My bf & I went there yesterday for the first time and we had a great experience. We decided to come here based off of reviews. Jared told my bf he didn't recommend what he wanted to get because over time it would eventually blend together and it would look bad, we really appreciated his honesty, someone else would've done it just to take the money. With me, he saw it once on my phone, went to go draw it and it was sized perfectly, it honestly exceeded my expectations. I was so happy with how it all came out! You get what you pay for. I researched and followed Ken's artwork online for awhile before deciding to make an appointment. My appt was booked 3 months out but I did not care because that just means he is great at what he does. It was definitely worth the wait. My tattoo is even better than I envisioned and I recommend Ken to everyone I know. He is very detailed with his artwork and coloring too. That's a great artist right there. It's hard to find one who knows how to shade and color correctly. He even gave me tips on what products to use for aftercare. This is my go to tattoo artist if I decide I need anymore. Read Less

Issues with scheduling. Called and was told I could come in whenever to get a tattoo. Then when I showed up was told I had to make an appointment. No price estimate given. The environment is unprofessional and I was brushed off several times. It seems like no employees were versed in customer service, sometimes actively avoid eye contact when I approached them with a question. I sent my info in a few days before, as requested. However, when I showed up for the appointment, the artist asked me two questions before printing off a reference photo I sent and using that as the tattoo. He did not fully give me information on what it would look like, resulting in a product I did not like. The tattoo itself lacks a focal point and has rudimentary errors such as a line that is not straight and not leaving enough space during line work. All around, a negligible amount of time spent in prep and figuring out what I wanted. In hindsight, there were a few red flags, but if you're an unassertive person like me (and afraid to lose a $50 deposit) I would suggest staying away. I will never use Erik Nikstad from Hitlist ink again . Did a half ass tattoo, claimed I didn't take care of my tattoo properly. I have several tattoos and never has any of them healed up like this one . He had to don touch up and still didn't do a good job , kept my $50 deposit that was suppose to come off the total of the finished tattoo . When in person to discuss this and he refused to refund my deposit. The. hitlist tattoo blocked me so I cant leave a review on their Facebook page .  Very professional Read Less

Got a tattoo in February and it took forever to heal (no big deal). I just got a chance to go back to get it touched up because the black lines are not complete and look like a noob did it. Guy doesn't work there anymore. They don't honor work that comes out of this place. Every tat enthusiast knows artists typically don't stay in one place too long. All I got was "yeah, he didn't like to do small tattoos (mine isn't tiny) and it'll cost me $60 if I want some other guy to fix it. Such bs! I'm gonna tell everyone where I got this sub par tattoo! Somehow, my review was deleted (shocker!). I note that the tattoo l requested, the heart with the semicolon (NOT from Pinterest, Ronnie) remains as a photo - indicating that it may have been performed by one of their artists.  Sadly, that was nowhere near the case.I was specific in my request for an artist prepared to do several small tattoos.  The main one was the heart (signifying self love) with a semi colon (signifying your story isn't over yet). The young man, new from Vegas, was unaware what it stood for, but claimed he could do it on my wrist - permanently, for all the world to see.  What l walked out with was a crooked heart with jagged lines and a COLON (the grammatical symbol, not the organ).  It was beyond hideous or repair.  He also put a word on my other wrist with all the letters tilted and different sizes and a bass clef that bled into more of an apple.  I will say, in the interest of fairness, he colored in some old tats very nicely, so he was clearly adept at tracingFrom screen shot provided by Brittany B. of a Ron Byers who works here you are apparently some sort of troll if you give a one star review.  He considers himself quite the intellect, who can school you in your tattoo choice, I presume he would tell you your child is too ugly to get on your arm permanently.  He also has more prerequisites for his scheduling than any specialist I've ever used, so l assume is far more educated than my oncologist or neurosurgeon.Referring to your client as chubby or stupid is not only unprofessional, but provides for an unsafe environment for anyone frequenting this business.  I would most certainly not want this man's physical assessment of me splashed over a public social media page, and that type of bravado warrants a look by the BBB.I cannot believe that my review of the bad work and bad result were removed.  