TRAVIS IS THE BEST! I've been wanting to get a Persian poem from 1258 as a tattoo. So a couple of weeks ago I went shopping around for a tattoo artist who might be able to do this. While this isn't necessarily a complicated piece of art, it does require someone with a steady hand who can handle the difficulty of tattooing in an intricate language which the tattoo artist is unfamiliar with. Furthermore, the picture of the poem I'm using as the piece is from a handwritten manuscript from a couple hundred years ago. I visited the 10 highest rated tattoo shops on yelp. A couple of the places looked at the piece, said they could do it, and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment. They didn't really acknowledge that this was a difficult piece. A couple of the other places recognized the difficulty of the piece and had me speak with a specific artist. I had a mix of responses. Travis at Dandyland was different. He met with me, told me that this was doable but acknowledged that this would be a piece that requires a different skill set than tattooing artwork. He said he was going to have to blow up the image so that the words were big enough because over time smaller words would blend together. Also, he was really the only artist who seemed genuinely interested in doing the tattoo. He really seemed excited to make me happy with getting what I wanted. I So after shopping around for an artist, I picked him. He spent a lot of time editing the piece on photoshop so that it would be big enough to still look good 30 years from now as well as cleaning up the lines and moving the lettering around so that everything would be centered - mind you, he did all this editing on a language he doesn't know. On the day of the tattoo, I came in and he showed me the stencil. He was really patient and helpful as we edited the piece on photoshop to get it exactly as I wanted so that it would look good on my body. We went through a couple of versions so that it fit perfectly on the location of my body I wanted it on. He was patient, calm, and helpful through the whole process.Then came the tattooing. Despite this not being my first tattoo (I have a lot), he still walked me through the process and gave me some rules (if you need to move or adjust tell me first so that nothing gets messed up, etc.). He worked through the lettering of the Persian language with a slow and steady hand. The finished product looks amazing! It looks as if he hand wrote it himself. As far as the shop itself, I would I highly recommend Dandyland. All the tattoo artists are actual artists. There is no "flash" (preselected tattoos to choose from). All tattoos done here are custom artwork. I am so happy I chose Travis at Dandyland. I will be coming back to him for all future tattoos. I have 7 tattoos and I am by far the happiest with this one. Very cool experience with my daughter getting her cartilage pierced! Piercer was very patient with my 15 year old and me as a mom. Sterilized needles and everything is very clean. My daughter says the piercing didn't hurt one but. They explained everything as soon as we let them know what we were looking for. Very friendly and informative.  Answered all of my questions and never pushed for a decision.  Atmosphere quiet and relaxing.  Everything very clean.  Eric explained everything before he did it and was very professional.  I initialed the package of my needle before it was sterilized and he showed me it had passed sterilization after.  Really fast process.  Longest part was deciding which stud to get.  Received an after care package with solution and directions.  They will want to recheck piercing in 8-12 weeks.  Very glad I was referred there by Fortune Bros. If you are looking for a legitimate, professional, QUALITY piercer, this is where you want to go. I have been wanting my front-helix pierced for quite some time, but also wanted to add a third ear piercing, specifically for jewelry I purchased for my upcoming wedding (it's in 2.5 months). My fiancé and I called ahead and popped in on a Monday. Aaron was happy to take care of me and gave us a quote during our consultation for 3 piercings plus the jewelry needed for the actual piercings. We were a go, and I was super excited! We all headed back to a private room where the piercings would happen and we began chatting. It came up that our wedding was a destination wedding in Playa Del Carmen, and we would be snorkeling. At that point, he advised against having my helix pierced, as he would not feel comfortable with me being submerged in ocean-water so soon after that particular piercing. So basically, this guy advised against something that would have made him (and the shop) more money, but would have potentially put me at risk for infection. Wow! That's amazing! He cared more about my safety than making an extra buck. This is a rare thing to find today. Needless to say, I will be back as soon as we're home from Mexico to have my helix pierced, and we are bringing my daughter to him tomorrow for her ear piercing consult. Today I decided I wanted a nose piercing. I called and asked if they accepted walk ins and they kindly welcomed me to come in and come get my piercing at that moment. So I went in and the staff was super nice and professional. They have a wonderful selection of jewelry and the place is super clean and beautiful. When I went into the room the man who did my piercing (I can't remember his name only his awesome blue eyes!!) gave me very detailed info on how to clean my piercing and told me the what not to do's as well. The sterilization of the needle and equipment was also done professionally. They show you first hand the cleanliness of the tools by giving you a result paper that determines how clean the tools are. I just got my nose pierced by Miro today and he was fantastic! The place is very nice and clean and it only took me 30 