Classic Tattoo and Body Piercing is a shop you can bring your mom to! With over 70 years of combined experience, Classic Tattoo specializes in bright, clean and neat tattoos all done within a professional environment. We have eight artists all versed in different styles and mediums. Appointments are required for large custom pieces but we also gladly accept walk ins of any kind.

**BE AWARE** This shop allows traveling gypsy artist or "guest" artist to tattoo out of their shop. These artist lack respect for the shop and their clients. The integrity of a tattoo shop is a reflection of the artist who tattoo there. I had an appointment scheduled with Jon Montalvo for about a month. I made it very aware, from the beginning, that I would be traveling to San Marcos from out of town. (3 hour drive) a couple of hours before our appointment, while I'm on the road, about 3/4 of the way there, Jon cancels on me. He tells me "something personal came up and he will not be able to make it into work today". I tell him that I'm already about to be in San Marcos, and that I'll come in anyways to see if anyone else has availability...I don't know.. (I'm in limbo at this point)Once I tell him that I'm already about to be there and that I'll see if anyone else can fit me in today, he then tells me "Ah man... that sucks... sorry, but my assistant made a scheduling error and I have to cancel one appointment today"... which he decided to cancel on the person who is traveling from 3 hours away. So at this point, I've already been lied to. I walk in the shop and Jon's in the back already tattooing someone. I later figure out via social media that he enjoys tattooing females... I guess that was his personal matter for needing to cancel on me. The front desk guy/artist Sox goes back to ask him if he can squeeze me in... squeeze me in... I've had an appointment scheduled for a month, with a deposit, and already traveled 3 hours... Jon then tells Sox to tell me that there's no "wiggle room" in his schedule... Jon couldn't even come up to the front to tell me this in person. I wanted him to look at me and tell me that I traveled this far for nothing, but he had Sox do his dirty work for him... I find this to be very timid, and cowardly of Jon. Now at this point, I don't even want to get tattooed by someone with no backbone. I don't know if there's a culture barrier, but where I'm from, that's not how you conduct business. If this situation was vice versa, I would have been considered a last minute cancellation/no-show, and would not received my deposit back. Followed by a preach of: "my time is money" "this is my livelihood" "I'm loosing out on other work" etc. etc. but if you're the client, it's just like ripping off a band-aid. Jon straight up lied to me, and did nothing to even try to make things right... but why would he? He's off to his next city in a few days; but Classic Tattoo will forever leave a nasty taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, these instagram tattoo artist nowadays like to play the whole supply and demand card way to often. So you're just another face and another dollar to them. These traveling tattoo artist like to over book their schedules on purpose to ensure they make enough money to pay for their trip, and traveling expenses. Then they like to trim the fat and cancel on clients once the time gets closer.Bottom line: Classic Tattoo is a street shop that specializes in over priced, palm-sized tattoos for college kids who just received their financial aid checks. I hear the shop owner is a wonderful lady, and I don't doubt that; but the shop is represented by the artist who tattoo there. The shop has zero oversight of the way each artist treats their clients, but it's the shops reputation that suffers from this.

DONT GO HERE. Most of these reviews are from college kids who just got there first tattoo and don't know the difference between good work and crap that just got sketched up without any care. They have no shortage of customers and know it; they won't care about what they put on your body and ask crazy prices. *Sharky* and *Mark Diehl* did pieces on myself and not only did I pay top dollar but they are both the worst quality tattoos I have gotten to date. Do yourself a favor because I've been lazoring this garbage and it's even more expensive to have it removed

Well, I was going to treat my girlfriend to a Tattoo for her birthday. It was a simple piece, probably a couple hundred bucks worth of ink and time. One of three that she plans to get. I suggested she set an appointment with one of two reputable artists in Austin that I use but she wanted to stay local. She tried for a couple weeks to set a tentative date and time at Classic. Finally an individual who answered the phone told her to call back at a certain time during the week and ask for an "artist" named Sox, which she did. I use the term artist lightly. If you see his work online you'll understand why. Anyway, she called in, the person who answered the phone asked Sox, or SUX as I'll call him, if he had an opening. He responded with "There's no way I have time and I don't want to do her tattoo anyway. It would be a waste of my time". It was clearly audible to myself and my girlfriend over the phone. Completely unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. Just because you're a sub par tattoo artist with repeat business solely because you work in a college town, does not mean you shouldn't hold yourself to some level of industry standard Mr. SUX. Have some decorum dude. You just lost the business two potential return clients.

