I've been here twice for piercings, but never a tattoo. I got a standard nostril piercing done here a couple of years ago, but it was by someone that no longer works at this establishment. Went back about a month ago for and industrial piercing by Meghan. She gave a rundown of how it would go, but kind of skimped on aftercare instruction (however, I'm assuming this was because I told her that I had my nose done here as well). The price is steep, $80 because it's technically two piercings, but it's to be expected with the shop's reputation. But I don't mind paying the price because I know I'll end up something of quality. The prices do limit how often I can go here, but I really can't imagine going somewhere else. Read Less

I want to Sparrows to get my conch piercing jewelry changed Megan. The first time when she changed the jewelry(sterling silver) to the hoop she DIDN'T clean the jewelry before placing it in my ear. I woke up to a bump in my ear. I went back to Megan and explained what happened, she then put a titanium bar in my ear AGAIN she did not clean it (so unsanitary). After a couple of days the bump went down and I purchased some nasal rinse like I was told my Megan to help it heal. The bump then returned but worst. It was oozing and bleeding. I went back to Megan and she ensured me that if I put tea tree oil on it, within 2 days it would go away. I gave it a week. Still nothing. I went back and all she could say was "oh man I was for see that tea tree oil would do the trick, oh well" I asked her to remove it and asked if i could get it pierced again at no charge or discounted since she is the reason I don't have the piercing anymore. She looked at me crazy and asked if it was her fault. I said no kindly even though clearly it was and asked for the managers number. At the same time she was texting her manger and she put her phone done on the table to write down the managers number. I happen to look up and I saw in her phone "some girl wants a discount on another piercing because she had a bad reaction to jewelry." That's clearly not what happened but i left it at that and left the shop. I called the manager who also seemed to be rude and after I got off the phone with her, I thought would i really want somebody who doesn't clean jewelry or the area i want pierced for that matter to do anything on me, let a lot touch me. I went in last week to get my septum done by Megan. My friend recommended her and the reviews on here had me pretty confident that she knew her stuff and it'd turn out great. Unfortunately, I caught Megan on a bad day and my end result suffered for it. As soon as we went into her office she made it very clear how bad her day was going by cursing everything that didn't go right, as well as talking badly about another client that was in the waiting area. I felt so awkward from the moment I walked into Sparrow and especially when she was freaking out, but I wanted the piercing so I looked past that. Secondly, she did not clean the area before piercing and to clean the jewelry she sprayed h2ocean on it which seemed weird.Lastly, my septum is CROOKED! To me it's very noticeable but nobody has said anything yet. I'm so disappointed that my expectations did not meet reality with Megan. I won't be coming back. Read Less

I took my daughter to get her ears pierced for the first time and Megan did fabulous! Any questions my daughter had(who is 6) she answered them and answered mine as well. She gave me some new information about self care afterwards that was different from when I got my ears pierced when I was kid and it was great information because my daughter got no infections and is still wearing her earrings. They require a 100.00 minimum regardless of size and detail. I'd pay it in a heart beat for something that's permanent to ensure a job well done. However I would never pay even 20.00 for their lack of professionalism and down right pathetic attitudes. I've had Chris Judd do piercings for me twice and he was amazing. The rest of these guys literally lay on the couches in there F bombing like they're better than everybody. Laziest, rudest jerks.. (I certainly wouldn't refer to them as artists)I've ever seen. I've been wanting to get my septum pierced for a while now and felt like I just needed to go ahead and get it done! After asking many friends, they all suggested I get it done at Sparrows. I came in around 6ish and went to the front desk. The process is pretty simple. ID, fill out form, pay, and then wait to be called. They only accept cash, but they do have a ATM in the back! After waiting about 5 minutes I was finally called by Megan. I just want to say that she was very kind throughout the entire thing. She made me feel very comfortable. She wasn't in any kind of rush and let me go at the pace I wanted before she put the needle in. She knew exactly what she was doing and I felt extremely confident letting her pierce me. I've had terrible experiences with piercings at other establishments, I highly recommend coming here. She explained how to take care of the piercing and gave me her card to contact her in case I had any questions, even saying I could come back in and ask her in person if needed!I'm very happy and would definitely recommend coming here if you want to get something pierced and ask for her. This review is not for the entire staff at Sparrow, only the artist I dealt with. Zach is a talented artist, no question about it, but he does not care about helping make your tattoo the best it can be. Almost all the other artists I've dealt with in the past offered ideas on how to make the tattoo better. Zach drew an average sketch and then left me to critique and critique until I felt it was time to begin. Looking back I realized the tattoo could have turned out better if Zach had given some great ideas on how to make it perfect. I'll pass on the free touch-up. Couple tips before you go get your art done: the shop is Cash Only so hit up your bank before you go. Second, it may just be me as I'm a little pansy when it comes to the cold, but bring a jacket. Last, check out their website so you can choose which artist is best suited for your style of tattoo. I worked with Cody Dresser on a Star Wars piece. I showed him a picture I found on pinterest and from there he transformed it into a full blown work of art. Extremely clean and friendly setting (I mean, you can't beat watching The Office while being worked on). Definitely make this an option when you're looking for some work done. Read Less

When you make an appointment you expect to go in and have a freelance hand drawn picture (that's what real tattoo artists do) But instead you get a complete copy of someone else's work.  Traced from the internet!!!   I can trace too dumb fucks.  This place sucks and they're fucking dicks on top of that.  They act like some big shot tattoo parlor but they are fakes.  Like their time is so valuable and then you go to the "appointment"  to see some traced shit.  That's not tattoo art that's stealing-plagiarism like a mf!  Don't go here. They want to charge like they're big shots but they suck!!  Artists don't trace pictures and pass them off as their own art!!! You could go to the grocery store and get a temporary kid tattoo for a buck and it would look better! Read Less