mins or less to get checked in, pierced, and checked out. It was a much more comfortable environment to get pierced in rather than other places where I just sat on a bench in a hallway to get pierced. Had piercings done by Whitney and it was a really awesome experience! I knew I had to go to a reputable piercing shop and decided to come here as all the piercers are members of the Association of Professional Piercers (only place in San Antonio that has piercers with this certification). She was professional, kind, and very thorough in explaining the whole piercing process and aftercare. The setup was very clean and all equipment goes through a sterilization process. Just visited Dandyland today for the very first time. My sister and I went in for piercings. First let me start by saying the shop is gorgeous! We loved all the little details in there! Also the place was super clean. We had Aaron do our piercings. I got a nose piercing and my sister got a chest dermal. We both thought the experience was almost completely painless. Wonderful experience with Miro at Dandyland! I had set a trio appointment with myself, my sister and mom to get nostril piercings. We asked if we could squeeze my second sister in and he happily obliged. I was shocked how painless and fast the piercing itself was (thanks to Miro and superb dexterity) however, I am queasy about needles and started to feel lightheaded. Miro sat me down and rushed to get a cup of water and a glucose tablet so I wouldn’t faint. Miro was patient and gracious in making sure I was comfortable and I felt better in no time. So I took my daughter (15) to Dandyland to get her cartilage pierced. We chose Dandyland because of their sanitation practices. We were greeted at the door and they explained everything that they do to ensure their equipment is sanitized. The process was very quick and we were in and out within 30 minutes. Don't be distracted by the location of this business. They have Great costumer service and it's a very clean and professional looking establishment. They're very responsive on Facebook. Ask them a question there and you'll get a quick response. We set an appointment that way and we were admitted on time. Can't say anything about their tattoos (maybe in future!) but piercings were done in a super professional way. In fact, my wife wanted three piercings but got two because the piercer concluded the anatomy didn't allow for that particular one. This is HUGE as I used to run two health departments in rural NC where Hep C was a huge problem. Some prior reviews complain about price. BUT you get what you pay for. My jewelry is in excellent condition y and my piercings are healing without complication. I had a botched tattoo recently, and much time was spent with me to explain my options and stages of healing required to rework the tattoo properly. I just went in to get my piercings done with Miro. I walked right in everyone was very welcoming the whole place is very clean, it smells nice. The jewelery is beautiful not cheap at all. Had a forearm tattoo done here about 3 weeks ago. Though my appointment started at 3, I got out of class early (around 2:15) so I decided to head over there and hope my artist would be ready for me. Unfortunately he wasn't but it was no big deal since I cleared my entire day's schedule to get my tattoo. 2 1/2 hours later, he was finished with the stencil and it looked great! He got a slightly different picture than I had given him, but it was lighter and allowed him to copy more of the details hidden in my photo so that was a plus. We finally got started around 5:30pm. Almost 6 hours and 3 breaks later, he was finished. The detail in my finished tattoo was amazing! It was way above my expectations (no offense) of what I thought he could do. The only thing that's preventing me from giving this shop 5 stars is the fact that I spent close to 8 hours of my day for about an 8 inch tattoo on the inner part of my forearm. Wish there would have been less breaks or at least a slightly bigger size, but I am completely satisfied with my tat nonetheless. Definitely going back for my sleeve except this time I'm gonna check up to see how my stencil is coming along before I show up and spend a good chunk of my day just waiting. Read Less

I went to Dandyland on the recommendation of a trusted friend, and was sorry I did. Maybe if I had gotten another artist... WHo knows? So, I sent "Cheese" my peacock pattern, and told him I wanted a realistic looking tattoo, with loads of color. He said he specialized in realistic, though he had a drawing for me that looked cartoonish. It was pretty, though nothing like my design, and he talked me into it. My fault, my responsibility entirely. I should have been more insistent, but I do believe in giving an artist some artistic liberty. He assured me it would look more realistic than the drawing. Three hours later, I had a partial outline of a stylized (not realistic in the least) peacock. While it was certainly pretty, it was nothing like what I had sent him. Now, the more I look at it, the more I hate it. It almost looks more like a phoenix than a peacock, and it looks as though it is folded in half, as opposed to flowing with the contours of my body. The neck is too long, and the face looks like some flash I've seen. I'm very sorry that I let Cheese talk me into something other than what I sent him, though I have someone else willing to try to fix this mess. The moral of the story, DO NOT LET SOMEONE TALK YOU INTO SOMETHING THAT HE WANTS. Yes, ultimately my fault and my own responsibility, because I let him talk me into it. Read Less

I had a tattoo done elsewhere several years ago and it was not done very well and I had wanted it redone for several years. I met with Miles and he took a drawing of what I wanted and took picture of my old tattoo and then created a new tattoo to cover it.