We live in College Station and will ONLY come here for tattoo work! This place is simply the best! We always go to Morgan. Her artistic talent is beyond amazing, and she is seriously one of the best human beings as well. I am also impressed by their quality of work, and their expertise. If something is not a good idea (too much text, placement that stretched across different skin textures, etc.), they will let you know. Morgan has done two of my tattoos, and I am already ready to schedule my third. I'm not sure how to give all the right superlatives without sounding cheesey. All I can say is this: at Classic Tattoo you will receive a beautiful piece of art that will be well-done and stay in great condition. Love, love, LOVE this place!

Jaylind was supposed to complete the other half of my tattoo today, but emailed me at 10:37 pm last night to ask if I could reschedule because she was tired. (She had also already emailed me earlier that night to ask if I could still come in today and I promptly replied that I would be there) When I got the first part done, I told her that the 25th or 26th was the absolute last day I could come in because I travel for work. I was originally supposed to come in for the first part of my tattoo on Feb. 2, but she rescheduled that time too so she could go to Mexico. It didn't really bother me because I thought I had plenty of time, but she's too tired to work today and she knew beforehand that I couldn't come in after today. What am I supposed to do? I work 9 months out of the year primarily outside of Texas. I just don't want her to have any extra portion of my money because she kinda screwed me over, so I asked for my deposit back. She told me I was unprofessional and HOSTILE because I told her that, in this situation, a non-refundable deposit is 'stupid' and that I think that what she did was 'lame'. I just wanted a better solution. She's a good artist, too bad she has such a terrible work ethic.

Love love love Rebecca! She did such a wonderful job on my tattoo. Β The rate is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. Β If you're trying to get a big piece, you need to find an artist who knows what they're doing. The quality of their work definitely shows in their tattoos. Β Rebecca is a great artist and works fast! Β I was so surprised at how fast she finished my tattoo. We were able to get it done all in one session (3 hours, 45min), and she was about to be due in 2 months. Β When she had first showed me the design, Β it was smaller than what I had wanted and she was able to freehand a peony flower bud on the top to elongate the tattoo. Β Thank you Rebecca!

Sharky gave a bunch of us memorial tattoos for our mother. First off I wanted to get mom written underneath it. She said it would ruin the tattoo. Secondly this was the first person Iβve ever seen and I have a lot of tattoos that charges more based on placement. I get most artist hate doing small tattoos but we brought in 6 people and have 3+ more who want it.
After getting my tattoo I told her that I wanted to pay for my two sisters. She then told my sisters it was on the house for them but yet charged me the full price and of course lead my sisters in giving her a huge tip. If classic tattoo is going to hire people that treat others like this it will not be a place Iβll wver go again. Since San Marcos is my home town I will also be passing the word around to all my friends and their friends.
Did you not read what I posted?? She told my sisters they were free. So they gave her $120 tip when my sisters found out I paid they were pissed off.

Both piercers are so nice and gentle, and were very helpful with aftercare instructions.I recently visited back to get my nose pierced, but learned that they no longer do piercings anymore. :( sad because i wouldn't trust any other shop then classic for body piercings. She took the time to dig into what I was wanting, while allowing her artistic magic to shine through. I chose her first as an artist, and we co-created a vision for what would live on my body. The actual tattoo process was more like a meditation for me - her presence was calm, positive, and steady. I can't imagine a better experience than what I had at classic, and in the event I choose to get another one, it will be with Becca. <3

But I disregarded it and went back for my second tattoo... The word "inspire" very small on my arm in simple cursive and it was nearly $100! My boyfriend went with me to get one too and it was completely different then the outline, turned out very feminine, and he had to go to somewhere good to get it covered up. For sure not going back.

