A hidden diamond in the stodgier part of old town that is part tattoo studio and part avant garde art studio. The staff are friendly and warm, quite approachable to ask about your first tattoo or your 21st. They are all extremely talented, enthusiastic and laid back. While cool, they are not too cool to talk with, no matter if you're there to get some new ink or pick up something unique for your home. Among the originals there are a few select items from the Archie McPhee catalogue, which sets a backdrop for a gift for that person who might not have everything.  Mind you, artists are in HIGH demand and appointments are necessary for arts dermis but they do have drop by spots from time to time. The shops are clean and professionally run. From consultation to, setting up the appointments, to the after care. Danny Zelsman did amazing work for me. I came in with an idea for a tribute to my father and he made it completely come to life. Price quoted was exactly as I expected, and the final price ended up being $50 less. The shop is incredibly clean, all of Marlowe's artists are top shelf, and unlike other local studios the business is run completely professionally. Get a consult first! I went in for a touch up on a simple tatoo that is exactly the size of a quarter.  They quoted me $120.  Highway robbery.  The tattoo initially cost me $35.  The touch up I got next was $25.  The new tattoo I recently obtained is 3 times as large, with multiple colors, and much more detail, and IT cost me $85.  I would advise you to get a second opinion.  They may have quality artists, but that shouldn't entitled them to rip you off.
