I walked in to try to set up an appointment with Nick. First off, there were about 3 people sitting around on their phones who didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in. I found Nick, and showed him that I wanted a record player on my forearm, with a few words above and below it. He automatically said that he couldn't do the words. He said they wouldn't fit, and that in the long run, the words would look bad. He wasn't even willing to try and help me with my tattoo, and give me what I wanted. I still put down the deposit, which was VERY stupid of me.This was a Thursday, my appointment wasn't until Monday.FRIDAY, the day after I put down the deposit, I called and asked for my deposit back, because I really wanted the words, and wanted to find someone that would actually do what I wanted, and wasn't rude about it. He complained, and said that he had already started working on my tattoo (mind you, there was nothing to work on, I gave him an exact drawing of what I wanted.) All he would have to do is trace it. I told him, cool, I understand, you don't want to draw for free, can you at least send me a pic of what you worked on? He told me that he doesn't send pictures of his work, and that I can come in and see it. I told him I work full-time, and am a full-time student and do not have time to come in and see it. Just send the picture?! - The thing is, I know he was lying, and didn't really work on it. That's why he wouldn't send a picture. I hung up on him, because I don't have time for that type of bullshit in my life. Hey Nick Moreno, I know you need that $50 more than me, go take a course on customer service, so you can learn how to treat people.I'm sick of rude/cocky tattoo artist. Just some advice... NO ONE wants to get a tattoo by an asshole. Oh, I went to Boardwalk tattoo's on San Pedro, and got the record player done, with the words, and it is beautiful. And the artist charged me less than what you estimated. BTW. I know a lot of people who want/have tattoos, and I will be telling them about how crappy Arc Angel's customer service is, and to go to Boardwalk instead. Read Less

I never do reviews but I had a bad experience at Dr Ink Tattoo (review there) so I came here instead! And let me tell you. Everyone there has amazing work! And Don had an opening since his person rescheduled. Lucky me! He really cared about what I wanted and the quality and age process! I absolutely love how my tattoo came out! This place is great! The guys were very nice & my piercer talked me through all the steps & made me feel comfortable before I got my piercings. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! Walked in to discuss getting a tattoo. We had ideas in hand. When we first walked in, 3 guys were just sitting around and no one acknowledge us. One of the waiting customers had to go behind the counter and get someone's attention. Soon as we started to explain what we where looking for, he instantly stopped us and said, you're gonna need images... I was thrown, but said, cool... let me get them. Come back in, we had a different artist talking. It felt like, he just blew us off (the first point of contact guy). So, talking to the second guy, trying to explain our ideas, and he immediately goes into "that's not gonna work!" This second guy, I was able to get his name and it was Nick. Very rude, short in responses, no listening skills, and poor customer service. We are not new to getting tattoos, however we go to "professionals" to kinda guide us in the right direction. If the vision a customer has, doesn't aesthetically makes sense, I feel you as the artist, should make it make sense.... Lastly I felt we were stereotyped and they thought we didn't have to money... 1. We're black 2. We're women 3. They felt we couldn't afford it. Great atmosphere with a lot of attitude! The style and unique artwork made you want to stay in this place. The flash tattoo wall is from Sailor Jerry.Don was the only needler and tattoo artist. My husband wanted 2 small tattoos. While he had to get up and assist other customers (nose piercing, and other piercings) he was SUPER fast coming back to tattoo my husband. He is speedy Gonzales with lettering though! FUN TIP; they have the coziest lounge chair in the front which is right up next to multiple outlets. I feel like that was planned. Great if you're having a friend in the shop with you but they can easily charge their phone while in the waiting area!ALSO,While its dudes working the shop, it was the CLEANEST BATHROOM and best smelling bathroom I've ever been into! Tattoos AND piercings are way overpriced. I paid $160 total for a tiny smiley face hand tattoo, which they messed up, adding a whole extra spot on it, and a septum piercing, which came out crooked and ended up having to be removed for irritation. Went here to get a daith piercing from one of the guys, because my family knows them personally, and had an infected piercing for a while, I tried to care for it the best I could, but wasn't given after care instructions and the fact that the piercer dropped the ball on the ground in front of me and then put it in my ear... Tattoo artist clearly didn't want to make money, i designed a tattoo for my sister and I to get and we went in to get a quote and the artist said the design was horrible and he would never do a tattoo like that, we then showed him a different one and he was trying to discourage us from getting it. I took a lot of time researching tattoo shops in San Antonio as well as asking around. A few people recommended this place and said it was very good and was affordable. I was a little skeptical at first because there were only 5 reviews. However, I decided to go. I worked with Louie and he drew up a tattoo on the spot and got started on it right away. He is an amazing artist and great tattooer. His work is extremely clean and he does not rush through it. He takes pride in his work. The whole shop takes pride in it's work and they make you feel at home. Everyone is extremely cool and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. I have only worked with Louie and he is working on my half sleeve and so far it is amazing. I definitely recommend him. All the other artists work is bad*** as well. This is the Best Tattoo Shop in San Antonio!!! I have had both of my sleeves done, my back, and my calves done by Anthony and Gill Montie at Arc Angel. This Tattoo Shop is maintained very well, it's very clean, has a ton of flash and the guys are very easy to talk to. I have had many custom tattoo designs done which all flow together well. They do NOT rush you, overcharge you or use cheap ink like most other tattoo shops do. Anthony the owner is very aware of making sure you are happy with your tattoo. Arc Angel is a great tattoo shop, I am completely satisfied and reccomend them to everyone, first timers and seasoned tattoo collectors. You will only be impressed. This is the Best Tattoo Shop I've been to, well let me clarify, I have been to more impressively designed and bigger tattoo shops, but Arc Angel in Universal City, well this is the Best most professional and highest qulaity of work produced shop I have ever been too. This shop is just north of 1604 in the Live Oak, Schertz type area. Easy to find right off Pat Booker road. Enough about that. I am writing a 5 star review because I have been so impressed with the quality of work done at this shop. I have had all three artist do work on me. Chris did a coy fish piece on my shoulder, it took him about three hours and looks like it was a mulitple sitting piece. I had Gill Montie do one of his ""world famous"" skull tattoos on my lower legs, and although he's known as Gill ""the drill"" it did not hurt worse than any other tattoo I have had. The skull looks awesome. My last tattoo was done by the owner Anthony, it is a black and grey skull on my forearm, he used 6 different machines doing it and 8 diffferent shades of black and great white highlights. This is a nice change from what I have had to deal with pretty much every time I have gotten a tattoo in San Antonio at other shops. Anthony is a Christian too! Anthony's tattoos have great color and always a custom flare that no other shop has come close to. Nice Clean tattoo shop. I had Anthony do my traditional Japanese Backpiece. It's an amazing tattoo and I'm always getting comments from people telling me that it's a great tattoo and comment on the color work, it's so bright. I have won 2 awards on it at different tattoo conventions one at Alamo City tattoo Show & at Voodoo Tattoo Show in New Orleans. I'm going back to have him do a traditional Japanese Dragon sleeve....
