Christina did a marvelous job on my doves. I get complemented on how elegant they look and how wonderfully placed they are quite often. I could not be happier. She’s so easy to talk to and makes the entire experience calm and fun. She’s light handed and the healing time was substantially less than I’ve previously experienced from other tattoos I’ve had done. I had a wonderful experience with this studio and Haylo. There were a few "bumps" but they were addressed and taken care of promptly. I am an artist myself and Haylo was the first tattoo artist that was confident enough in her own abilities to replicate my art. I had consultations with other shops and artists and all they wanted to do was make changes, which told me that they either weren't confident enough or able to replicate my style. I am also a super picky person, espec...ially when it involved something permanent on my body. I was impressed that each artist had thier own sterilized room to work in and I was put at ease that Haylo was on the ball with sanitation procedures. I also have an auto immune disorder that impeads my ability handle stress, heal quickly and properly, she made sure that I had the green light "go" from my doctor that I was alright to get the piece done and I made sure to follow ALL her directions for aftercare and experienced NO issues and the piece healed perfectly. Haylo was always considerate with how comfortable I was and treated me almost like a princess during my sessions and made sure that I was happy. The piece has a lot of meaning behind it and she did it justice, when she finished it today I was almost ready to tear up. I am deffinately referring her to others and she is well WORTH the asking price for her time. I had a wonderful interaction with the owner of this shop. Over a year ago an artist that I scheduled my tattoo with walked out on the shop, the artist was amazing enough to take the price of this deposit off of the tattoo at his new shop. After about a year of no artists that I felt I wanted a tattoo from Lucky Bamboo I reached out to see the possibility of receiving this refund back. The first time I called I was informed I would need to speak with Jared, now after countless weeks I finally received a response from him after posting a review for his business. This issue could have been resolved the first week I contacted the shop with Jared telling me I could not get my deposit back, and explaining to me why. Instead, it turned into a multi week ordeal, I never heard "you wont get your deposit" until about week 5, at which point I just wanted to speak with Jared regardless as I was told I wold be able to. So instead of every returning my phone call, he send me the email attached to this review. Please be warned as the language is anything but pleasant. ****I cant respond to his message so I will update here**** While this issue began with my security deposit, Jared has cussed me out, degraded me and still has not called me. He states "You were told many times with your harassing calls" as I have said multiple times, I admit I lost my temper with his employees, after countless weeks of not hearing from him and no explanation given to me, I asked to speak with Jared every phone call, it was his choice to have me speak with his employees while he was in the shop. He responded to facebook and reviews within minutes, and yet I still have never talked with him in person or over the phone. This issue could have been resolved on the first phone call, but instead you refused to talk with me until it was brought online. He seems to be very eager to talk with me as soon as I tell the world about my issue. Also, can you please explain to me Jared, how having an artist walk out on your shop is me forfeiting my deposit? The most unethical tattoo shop I've have ever heard of or visited. Christina upon reviewing the tattoo I wanted told me she could do it. I paid her upfront for a full sleeve. I went in and had my first of 4 sessions in which she did 1/4 of my sleeve. It was awful. Not only is it nothing like what I asked for but I am horribly scarred, the lines are aweful and it's an embarrassment to even look at. My dr has noted these scars are not normal and that the artist was to heavy handed with her needle. I even paid for the lucky bamboo aftercare! I tried calling the owner 4 times with no response after being referred to him from Christina. I then filed a dispute with my credit card company. The owner Jared responded to my dispute stating he met with me and reviewed my scars and that they are normal. A total fraudulent lie! He has never once met with me in fact I've never seen or spoke to the man.Then he proceeded to write in the letter that the balance of my 1200.00 was forfeited because I did not go in and have my tattoo completed within the appropriate time. So not only is he lying as Christina told me I had a year to complete it, he is stealing my money. Christina told me another artist in the faculty could fix the tattoo. I have all the emails between Christina and IWhy would I go in and have more damage done to my arm and a tattoo I did not want placed on my body? I will be seeing this establishment in court as this is fraud and I will not stand for this. I have all documentation to prove my case. Their deposit process is horrible. It makes no sense. I made an appointment for a six hour tattoo in multiple sessions. Their policy is a $50 deposit per hour, but they only take out $50 per session... makes no sense when you're making deposits per hour and not session. I am beyond thrilled! My husband and I had a bit