The tattoo artist Sox was great, he worked with me on what I wanted and did a great job. It is my favorite tattoo to date.I am very pale so colors look good on me but I also have a lot of freckles and those are hard to cover up with black in sometimes but he did a great job and it's not patchy at all.

The shop is clean and most of the artists rock, which is why I am heartbroken at my most recent tat. I went in to get a very important tattoo done. Sharkey is so good she is booked way out until January. I really wanted this done for my grandson who just got his jump wings in the Army. Apparently there was a reason Juan has time to do walk ins. The whole piece is crooked, the line work is aweful and my skin is bruised 2 inches around it. That's what happens I guess when you settle for less than the rest

My mom recently passed away and I decided that I wanted to have some of her handwriting done. I had trouble finding what I wanted tattooed (I love you) so I brought in a card that said "we love you" and a sample of her writing that had the letter "i" in it and Sharky pieced it together for me. You would have no idea by looking at it. She placed it perfectly, even taking the time to look again at my moms writing to make sure the "I" was placed correctly. The lettering looks just like my moms, not traced or copied. The attention to detail is amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. It only took her about fifteen minutes at most and it is such a small tattoo but she was very careful and detailed. It means a lot to me.

I was a tattoo novice when I went in back in February with one of my friends. We were both a little nervous and wanted very simple designs. We met with Brandon and he was very helpful and respected the fact that we wanted small line-art tattoos. My tattoo is a small sun on my ankle. I had a few things I wanted it based off. Brandon asked me a couple of questions and then directly drew my tattoo. I made a few suggestions, which he was completely open to, and he adjusted. All in all, I LOVE my tattoo. It is a small piece of sunshine for bad days, and I had a great experience at Classic.

I could tell from the moment I walked in that it wouldn't be a good experience. I had used Mystic Marks for my previous tattoos and piercings and was pleased with them, but had friends who praised classic so highly that I thought I would try them out for a very simple tattoo.What I was met with was disinterest in my design, lack of care in the drawing, and annoyance when I asked for parts of it to be tweaked so I could have it just how I wanted it. When it came time for the tattoo, my arm was shaved so roughly that it cut my skin, and then immediately alcohol was poured all over it, which both burned and made my skin puff up- not an ideal canvas for a tattoo.The end result looks bad. The lines are not straight at all, he went outside of the lines he drew, and worst of all is that when he pulled away to wipe the ink off, he trailed the gun on my skin so there are some random small lines leading away from my tattoo. It's a mess, and it's still very painful. I'll be going back to see what they can do to fix it as well as taking my business and all of my friends to Mystic Marks for all future tattoos.

The piercing was done so quickly I didn't even realize it had happened until it was done and the piercer did a great job of making sure I knew everything was sterile. The prices are phenomenal too! Can't wait to go back.Edit: I got my nose pierced here for the second time! My mom got a tattoo, my sister got her belly button pierced, and my best friend got another tattoo!

I have never been treated so rudely in my life! I walked in wanting to get a half sleeve done and I was blown off two artists, and when eventually someone did come to talk to me, he acted like it all was a huge inconvenience. I've checked out portfolios in every shop in San Marcos, and have discovered that this town is over flowing with talented artists, and ones way better than are at this shop. I would never give my money to these people. I spent my money down the street and got an amazing tattoo, by someone who treated me with respect.

I went back in 2 weeks and it wasnt even started! I then went back a week after and they couldnt even find the tattoo blueprint. I went back later that night and it didnt even look like a tattoo that took 3 and a half weeks to finish at all! THey told me they would call me when the tattoo was done but never did. We fought eachother through the Better Business Bureau. Look them up to get the complaint detailed! None of this is made up! If I were you, I wouldnt come to this shop. Unless you would like your $60 deposit to be stolen from you.