Busineses must take the good with the bad and learn from it. I've been to several other studios over the years and have  had a variety of experiences - some good, some bad - so with all the shops in Houston why I do I use Hitlist? Simple - Ronnie has always done exactly what he said he was going to do and has translated my ideas into tangible art that I wear proudly - he's also fixed and tweaked pieces done by other artists and even the minor changes that he did improved them all the way around.The facility is always spotless and clean and the owners (Ken and Megan) are great people. Here are some screen shots of one of their artist's tattoo policy. He is obviously referring to another client who left him a one star review. Very weak attitude, reflects pretty poorly on the shop."I have chosen to work slightly longer days so that I may work one less day a week. I do this so that I can spend more time, doing things I love, with my beautiful daughter. This makes my appointment calendar a little more jammed and the wait is a little longer. Typically about a 2 month wait. Which isn't bad and if you can't wait that long the tattoo is probably a bad decision anyhow. Appointments will only be booked with a $100 revolving deposit until that specific project is completed. If you need to reschedule your appointment and do not provide me with a minimum of 72 hours to replace it, your deposit is expired. To reschedule at that point will require a new deposit. If you give me zero heads up that you are not showing up for your appointment. Unless you have a bulletproof reason for ruining my day financially, our relationship ceases to exist. There will be no more leniancy in this matter.If you walk in to the shop an hour or 2 before close and want a tattoo that will chronologically fit within my night, I'll be happy to do a good job of it and take your money. However, if the first thing you show me is Pinterest or a screenshot from Pinterest, you need to have thick skin. I will haze you for being a trendy, sheepish, no creativity having, no individuality having, ass clown. If you want a symbol and don't know the meaning of it, I will educate you on your ignorance. If you are having a "crazy" night out away from your husband and need 5 of your friends to accompany you for your semi-colon tattoo that you're ironically happy and excited to get, you should probably kill yourself. I will offend 4 of your friends for not allowing them to be in an already small room and fat shaming them under my breath. I will indirectly offend you and the friend joining you because you can't think freely or rationally and your other friends want you to jump on the "hate Ronnie" bandwagon. But you'll wait until after the super simple tattoo that you're going to be super picky about because you think you're artistic, is over.  Then you'll hate me behind your sausage fingers and a keyboard in the form of an online review, like a real adult. Megan is fantastic!!!! I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday by getting my nipples pierced. It took maybe 5 minutes. She put me at ease and was super courteous and professional. I've been here only once but the artist (forgot his name, sorry) did a great job. The price was comparable to other studios in the area. The place is very clean, and all very professional. I made an appointment and was given an estimate of it taking about 1 hour. He started on time and was done in about 45 minutes. The employees and the atmosphere, overall, was fabulous. I got a simple word tattooed to the side of my foot and my artist made sure that I was fine the whole time as well as made the word "Queen" look amazing. Last night my husband went to get a finger tattoo and the lady that works there refused to do his tattoo making an excuse that the finger will bleed. Mind you I got my finger tatted already and my husband is fully tatted. The real reason was because he was a big tall black guy' not knowing my husband plays in the NFL!!!!! Megan did my second Daith piercing and I was a tad freaked getting it done bc I had a horrible experience at another shop the first time I got it done. My experience at Hitlist Ink Studio exceeds my expectations.   They were recommended by a friend, and I had seen her tattoos so I knew that Ken Kahler does excellent work.  My tattoo took a little over three and a half hours, and I am very happy with how my artwork turned out.Right from the beginning, the professionalism of the studio is impeccable.  They are friendly and polite, but down to business.  You will need proper identification for tattoos or piercing, and they are going to make a photo copy for their records.  This is very subtle, but very professional in my opinion.  Might be required by state, but I can't say that I remember other locations are this organized.  You will most likely need an appointment.   Unless you are lucky, or looking to get something done that is quick, you will need an appointment.   There is a deposit for an appointment, so you will need to go in to schedule your appointment.  The lead time for the appointment is anywhere from two weeks to two months, depending on who you are wanting to schedule with.  Pricing is on par with market.   They will give you a rough estimate, and considering the workmanship its probably a good deal.   The studio is extremely clean with separated salons for privacy.  Even the waiting room up front is spotless.  While I was getting my tattoo, I noticed that they cleaned off the front counter between every visitor (might be an OCD, but it is a good OCD).  They also remain above bar with all the normal stuff too (e.g. - new needles, lots of new gloves, clean wipes, proper sharps disposal, etc.)    Artistry & Workmanship are excellent.  I did not have an exact image of what I wanted, but I had a mix of different things with conceptual ideals, admittedly all over the place.   Ken was able to bring them all together and draw up a template that was exactly what I wanted.   I admit I had a lot of anxiety about if he was going to be able to bring it all together, since it was going to have to be drawn.  He did an excellent job.  Additionally, I have healed faster with this tattoo than any of my others.   I also didn't seem to have as much bleeding with this, but I don't know if it was his technique or other reason.   The outline and shading are excellent.  Other tattoo artists seemed like they did excellent work as well.   They would often bring their customer into the room to show off their new ink, so I got to see the other artists work too.   For the most part, the other artists did excellent work as well, just often very different styles.  This is probably due to the customer requests.In summary, I loved the work Ken did.  His staff is professional, his studio is clean.   I will definitely be returning to replace my aging old artwork with a new back piece as well as some shoulder art I am craving.