of a hitch getting started with our pieces. I love this place! I only been once, but first impressions are very lasting! I visited from out of town. My sister and I decided to get tattoos on my visit, and this is the place that looked the most reputable in the Layton area. Our artist was Pineapple... he did an AMAZING job on a sister tattoo for us! A moon and a sun! My dog passed away and he was my heart dog and I made sure to get an ink print on paper of his paw. I wanted to make sure the artist I went to could do a VERY detailed paw print tattoo. I had read excellent reviews about Lucky Bamboo and I had friends that had gone there and had wonderful things to say about the place and the artists themselves. My husband and I got tattoos together with Pineapple. He did an amazing job at getting all of the tiny details of my dog's paw print! My experiences so far with Lucky Bamboo Tattoo have been nothing short of amazing. It isn't a typical place to get ink and this is clearly a business that prides itself in the work that they do. Yes, the price point is above the average place however the quality of work and the environment speaks volumes. The place is very clean, has a professional appearance, and the staff to include the front desk. My artist is Haylo. She was great with listening to what it is that I was lo...oking for and created a perfect piece that is beyond what I could ever ask for. She was very open to listening to ideas and being completely honest as to what would work, what wouldn't and why. In addition to this she was very specific as the time it would require to complete the design and provided clear instructions about how to take care of the tattoo during the healing period. The environment is surprisingly relaxed. It was nice to have my own place without being crowded which in my opinion creates a better environment for both client and artist. I have had two sessions so far with Haylo and both times I have walked away extremely happy with my results. Beware of Artist: Pineapple. This shop requires a $200 deposit BEFORE drawing up a thing. So if you don't like your sketch, tough, you're out $200. I had this very experience with Pineapple. For 6 weeks I could not get a sketch I approved of. He took as long as 2 weeks to answer emails. The day before my appointment I still don't have a final. I told him I'm not coming unless I get a final sketch. With every adjustment the price climbed and climbed. Finally he was mad that I wasn't coming and told him he was over priced. I'm the customer. He refused to do any tattoo work, transfer my deposit to another artist or give me a dime of refund. Go elsewhere. SLC ink for example. Read Less

I had a piece done by Christina and I'd heard lots of great stuff about her beforehand. She did an okay job on the piece but a few days after healing i noticed some of the lines were not quite right and the whole piece came very light. I followed the aftercare instructions to the T (not my first tattoo). I understand things are never perfect but what annoyed me was when i contacted her about touch ups she told me she couldn't fit me in unless I was coming in for another new piece. Couldn't be happier with the tattoo I received here a couple weeks ago. I had Christina do the work and it turned out exactly like what I was looking for. She's very talented, and very quick too. She conpleted a pretty big calf piece for me in about 4.5 hours. The place is clean and sanitary, and they're very focused on their art, not just making money. This shop has award winning tattoo artists - every piece of art by very tattoo artist that comes out of this shop is incredible. You won't be disappointed. I had my tattoo done by Christina, even though my tattoo was pretty specific, I wanted her to do whatever she felt would make the tattoo look awesome, she added an incredible background and some really nice additions that I didn't even think of - of course she asked if I'd be okay with it firstly and I couldn't be happier with what she designed!! I'm so proud to show off my tattoo - it's pretty large for the area and was my first tattoo - even though I had a bit of an issue staying still she was so patient and kind! She didnt make me feel uncomfortable, she told me everything I needed to know to take care of my tattoo and even gave me some extra bandages to help it heal. It also includes free touch ups. I was do nervous going into a tattoo shop but I saw Jared's work and wouldn't settle for less then amazing - he was booked a few months at the time and I was looking through books tey provided displaying the artists tattoos ( they also have a flippen awesome iPhone app that shows all the latest tattoos, any information about the shop and information about the artists) and I decided to go with Christina! I have been to Jared for two of my own tattoo's, and also for one of my wife's tattoo's. He is very talented, and produces amazing tattoo's. I have also had a few friends that have gone to him, and the others in his shop. He hires with the same integrity that he upholds for himself. Definitely skip Lucky Bamboo - or rather, don't get your tattoo from Jared. I wanted a small tattoo and he acted like I was just wasting his time. He forgot about the appointment, arrived late and acted like I was a throw-away client. Very bad customer service - he didn't even bother to give after care instructions, even though he knew it was a first tattoo. Thankfully, the nice person at the front desk filled me in. His whole attitude was ""let's just get this stupid thing over with."" So of course, the tattoo itself