**BE AWARE** This shop allows traveling gypsy artist or "guest" artist to tattoo out of their shop. These artist lack respect for the shop and their clients. The integrity of a tattoo shop is a reflection of the artist who tattoo there. I had an appointment scheduled with Jon Montalvo for about a month. I made it very aware, from the beginning, that I would be traveling to San Marcos from out of town. (3 hour drive) a couple of hours before our appointment, while I'm on the road, about 3/4 of the way there, Jon cancels on me. He tells me "something personal came up and he will not be able to make it into work today". I tell him that I'm already about to be in San Marcos, and that I'll come in anyways to see if anyone else has availability...I don't know.. (I'm in limbo at this point)Once I tell him that I'm already about to be there and that I'll see if anyone else can fit me in today, he then tells me "Ah man... that sucks... sorry, but my assistant made a scheduling error and I have to cancel one appointment today"... which he decided to cancel on the person who is traveling from 3 hours away. So at this point, I've already been lied to. I walk in the shop and Jon's in the back already tattooing someone. I later figure out via social media that he enjoys tattooing females... I guess that was his personal matter for needing to cancel on me. The front desk guy/artist Sox goes back to ask him if he can squeeze me in... squeeze me in... I've had an appointment scheduled for a month, with a deposit, and already traveled 3 hours... Jon then tells Sox to tell me that there's no "wiggle room" in his schedule... Jon couldn't even come up to the front to tell me this in person. I wanted him to look at me and tell me that I traveled this far for nothing, but he had Sox do his dirty work for him... I find this to be very timid, and cowardly of Jon. Now at this point, I don't even want to get tattooed by someone with no backbone. I don't know if there's a culture barrier, but where I'm from, that's not how you conduct business. If this situation was vice versa, I would have been considered a last minute cancellation/no-show, and would not received my deposit back. Followed by a preach of: "my time is money" "this is my livelihood" "I'm loosing out on other work" etc. etc. but if you're the client, it's just like ripping off a band-aid. Jon straight up lied to me, and did nothing to even try to make things right... but why would he? He's off to his next city in a few days; but Classic Tattoo will forever leave a nasty taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, these instagram tattoo artist nowadays like to play the whole supply and demand card way to often. So you're just another face and another dollar to them. These traveling tattoo artist like to over book their schedules on purpose to ensure they make enough money to pay for their trip, and traveling expenses. Then they like to trim the fat and cancel on clients once the time gets closer.Bottom line: Classic Tattoo is a street shop that specializes in over priced, palm-sized tattoos for college kids who just received their financial aid checks. I hear the shop owner is a wonderful lady, and I don't doubt that; but the shop is represented by the artist who tattoo there. The shop has zero oversight of the way each artist treats their clients, but it's the shops reputation that suffers from this.

DONT GO HERE. Most of these reviews are from college kids who just got there first tattoo and don't know the difference between good work and crap that just got sketched up without any care. They have no shortage of customers and know it; they won't care about what they put on your body and ask crazy prices. *Sharky* and *Mark Diehl* did pieces on myself and not only did I pay top dollar but they are both the worst quality tattoos I have gotten to date. Do yourself a favor because I've been lazoring this garbage and it's even more expensive to have it removed

Well, I was going to treat my girlfriend to a Tattoo for her birthday. It was a simple piece, probably a couple hundred bucks worth of ink and time. One of three that she plans to get. I suggested she set an appointment with one of two reputable artists in Austin that I use but she wanted to stay local. She tried for a couple weeks to set a tentative date and time at Classic. Finally an individual who answered the phone told her to call back at a certain time during the week and ask for an "artist" named Sox, which she did. I use the term artist lightly. If you see his work online you'll understand why. Anyway, she called in, the person who answered the phone asked Sox, or SUX as I'll call him, if he had an opening. He responded with "There's no way I have time and I don't want to do her tattoo anyway. It would be a waste of my time". It was clearly audible to myself and my girlfriend over the phone. Completely unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. Just because you're a sub par tattoo artist with repeat business solely because you work in a college town, does not mean you shouldn't hold yourself to some level of industry standard Mr. SUX. Have some decorum dude. You just lost the business two potential return clients.

