These guys are the best in this area from what I can see hands down. Alex covered up an black tat on my brother's arm and made it look as if it were never there. Neil reworked a tat I got at another shop that I wasn't satisfied with, added to it and it look awesome. I refuse to go anywhere else. Anybody asks me, Body Art Tattoo is the place to go. Period. Alex Bircea of Body Art Tattoo Studio did an excellent job on a cover up I severely needed done. Man I had the worst tattoo in the history of worse tattoos and Alex transformed it into something totally Awesome! The man knows his craft. If you have a tat that you need to get rid of that's where you want to go. It takes a true artist to do what he did. I got my first tattoo ever on Feb 14th from Alex. Alex was super easy-going and made me feel comfortable, explaining the process and care. I went in May of 2015 and got matching mother daughter tattoos done by Neil and it was amazing. I went back on my birthday and got a piece done for my grandfather done by Shawn, and I love both of my tattoos very much. I could never go to any other tattoo shop! Read Less

I got my first tattoo done here today and it went really well! My friend and I did a lot of research and ended up choosing this place because of a friends recommendation and the cost: $50 minimum. A lot of places in northern Virginia wanted $150 which we knew was too high. I got line work of a paper crane on my forearm and my friend got the Harry Potter book page stars on her wrist. We got them done together with Shawn and he was so kind and helpful. We went on Saturday which is when they do by first come first serve only. We weren't the first ones there but since our tattoos were small they were very good at getting us in and out but still making sure the tattoos were done with care. The shop itself is really small and a little cramped - we couldn't sit down until someone went back for their session- and we had a little bit of a tough time finding it but once we got in they were really nice. My daughters and I just had matching tattoos done by Neil. This was my first one and I was very nervous. I had checked out a few other places but was really impressed with my first experience here. Sharon answered all my questions ( and I had lots!) and was extremely helpful getting us an appointment while trying to coordinate our schedules.Neil was just fantastic! Fantastic experience! A few friends scheduled our tattoos on the same day. Jason did mine and it is perfect... he is a true artist. I felt very informed during the whole process and he was great about checking that I was hanging in there. On the positive, the work is great. Really, that is the most important thing hence the ratingSpoke to both Evan and Neil (sp?) over the phone and they are very nice.  Evan called multiple times to ensure the design I submitted (a half sleeve) was being redrawn to my liking. They called at 3:00 pm the day before my appt which was a bit inconvenient but I appreciate the attention. The artist, Jason, was phenomenal. Normally, when you get an appointment with such a talented artist, they are jerks. Not the case with Jason - really nice, very attentive, and skilled. He stayed 3 (THREE!!!!) hours past closing to finish my tattoo. When he was done, I could not believe how low the price he quoted me was and he said it was due to him coming in "late" that morning. How do you not tip at least 25% on that?!Highly recommend. Read Less

Had my tatttoo done a few days ago by Neil. Absolutely loved it! The shop was very clean and had awards from conventions displayed everywhere (so they obviously know what they're doing). I felt very at ease with Neil and he took the time to custimize the lettering for my tattoo and was determined to make sure I loved the piece. Price was very reasonable compared to other shops. Me and my fiance both got our tattoos done at body art tattoos and had no problem setting up a time to come in and tell them what we wanted. It took them a while to draw up a custom, very detailed phoenix (understandable) but lettering was able to be done on a walk-in basis. This shop is definatly first come-first serve, so get there early (10am or earlier). They're very nice and take alot out of their time to make sure you have what you want.