was poorly done. Months later, I had another shop re-do my tattoo and the guy said the line work was sloppy and I was way overcharged for what I got. I had called Lucky Bamboo to ask about some tattoos I had wanted. The owner Jared, is the one I spoke with. I made an appointment to come in and discuss what I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to the shop. It is the cleanest, nicest, most peaceful tattoo shop I have ever been in. I lived in California east bay area and had been in at least ten shops while I was there. I also have been to many in Utah, and not one of them came close to being the kind of shop that Lucky Bamboo is. When I first went in I had Christina do some work on my foot. I was actually very nervous and was very anxious and she was so patient with me and just laughed with me and made me feel so comfortable. She explained that it was going to hurt bad being it was on my foot, but she told me she thought I could handle it. I must say, it was worth ALL the pain that i felt. My tattoo is BEAUTIFUL. I have gotten so many compliments on it. Everyone that see's it wants to know where I went. She also did some work on the back of my neck as well.That too looks great. She has amazing talent for sure. On a different night I went in and told Jared what I had wanted. I had just wanted two words placed on my body I just had no idea where it would look the best. He helped me pick out a good place to do it. . He too was very patient and so easy going. He stayed until after closing to finish it for me.He was talking to me the entire time and helped me feel comfortable as well. I love the tattoos! I love the place that he helped me pick out as well. I get a lot of compliments about the spot that they are on. He is an amazing artist as well. I am going back in for some work on my back and my other foot. I have been to a lot of tattoo shops in utah and Lucky Bamboo is by far the best. The place is really nice on the inside-they put a lot of effort into making it relaxing inside. The staff is great-they will openly talk to you about anything-and answer any questions you have. The first time i went into Lucky Bamboo i wanted my sleeve fixed from the tattoo shop down the street-that place was a whole in the wall, with people who made it look like they just were into it for the money. Jarred happily looked at the tattoo and gave ideas to fix it and gave me a price that he would do it for. and now the finished product is amazing. The second time i went in there i wanted a pin up on my ribs-again Jarred looked at the area, i found my references that i wanted to use and he started-it took many sessions to complete it but now it looks amazing as well. I had been debating a tattoo on my ankle for quite some time. I had a mishap with ink on my neck getting all screwed up, so I decided to be choosy on where I went. I called Lucky Bamboo to see about a consult, and they told me they could consult me right then if I wanted to. So I drove down there, it was like 8:30, explained to Kollin what I wanted.. where.. and I even had a couple very tiny pictures to give him an idea. I informed him of the issue on my neck and he knew of my concerns. To my surprise he was able to work my hour long session in right then. I'm a wiggle worm and he was talking to me while I was getting tattooed and actually was very patient with all my questions and wiggling. He would simply stop and say ""ok you're wiggling too much again"", and I would collect myself and the work would continue on.I was never happier with a tattoo. The rosary on my ankle is still my favorite of my three. He even asked if it was okay if he did his own little touches and got my approval before just shading it however. Anyways, about a week into using the Lucky Bamboo tattoo kit (best stuff ever by the way, smells yummy too!) my tattoo started to look a little weird, and I didn't know if it was normal or not. The only tattoo I had at that point was on the back of my neck. I was panicked. I called in, and Kollin told me to come on in. He came early from lunch, and sat down in a room with me (almost in tears) and looked at my foot. Basically I was worried for nothing, but he assured me if it still wasn't turning out normal AFTER it healed, to come in and see, and he was happy I was concerned and stopped in. He was very adamant about saying ""if there's a problem, I'd rather see it and know it's nothing than to have you brush it off and have it really be something."" I've never felt more comfortable and taken care of in a tattoo shop (I've had work done at over 5 places in the area). They even do follow up e-mails which shocked me, because most places don't follow up unless you come in with a problem. Tattoos are definitely fun to get and fun to have, but just like cars, you want to trust where you're getting them from. As a clean freak, I'm impressed with their facility, and as a professional, I'm impressed with their staff to the highest degree. Not to mention the good pricing on the tattoo and the aftercare kit. I was actually under what I thought I was going to spend. Thanks Lucky Bamboo. OH! P.S. To the guy complaining about your deposit. You've got to be kidding me. They're not crooks or scam artists. This is the prime example (below) that you cant please everyone....isnt it funny how this comment is the only negative one. Yes we kept your deposit after spending many hours designing and drawing your piece which you did see drawing for(pieces of this nature dont happen over night). You wanted to cram a bunch of stuff in it that wouldnt go well with the piece