I recently was tattooed by Josh along with my husband, brother and SIL. They were all in memoriam of my Dad who passed away earlier this year. Our plan was for me and my siblings to get tattooed on his birthday. I was very disappointed, however, with the owner's unwritten policy regarding serving HIV positive patrons. He really could not give a clear answer as to why he wasn't willing to let my brother get a tattoo. He said it was bc he would liable if the tattoo didn't heal correctly. My brother recently got a tattoo in June that healed perfectly fine and we all signed releases anyway so I felt that "policy" was really just preference. The one thing that stood out is that he said if my brother hadn't disclosed his status that he would have been able to get a tattoo. That was really patronizing and insulting to our family. The ONLY reason we didn't go somewhere else is because the date was significant and we didn't want to waste the artist's time. Every other place we called had no problem with HIV. I get it's a small town (our home town) but I thought since it's 2018 people would be more educated about this.TL;DR If you are HIV positive don't disclose your status so you won't be discriminated against, but please make sure to tell Mike Packer afterwards. Also if you go request Josh Strader. He is an amazing artist with integrity and he doesn't judge you. Drove from Austin to get a memorial tattoo with my siblings. The tattoo was is honor of my fathers birthday today who passed in March of this year. We were excited do share this experience as a group. After arriving from a 3 hour drive we set up what we wanted with he artist (who was amazing) I informed Mike the owner of my status. Out of no where I'm told that they have a policy not to work on people who have HIV. His policy which is not stated anywhere is that it's to risky because apparently People with HIV are not responsible enough to take care of a tattoo, and he can't be liable if someone tried to sue if the tattoo didn't heal properly. Good thing you have a disclosure that states you're not liable for such action either way. (Mike, do you read your own forms?) I happy the artist was polite and willing to do the work but unfortunately his boss Mike Packer is ignorant or a bigot, not sure.? Disclosing my status is hard enough to do but to be shown that even a nice face and polite words can show how uneducated people can be to people with disabilities. This shop is the best! Had my 2nd visit tonite. Have seen 2 different artists and both are super talented. Tonite, had a coverup and I could not be happier. I have patroned many tattoo shops; mostly in the Austin, Houston, and greater Houston area. Packers is now and will forever be my "tattoo home". Mike Packer and Joel's portfolio's speak for themselves but the customer service is beyond superb. While I was there tonight, 2 ladies getting their first tattoos were (understandably) pretty nervous. Overhearing how the artist, Kathryn, was treating her clients was remarkable. She made sure her client was comfortable and guided them through every step of the process. Tattoo shops are notorious for being snobby to first time clients. This is not the case for Packers. Only shop I'll ever go to. May be pricier than other shops, but you get what you pay for...the artists there are dedicated to their profession and are actual artists, not just tracers and colorers. I have 2 half sleeves done there, and even when the other artists don't have appointments, they are either prepping, getting supplies ready, researching, drawing, or painting and perfecting their craft. After visiting a couple of disappointing shops that said they couldnt do what we wanted, we decided to try Packer's. We wanted a Kestrel on the wrist and Virtue Tattoo wanted to make it the size of her entire arm or they "couldnt do it". There was an immediate difference when we were greeted by Kathryn Stilley. She told us right away, without a doubt, that she could give us the tattoo we wanted in the size that we wanted. She drew it up, sized it to our liking and made it happen. Just got my second tattoo from them, have one from both Joshua and Mike. Clean shop, friendly as hell and will work their ass off for you. Not to mention great artist! Great artists, great people. If you want a good tattoo definitely go to them. You won't be sorry you did. You'll probably end up wanting more work done. He's that good. Remember a good tattoo isn't cheap, and a cheap tattoo isn't good. The price is very reasonable. Read Less

i cant even express how happy i am about my tattoo. josh strader was recommended by a friend cause i always loved the look of her tats. i went to josh & told him what i wanted then told him to do his thing & blend all the pieces together. i was blown away...we started it last night & have a few hours left. if you have something permanently put on your body make sure you get what you pay for. my wife got her first tattoo ever by another artist...with luck from a random cancellation. she told him what she wanted & he created the look of it which was different than what you normally see. amazing talent & worth the drive to rosenberg, yes rosenberg...seems like a fish outta water location. but its the real deal...like "rosenberg ink."�� Read Less

My daughter needed her ears re pierced due to ear piercing gone wrong. Staff were attentive, and very c;lean and sterile Facility is clean and there is some wonderful artwork done by the artists all over the walls. I went in to get a tattoo of a word in my grandmother's handwriting and I was super disappointed. The tattoo is scratchy and the line work is busted and looks nothing like the photo I gave the artist or even the stencil he put on me. The stencil was perfect and looked amazing, but the actual tattoo is horrific. Read Less

I've been here for my sleeve, my septum and belly piercing. I wouldn't go anywhere else!! Mike is so dedicated to his work I was thoroughly impressed how far he went into just my sketch. I got a tattoo from Packer about a year ago and I must say it's still the best, most detailed, tattoo I've come across in a long time. The fine, crisp details and sharp points took a lot of care and a really steady hand. Packer himself specializes in custom tattoos - exactly what I was looking for. I brought him my idea, the little details I wanted on it, and my concerns about it. The design itself was a Jolly Roger. I believe that a lot of artist's can just put a design on you, but it takes a special, great artist for me to say, I want what's usually deemed a masculine tattoo to look feminine. I had no preconceived design to help him, just a bunch of "stipulations" I'd call them and he made a masterpiece just for me. If I could've stayed in the area, I'd gone to him for all my tattoos. If your wanting custom work and like to be detailed with your tattoo's design it's defiantly worth your while to see Packer at Packers tattoo. Read Less