This review is about piercing (I have never gotten a tattoo there so I can't review that). My daughter wanted second holes in ears for her birthday so I took there (not knowing Russell had left - which of course he wouldn't tell us where Russell had gone) about 3 weeks ago. The current piercer was awful. He was rude (total d!ck of epic proportions) and he told my daughter everything that was "wrong" with her ears (they weren't even, this one poked out, etc). Ummmmm, hello!? Who does that to a 14 year old girl!? He charged $80 for the piercing and used jewelry that was awful (seriously, you can get better earrings at Claire's). The earrings he used were wing backs (ummmm, why is a reputable tattoo/piercer using Walmart quality jewelry? And 1983 called - they want their earrings back) and caused a horrible infection. They were on so tight I couldn't pull off the back. I just took her to Russell (@ Sleepy Hollow in Rendon) so he could change out the earrings. Seriously, save yourself the money and go to Claire's! Or, if you're like me and want a quality piercing AND high quality jewelry go to Sleepy Hollow and see Russell. He's worth every penny! He's pierced my 2 year old ears and did this daughter's cartridge (as well as fixing these current piercings). I would follow him anywhere! He's THAT amazing! Stay away from the piercings at Sparrows. You'll spend twice as much because you'll have to go somewhere else to get their crappy work fixed! Read Less

Russell did an amazing job on my nose piercing. I was very nervous and he made me feel so much better about it all. He made sure I would be able to put a hoop in when it heals, and I'm so happy with it! Russell was absolutely wonderful. I knew I was in good hands as soon as we met. I have blistering headaches, and decided to give daith piercing a try. I just got home, so I can't vouch for the cure. This place is hands down the best tattoo shop I've ever been to. It's VERY CLEAN AND PROFESSIONAL. The whole staff was very welcoming and knowable. The price was very reasonable and Jessie is a beautiful lady with a magic set of hands. Chris Judd was amazing. I got my first tattoo done by him, and I was getting three very big roses starting on my thigh and going up to my ribs.  He was very helpful, patient and chill. It took about 5 hours, and cost $700. It was a very big piece.  he did take breaks a few times to pierce some walk in clients. But it gave me a chance to recover. He didnt rush at all and make me feel bad for being a whiny baby when it hurt really bad.  It healed up within a week and looks great (its been two months). A bit of the linework is a little heavy and maybe a tiny bit shaky (only if you stare), but I did wiggle a lot and my skin was shaking. If you are looking for a tattoo artist, go to Chris Judd. I researched tattoo artists all over DFW that did great floral work. I found Danny Elliott and was lucky that he had a last minute opening. He tattooed both my forearms and both turned out perfectly. He is also a very nice guy who went above and beyond to make sure it was exactly the way I wanted it. Everyone in the shop was helpful and professional. Came by around 3:30pm an walked inside. There were several people already waiting.Looked around as no one was being helped only to find a few artists in their respective booths. I decided to call while inside to see if a phone would ring that would prompt someone to come to the lobby, but the line was busy thus no one ever walked out.As more individuals walked in, I waited patiently and watched about 20mins worth of some old Chris Farley movie before leaving to grab a bite.I came back after about another 30mins to find an artist outside on break smoking and 2 people (who were there when I arrived) still waiting to be helped still watching the movie in the lobby. WELCOMING: After reading how much tattoo artists don't like tattooing "newbies", I was nervous about how I would be treated. To make matters worse, I wanted it on my feet. A friend told me about Zack @ Sparrows, though, who was GREAT.  He never once made me feel like I was an idiot for getting my first tattoo on my feet.  Organizing the appointment and sending over my design was super-easy and he responded within a couple of hours every time I sent him a message.  CLEAN: super clean shop.WORTH the $$$: This isn't the cheapest place.  I wouldn't say they are robbing you or anything, but after I spoke to my friend, we both averaged $200/hr.  Worth it, worth it, worth it.  I never felt rushed and the work he did was perfect.  My design was mainly straight, long lines, and they are perfect, even on my bony feet!If your tat is under $600, remember to bring cash.  They have an ATM onsite but you can only take out $200 at a time.  They do accept cards @ the front for supplies, though. Had a great experience at Sparrows! I had an ex boyfriend's name tattooed on my wrist that I'd been wanting to get covered up. I highly recommend Cody Dresser. I contacted him through his email from his Instagram. He was very responsive and open. I explained to him what I was wanting and he listened. When I came in and met him, he was a very cool, down to earth, laid back guy. Very easy going and made me feel very comfortable, I was pretty nervous because the only tattoo I had was the one I was getting covered up. He came up with this rose design and added his own twist to it. He is a great artist. He was very quick and precise and made sure he did a good job and that I was comfortable. Easily the nicest tattoo shop I've been to, and well worth the drive (I live in Plano). I found Cody through Instagram and emailed him through his website to set up an appointment. He got back to me quickly, and not only had a drawing, but set up an appointment within a week. He was great about communication, and never complained about me texting him with questions (he even sent a text the morning of saying he was excited about the appointment). I got to the shop 30 minutes prior to my appointment, and he came out immediately with the design so that I could approve. The drawing was PERFECT and I couldn't have asked for better. Our session was about 3.5 hours long. He made sure to check that I was okay multiple times, played one of my favorite shows on Netflix as a distraction, and schooled me on Drake and other rappers (that I now love). The tattoo was practically painless (compared to others I've gotten). He made the experience fun, and relaxing, and I'm left with a one of a kind piece of artwork on my arm.
