I came in yesterday evening to get a daith piercing. I was extremely impressed with the shop's atmosphere as soon as I walked in, everyone was friendly and helpful. I hate the feeling of walking into a tattoo/piercing shop and everyone act like snobs or like they don't want to help you because they assume that you're only there to look and not get like a huge chest piece or something so they don't want to bother with you. This shop is remote in an industrial area which at night is a little weird for a single female and her son to go to late on a Saturday night. As soon as I walk in I was greeted and asked if I needed any help. I spoke to a tattoo artist who informed me that Zach was the piercer and he was with a customer but would assist me shortly. The lady at the counter was very nice and even though she overheard she greeted us as well. While waiting there are two large display vases of jewelry that are clearly marked and kept spotless which I immediately noticed because to me the attention to that small detail means that sanitation is a huge concern for this place which put me at ease. I love art and although I don't consider myself an expert I was happy to look at the art on display and for sale by the same artists who work there. They are all very talented and reasonably priced for the attention to detail and all the different forms of media they each chose. Their skill is amazing and it's vastly different from any other establishment of this nature.Zach came over once he finished with the previous customer. He was very informative from the beginning in walking me through the process and explaining the piercing process. He then gave me the paperwork and explained what jewelry was available and most common and gave me options based on my experience with previous piercing metals and how each material reacts in most cases without overtly trying to sell me on the most expensive jewelry. He then left to sanitize the jewelry I chose while I finished the paperwork. Almost as soon as I was done he came around and took me back to his work station/office. He explained the entire process without making it feel rehearsed. I have been working in the automotive industry for over 20 years and have had to say the same redundant information to every customer for so long that sometimes it can come off a little sing songish, not with Zach. He treated me like I was the only person in that shop other than him. His skill at piercing is unmatched. I have had several piercing s in the past and although he said it was not going to be easy even when he had to insert and close the jewelry (which of course I chose the more difficult option) I was comfortable through the whole process. It was the smoothest piercing I have experienced to date and I am in my late 30s. I plan to come back for the other side later and when my son turns 18 later this year we plan to get his first tattoo there as well. I just got my belly button pierced, and my piercer was Ryan. It was overall a great experience because he walked you through everything that was going to happen. We had been looking everywhere to find a reputable place where we could get our daughter's ears pierced for her 16th birthday but we didn't want to go anywhere that used those unclean earring guns (like Clair's, etc...) we wanted a place that was clean like a doctor's office and we found it here at Scarecrow Galleries Tattoo & piercing!!! Very respectful and so professional and our daughter didn't even flinch they were so good!  Ryan told us exactly what he was going to do and step by step he talked her through the whole procedure and made sure she was good with each step before continuing!  5 Stars isn't enough but that is all Yelp has to give.  Very up front and honest.  Trustworthy place to get a piercing and know that you will be happy with the work! Not a fan of the piercer here. Didn't get a good vibe from him when I went in (2 separate occasions). Only carries 18g jewelry. Tattoo artists seem pretty legit tho. May go here for some ink but definately not for any new piercings.Read Less

So couple years ago I went in for a tribal tattoo and spent $1,200 and it covered the line work. It was done by this Alika guy. I told him my budget was $1,200 and only wanted half arm sleeve tribal. Well he kept pushing and said I can also do the chest piece all in the same budget. I said okay that's fine. After 24+ hours in 3 sessions he kept stopping taking breaks and we weren't getting anything done and I keep having to pay for every time. Then I call up there and Alika was no longer with them. I was furious. This guy screws me over then leaves. If it wasn't for the Daryl I believe his name was. I would've given this a 1 star. I still haven't gotten it finished and don't know when I can. I've washed guys for hours do great work but agree price has been there to bite me here. Read Less

I came in on my 19th birthday to get a tattoo. I called ahead to see if Kristie was available anytime that day or the next, and she told me that she was free that night. Anyway I came in, showed her that I wanted a traditional jellyfish on the back of my neck that was blue. Filled out paper work, waited for her to draw it up, got started tattooing, I got a few peeks at it,  and it looked better than I even imagined. Over all, out of the 6 tattoos I have, my jellyfish is by far the prettiest and well done. It was very very reasonably priced and I am stoked to get my next one from her! Read Less

I went in last night for my first ever tattoo and it was the most amazing and comfortable experience of my life! My tattoo was done by Zachary Kai and he did an absolutely amazing job! He spent over 4 hours on my tattoo and the detail of it has absolutely blown my expectations for it through the roof! I will for sure be going back to see him for more tattoos as well as touch-ups! My 11 year old daughter had her ears pierced by Kristie about a month ago. She was very nervous but said it didn't hurt at all. She had no redness, no swelling, no discharge or crust of any kind. She had them done at Claire's years ago and they got infected right away. Every friend she has got theirs at Claires and most got infections. I highly recommend taking your kid here. The cost is more but it is so very worth the extra money to have a happy kid with no infection. Read Less

