My experience here with Mike Flores was incredible. I've been in more than enough shops that we're uninviting and that didn't seem clean or welcoming, and this shop was the opposite. It was friendly, clean and everyone seemed happy to see the clients. He took some time to draw up some black line work flowers and seemed excited to work on them and even when I decided to change something slightly last minute. Joe Melin may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of Faces in the Dark, but it should be. From the moment I walked in Joe was courteous, knowledgeable and listened to what exactly I wanted. I was amazed that his first design was exactly what I wanted. I can't tell you how much I love my tattoo. This was a cover up which completely got rid of my previous mistake and is something I am proud to have as a permanent art piece. I had never before sat for seven hours, but Joe talked me through it and was generous enough with his time to stay an extra two hours after closing, so that I got a beautiful art piece. I consulted with an artist and was iffy in my decision, but we hadn’t discussed a date or anything. I got back to them maybe two days later with a different design (an easier one) and a day we had discussed was open for an appointment. They didn’t respond and ghosted me. I was willing to pay and schedule right then and there too. A neighboring artist said the shop artists there are pretty stuck up. I guess with that talent you can be? I got my tattoo yesterday from Tye at Faces In The Dark Tattoo and I have zero complaints. The staff is super cool and friendly and make you feel like you are welcome. Tye did an amazing job on my tattoo and is a fun guy to hang out with during the process. The other artists in the shop would conversate and make you feel at home as well. The shop is kept very clean and sanitary. They have great music playing and tv shows on the walls to help keep your mind off the pain if you so choose. They offer soda and water to drink and have a comfortable lounge area to sit in. After getting my tattoo here, I can't imagine getting one anywhere else. Faces in the dark tattoos...... These guys are absolutely amazing! Walking in the first time I automatically felt like I belonged there. Becca welcomed us in we quickly felt like we belonged there. Tye Harris is wonderful he did a black and grey rose with music notes on my shoulder it is just beautiful. He's nothing short of fabulous. He most definitely knows what he is doing! He sings to the music, crack jokes every now and then, the workshop is always clean. The second time I went in Juan Perez another amazing gentlemen I asked for flowers he drew me something my style and it was perfect he knows what he is doing as well talkative,funny,singing I had another tattoo that I got from another tattoo shop (Platinum Ink)but after looking at if for a couple of weeks I didn't rally like it so I went back to Faces in the dark Juan Perez a wonderful job covering up my feather without a problem! Mike Flores another guy who does tats there is great as well. I watch him at times and I have seen some of his work absolutely amazing! I am a customer service freak they go above and beyond excellent customer service. I highly recommend this place for all of your tattoo needs.I know if you go your going to feel like family the instant you go inside. Prices are reasonable. This is one of the most professional and cleanest shops I've gotten tattooed at. I've been working on getting a full sleeve here by artist Andrès Acosta. He's amazing, but the entire crew here has a great vibe and I was very comfortable for all of my three, four hour sessions! Would highly recommend getting your tattoo work done here definitely worth the wait and price, but it is kind of in the middle of nowhere, Kyle TX which is only 30 minutes south of downtown Austin! We visited Faces in the Dark on the 01/26/2017 at the recommendation of a coworker. We asked Mike refresh the ink my wife's tat. Aside from color preference, my wife gave him free reign to rework it and the transformation was nothing short of spectacular. We could not be happier with it.
