to in a safe deposit box to ensure their utmost security?! Might I add that there is NO MENTION of such policy on their website, whatsoever, nor were my daughter and I informed of this upon entry into their establishment prior to waiting TWO HOURS not to be serviced, but to obtain a QUOTE! When I inquired with the receptionist (who was no more professional than her coworker, if he can be referred to as such) as to why she hadn't informed us of said "policy", she replied distastefully, "How was I supposed to have known she was a minor.....?!" A simple apology would have sufficed, and would certainly have been much more professional.If you're looking for a reputable tattoo parlor, visit Loose Screw Tattoo, Heroes & Ghosts, Journey's End Tattoo, Enigma, or True Tattoo - your money will be much better spent supporting REAL artwork amongst artists who actually take customer service into account as opposed to tossing it, and their clientele, by the wayside, literally! We visited River City for a nose piercing for my daughter.  She saw Lynn.  Lynn was great with her.  She was calming and quick.  She gave my daughter detailed instructions on what to use while it was healing and how to tale care of it.  My daughter explained she would have to take it out for sports.  Lynn showed her how to put the retainer in and how to clean the jewelry.  I was very happy with our experience and would totally recommend it. I went into river city tattoo on the boulevard to get a vch piercing. I was introduced to Luna who would be my piercer. She was super friendly and answered any questions I had. She also made me feel very comfortable and put me at ease. She did an awesome job and it was over in an instant. I would recommend Luna for any of your piercing needs. Read Less

PLEASE DO NOT go to the River City Tattoo located down off the Boulevard in Richmond. They are very deceptive with their hourly rate. They quote $120 an hour. They finished up with my work in 30 minutes but charged me the full hourly rate. The tattoo was simple, merely 6 words at a size 18 font. They said they would not budge on the price. If you do go to have work done there, be sure to negotiate down your price as much as you can up front and time the artist from the beginning to end as they complete your tattoo. They have signs all over the parlor that encourages tipping. Be sure to write "tip included in price" when you sign your receipt because they drastically overcharge. There are so many other tattoo shops that do great work and have reasonable rates. Please please please shop around before you decide on going to RIVER CITY TATTOO OFF BOULEVARD Read Less