We live in College Station and will ONLY come here for tattoo work! This place is simply the best! We always go to Morgan. Her artistic talent is beyond amazing, and she is seriously one of the best human beings as well. I am also impressed by their quality of work, and their expertise. If something is not a good idea (too much text, placement that stretched across different skin textures, etc.), they will let you know. Morgan has done two of my tattoos, and I am already ready to schedule my third. I'm not sure how to give all the right superlatives without sounding cheesey. All I can say is this: at Classic Tattoo you will receive a beautiful piece of art that will be well-done and stay in great condition. Love, love, LOVE this place!

Jaylind was supposed to complete the other half of my tattoo today, but emailed me at 10:37 pm last night to ask if I could reschedule because she was tired. (She had also already emailed me earlier that night to ask if I could still come in today and I promptly replied that I would be there) When I got the first part done, I told her that the 25th or 26th was the absolute last day I could come in because I travel for work. I was originally supposed to come in for the first part of my tattoo on Feb. 2, but she rescheduled that time too so she could go to Mexico. It didn't really bother me because I thought I had plenty of time, but she's too tired to work today and she knew beforehand that I couldn't come in after today. What am I supposed to do? I work 9 months out of the year primarily outside of Texas. I just don't want her to have any extra portion of my money because she kinda screwed me over, so I asked for my deposit back. She told me I was unprofessional and HOSTILE because I told her that, in this situation, a non-refundable deposit is 'stupid' and that I think that what she did was 'lame'. I just wanted a better solution. She's a good artist, too bad she has such a terrible work ethic.

Β If you're trying to get a big piece, you need to find an artist who knows what they're doing. The quality of their work definitely shows in their tattoos. Β Rebecca is a great artist and works fast! Β I was so surprised at how fast she finished my tattoo. We were able to get it done all in one session (3 hours, 45min), and she was about to be due in 2 months. Β When she had first showed me the design, Β it was smaller than what I had wanted and she was able to freehand a peony flower bud on the top to elongate the tattoo. Β Thank you Rebecca!

Sharky gave a bunch of us memorial tattoos for our mother. First off I wanted to get mom written underneath it. She said it would ruin the tattoo. Secondly this was the first person Iβve ever seen and I have a lot of tattoos that charges more based on placement. I get most artist hate doing small tattoos but we brought in 6 people and have 3+ more who want it.
After getting my tattoo I told her that I wanted to pay for my two sisters. She then told my sisters it was on the house for them but yet charged me the full price and of course lead my sisters in giving her a huge tip. If classic tattoo is going to hire people that treat others like this it will not be a place Iβll wver go again. Since San Marcos is my home town I will also be passing the word around to all my friends and their friends.
Did you not read what I posted?? She told my sisters they were free. So they gave her $120 tip when my sisters found out I paid they were pissed off.

Very professional and clean shop, and the staff are all very welcoming and soo nice! I got my rook pierced by Dave, and my lobes pierced by Joe. Both piercers are so nice and gentle, and were very helpful with aftercare instructions.I recently visited back to get my nose pierced, but learned that they no longer do piercings anymore. :( sad because i wouldn't trust any other shop then classic for body piercings. However, I will return for a new tatt soon :)

Her botanical work on others that I know was so recognizable, beautiful, and the shading/colors were perfection. Exactly what I was looking for. She took the time to dig into what I was wanting, while allowing her artistic magic to shine through. I chose her first as an artist, and we co-created a vision for what would live on my body. The actual tattoo process was more like a meditation for me - her presence was calm, positive, and steady. I can't imagine a better experience than what I had at classic, and in the event I choose to get another one, it will be with Becca. <3

They were pretty nice, and I was excited to get my first tattoo here and it was a simple cross. Solid color, very easy to do... And the Guy made the line crooked. But I disregarded it and went back for my second tattoo... The word "inspire" very small on my arm in simple cursive and it was nearly $100! My boyfriend went with me to get one too and it was completely different then the outline, turned out very feminine, and he had to go to somewhere good to get it covered up. For sure not going back.