I walked into this tattoo shop looking to get my belated wife's birth date and death date tattooed around a brain cancer ribbon which Kelly at Scarecrow did a year ago.  This was a milestone in truly starting the healing process as my wife was only 37.  Kelly no longer works at the shop, so I was assigned some other guy (short guy with glasses).  The dude I was assigned seemed very disinterested in such a simple tattoo although I was going to pay for a full hour.  He didn't collaborate with me or attempt to meet any of my ideas, and started setting up his workstation.  I asked if he could sketch a few fonts to give me an idea of his plan and he said he was going to free hand it.  I again asked him to draw out some numbers and he only got more upset.  Finally, I ask him if he was interested in doing this tattoo update and he stomped off to go draw a few things since I was persistent.  At this point, I told him politely that it didn't seem like we were "clicking," and maybe holding off on the tattoo and working with someone else was a better idea.  He started yelling at me and telling me to calm down.  I told him I wasn't the one yelling and I'm trying to honor my wife who passed away less than 3 weeks ago. I wanted it perfect and wanted to see SOMETHING before it was permanent on my skin.  He stormed off while cussing at me and left the shop.  I was HORRIBLY embarrassed and pissed off that he was making a scene while other clients were in the shop.  None of the other artists tried to defuse the situation, they just watched.  I left immediately.  I won't be back ever, and I will no longer recommend this place.I went over to Lone Star Tattoo (lonestartattoo.com) in Plano, TX the same night.  The owner collaborated with me on a few ideas he had and we settled on the design in under 5 mins.  He did such an awesome job that I ended up getting a SECOND tattoo on my arm.  Thanks Lone Star Tattoo for being professional and rocking out 2 awesome tattoos. It's a little bit hard to find (it's sort of tucked away from the road), but the search is definitely worth it. The place is very clean and the atmosphere is professional, not stuffy. From the interactions I had with staff it seems like they're good at what they do and don't take themselves too seriously. The large main room is full of gorgeous paintings that make the (very minimal!) wait time interesting. This was my first visit, but while I was there another customer walked in and was greeted by name. I came in on a Thursday afternoon and was seen immediately. I was looking to get my ear cartilage pierced, and was given an interesting selection of high-quality pieces to choose from. Kristie did my piercing and was amazing the whole way through. She always explained what she was doing before she did it, and checked with me constantly to ensure that things were how I wanted them. When she was done, and after explaining aftercare thoroughly and answering my questions, she told me to keep her updated on how my first piercing was healing up.All in all I had a really good experience and I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to get a piercing done (and though I didn't personally get a tattoo, if the tattoo artists are anything like the piercing artist, I'd also recommend them for tattoos). A while back I came in there on a Friday wanting to get a phoenix tattoo paid for the guy to do a drawing. I think it was about 30 or more, he told me to come back next Friday an he would have it done. When I showed up he said that he hadn't had a chance to get around to drawing it an that he would have something the next day if you're given a week to draw something an don't do it that's just being lazy. I don't recommend this place unless you like being over charged for work you may or may not get. Read Less

This place has a nice set up but how they deal with their customers is not ideal at all. If you tell a customer something on the phone and something different once they are in your shop, yeah I understand it happens... But don't talk to your customer in a way to where you make it their fault for something your employee said. Read Less

I recently had Matt work on a tattoo of mine. I brought him the idea of what I wanted, and even after several last minute design changes he made it look much better than I had imagined it being. A girlfriend and I wanted to get tattoos so we started asking around looking for recommendations for places and artists.  One recommendation was Dean Brown at Stray Cat Tattoo in Wylie.  We were provided his phone number so I called him and discussed a time convenient for all of us and the ideas we had for our tattoos.  The next day, New Years Eve Day, we met Dean at the shop.  The shop is hidden, so when you think you are lost in a warehouse district, you're there!  Once inside, the place is awesome, clean, friendly, and open.  Since it is also an art gallery, there is a lot of really nice art everywhere.  This is the cleanest and nicest tattoo shop I've ever been in in Dallas.Once we were acquainted, we showed him what we both wanted.  I emailed him my design and she just showed him a design on her phone.  Dean listened to any hesitations we had with sizing and details and clearly explained things to us to make us feel comfortable.Dean was fun and we all joked around the whole time, super funny but a quiet guy.  We kept teasing him about being a Gentle Giant, but don't tell him I told you that ;)  We met the owner, Daryl Distler, and he was very friendly also.Two hours later my friend and I walked out with awesome ink and some new friends!  When I'm in Dallas and need any work done, I will for sure take the trip out to see Dean!