so I started the new drawing which I told you I would have done by end of the week, you say ok....you show up before the end of the week angry that the drawing wasnt done and said you would go somewhere else! I apologize that you didnt get the service you wanted with me but sometimes it takes time to complete a piece of this size especially one as challenging as this, now if you had given me freedom on this piece it would have been completed quickly but the more demands on the piece the harder it is to get it done and have it look good. Last but not least....I did act like it wasnt a big deal....you came in and made a scene while I was tattooing a client and I was happy for you to take your business elsewhere.So please stop the lies and I strongly advise you to stop the slander....strongly!P.S. you never even asked for your deposit back as I would have given it back to you!Sincerely,Jared Read Less

I went into lucky bamboo, looking to get a chest piece and half sleeve. I had a few things I wanted to include in this tattoo. Since this is a custom tattoo shop, I thought I was in good hands. I explained to the owner/artist what I wanted to include in the piece and I would leave the rest up to him. He told me that it wouldn't be a problem, and that it would all be drawn up before my appointment so if I wanted any changes, he could do them on my appointment. Everything sounded good, So I paid the $50 deposit and a few days later went in for my appointment, and told the assistant I was there for my appointment. The assistant went and told the owner that his appointment was there. The owner had no idea what he was talking about. So they checked the appointment book, and sure enough It was in there book. So the owner said to me, I have been busy and I forgot about you, I have nothing drawn up. I wasn't happy, but things happen and I said thats ok we can reschedule. He told me to come back in a week and he would have the art work done. So I went back in and, once again no art work.. He said that he was having a hard time including the things I wanted and thats why he didn't have anything done. I said ok, lets go a differant route that will be easier for you. We discussed what he was going to draw up, and once again he told me to come back in a week and he would have the art work done. So a week later I went in, and once again for the third week, no art work!!! He just rubbed it off like it was no big deal, and that it was ok to run a buisness like that.. So to make a long story short.. Do not go to this shop, they will take your $50 deposit and never produce any work! Read Less

you should go into this shop if you are going to get a tattoo in utah im still amazedi hadnt heard about it before i started looking for the shop to get my work done at. granted it hasnt been open for more than a year yet. all of the employees and the owner have a great attitude i didnt get cold stares and sighs when i went to get my work done. i dont have much more room to cover but i can assure you that when i get to it i will be going back to lucky bamboo and not think twice. this shop has a friendly staff and is very clean, they are also open everyday 12 to 8 which is great because not many places are open on sundays! i love how its custom and they draw up all of their tattoo designs! i would highly recomend this shop to anyone who has had a bad experience and needs to find a better shop or as a comfortable place for nervous newcomers! i know now its the only place ill go Read Less

I had an amazing first tattoo experience at lucky bamboo i walked in feeling nervous and not sure of what to look for in a tattoo shop and as soon as i walked through the door one of the employees was talking to me about my first tattoo and even took the time to give me a tour of the shop and explain the way that the use and prepare all of thier equipment to provide a safe sterile and artistic environment to protect the health of thier clients. i recieved a tattoo from christina that turned out great and came back a week later to get my second tattoo from Kollin a little bit bigger this time that also turned out awesome. i would highly recommend lucky bamboo tattoo to anyone that is getting thier first tattoo or anyone that is trying to find a good experience that they havent been able to find anywhere else. thanks again guys and good luck!!! I am so excited to find a shop of this calliber in utah. I recently moved to utah from out of state where i had work previously finished by artists at other fine tattooing establishments. Since moving to utah i have been searching for a high end shop with classic american service. Although it took me a while to find a shop that fit my needs, I am pleased to say that lucky bamboo has gone above and beyond with my needs and expectations. First of all I saw picures of their shop and work on the website and on their myspace page which is what brought me to check them out, I was amazed at how nice, calm and professional the atmosphere and buidling was. I have been in many shops and this was the nicest by far!!! The artwork is amazing and they actually took the time to sit down with me and draw a custom tattoo which I have tried 3 other shops to do this for me. They took photos of my arm, made 3 initial sketches for my options of my sleeve, I picked the second and we setup an appointment to get it drawn on and tattoo it the same day. There was no rush and they made me feel very great about my options and what I wanted, you can tell that they want to delver what is wanted more than anything not just bangin out tattoos for cash.