The tattoo artist Sox was great, he worked with me on what I wanted and did a great job. It is my favorite tattoo to date.I am very pale so colors look good on me but I also have a lot of freckles and those are hard to cover up with black in sometimes but he did a great job and it's not patchy at all.

Sharkey is so good she is booked way out until January. I really wanted this done for my grandson who just got his jump wings in the Army. Apparently there was a reason Juan has time to do walk ins. The whole piece is crooked, the line work is aweful and my skin is bruised 2 inches around it. That's what happens I guess when you settle for less than the rest

My mom recently passed away and I decided that I wanted to have some of her handwriting done. I had trouble finding what I wanted tattooed (I love you) so I brought in a card that said "we love you" and a sample of her writing that had the letter "i" in it and Sharky pieced it together for me. You would have no idea by looking at it. She placed it perfectly, even taking the time to look again at my moms writing to make sure the "I" was placed correctly. The lettering looks just like my moms, not traced or copied. The attention to detail is amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. It only took her about fifteen minutes at most and it is such a small tattoo but she was very careful and detailed. It means a lot to me.

I was a tattoo novice when I went in back in February with one of my friends. We were both a little nervous and wanted very simple designs. We met with Brandon and he was very helpful and respected the fact that we wanted small line-art tattoos. My tattoo is a small sun on my ankle. I had a few things I wanted it based off. Brandon asked me a couple of questions and then directly drew my tattoo. I made a few suggestions, which he was completely open to, and he adjusted. All in all, I LOVE my tattoo. It is a small piece of sunshine for bad days, and I had a great experience at Classic.

I could tell from the moment I walked in that it wouldn't be a good experience. I had used Mystic Marks for my previous tattoos and piercings and was pleased with them, but had friends who praised classic so highly that I thought I would try them out for a very simple tattoo.What I was met with was disinterest in my design, lack of care in the drawing, and annoyance when I asked for parts of it to be tweaked so I could have it just how I wanted it. When it came time for the tattoo, my arm was shaved so roughly that it cut my skin, and then immediately alcohol was poured all over it, which both burned and made my skin puff up- not an ideal canvas for a tattoo.The end result looks bad. The lines are not straight at all, he went outside of the lines he drew, and worst of all is that when he pulled away to wipe the ink off, he trailed the gun on my skin so there are some random small lines leading away from my tattoo. It's a mess, and it's still very painful. I'll be going back to see what they can do to fix it as well as taking my business and all of my friends to Mystic Marks for all future tattoos.

The piercing was done so quickly I didn't even realize it had happened until it was done and the piercer did a great job of making sure I knew everything was sterile. The prices are phenomenal too! Can't wait to go back.Edit: I got my nose pierced here for the second time! My mom got a tattoo, my sister got her belly button pierced, and my best friend got another tattoo!

I have never been treated so rudely in my life! I walked in wanting to get a half sleeve done and I was blown off two artists, and when eventually someone did come to talk to me, he acted like it all was a huge inconvenience. I've checked out portfolios in every shop in San Marcos, and have discovered that this town is over flowing with talented artists, and ones way better than are at this shop. I would never give my money to these people. I spent my money down the street and got an amazing tattoo, by someone who treated me with respect.

I went back in 2 weeks and it wasnt even started! I then went back a week after and they couldnt even find the tattoo blueprint. I went back later that night and it didnt even look like a tattoo that took 3 and a half weeks to finish at all! THey told me they would call me when the tattoo was done but never did. We fought eachother through the Better Business Bureau. Look them up to get the complaint detailed! None of this is made up! If I were you, I wouldnt come to this shop. Unless you would like your $60 deposit to be stolen from you.
