Superb artists that are genuine all around. They really know their craft. Visited from Austin and just did a walk-in with 3 gals. They accommodated and everything turned out perfect! I booked a consultation with Adrian at Assassin Tattoo because I really liked his work on his Instagram. He was quick to respond via e-mail and very thorough. I sent him some inspiration pictures and when I came in for my consultation he sketched exactly what I wanted the first time. He even brought up design elements that I hadn't mentioned, but really spoke to me. When I came in for the tattoo, he had come up with an awesome design. It took 6 hours because of the detail he was putting into it. From my conversation with him, I would say he's a very friendly, motivated, and a talented young artist with a lot of artistic integrity. Can't recommend these guys enough! I got my first tattoo here fall 2017 by xiaomeng and then two more a few months ago by Michael (walk-ins both times). Both artists are absolutely amazing and have great line work. I think at the time, Michael was still an apprentice/in training but his work is GREAT. He was able to make small adjustments to the references I brought in to better fit my vision and he was very meticulous in his work. I don't think I'm going to get anymore tattoos from here on out but I'm definitely recommending assassins tattoo to al my friends who are! I got my first tattoo yesterday and I LOVE it! Xian did a great job. First off, Assassin Tattoo is probably the best looking tattoo shop I've ever been too. Super cool place. Second, my tattoo came out amazing. I gave Xian a pretty bad sketch of what I was thinking I wanted, and he made it look amazing! It took about three hours, and it hurt a lot less than I thought it would. Had a tattoo done by White. The words blurred together, and the font is not even. I went back to have it touched up, and everyone had the craziest looks on their faces (not confident in touching it up). The girl with the tattoo and dreads said that White couldn't fix it (in his face). When I asked her if they weren't confident in the fix, just tell me. She said "were aren't, that's why I'm telling you. I will never go again. Be aware of who you work with. They will take you, but will not be helpful is something is wrong. Best tattoo shop in town!! from the decor to the ambience especially the artists. White is the man. The first time I went to him I got two tats on my forearm(cuz if its gonna hurt let it hurt all at once). I immediately fell in love with them. He is so talented and he focused on the details; it came out better than the original design I gave him. I got 3 more tats from him after that and they all look AMAZING especially the last one. Everybody who saw it was asking from whom I got it done. He's not the kind of artist you just bring a design and he'll just ink it. I'm 100% impressed and satisfied by the amazing craftsmanship that my tattoo artist, Michael, displayed. I went in the fall of 2017 (almost a year ago, I know. I've been meaning to post this but never got around to it) to get my second tattoo. I gave them two slips of paper that contained words that my parents had handwritten. They combined the two, then gave me size options by printing it out on a piece of paper. I got to shift it around my body to find where I felt it fit best, and the other artists in the building also gave me suggestions. Michael did an amazing job on the tattoo. Such detail went into his work, and I felt him chance the needle tip size several times. It looks like a carbon copy of my parents handwriting, that I can now have forever. Don't go if you're black. They'll overcharge, and try to talk you into a completely different tattoo that only suits the artist, not you, the person paying and not to mention who will have the tattoo forever. All I wanted was a simple black CLOSED rose, very small and he told me up front $150. Then, proceeded to show me only open roses and other flowers, not roses. I showed him a picture of a closed rose, and said that's how I want it, I don't want it open. After going back and forth I eventually just settled for what HE wanted to draw. However, after I agreed I was waiting for about 20 minutes for him to come back and do the tattoo. Eventually I just walked out, and found him along with the other artists outside smoking. I came here for my very first tattoo after doing a lot of research online. Honestly, if you are African American or have a darker skin tone go else where. They weren't accommodating to me at all and even commented that my skin was too dark for the tattoo I wanted. It's sad there that is still a bad stigma surrounding dark skin and tattoos. Xiaomeng is amazing! I contacted her about getting a tattoo of a geometric design I drew up and asked if she could help me improve it. She drew up it a piece that completely blew me away! When I went to the parlor to get my tattoo, she was very sweet and very concentrated on tattooing me. It came out EXACTLY was the design she drew and only took about 2 hours. I walked in, I didn't have an appointment so I sat in the lobby to wait for assistance. A tattooist came in and asked me straight up what I wanted lol then I told him the ink I wanted. After signing some papers and explaining further what i wanted i wait about 15 minutes until my session. When my session started I was nervous as shit lol because these were my first tattoos. As soon as it started though I was the happiest mofo alive. The artist was real calm and professional and gave me exactly what I wanted. A lil language barrier but communication is doable. Got my first tattoo last night and I'm absolutely in love! Had to travel almost an hour in Houston traffic but it was totally worth it to have the pleasure of working with Xiaomeng. I emailed her beforehand to let her know I wanted to come in for a consultation and when I showed her my ideas, she offered to do it right then and there. She worked for about 20 minutes and created a design that I'm absolutely in love with. She was both swift and incredibly detail oriented. I absolutely love her work and I will definitely be coming back to her! The entire staff was very friendly and another artist (I forgot her name but she was amazing) gave me some straightforward instructions on aftercare procedures. My tattoo ended up costing $80 but I think it was absolutely worth it for the clean and safe experience, welcoming environment, and incredibly talented artists. I would say the only real problem is parking for the area is a little complicated and I don't see any other reviews that mention it. But it's a small sacrifice for an incredible tattoo. Read Less

The tattoo artists are quite young, but unfortunately inexperienced. The artist I worked with would not listen to what I wanted-- he kept saying what I wanted was wrong and too hard to do. All I wanted was a simple straight line around my wrist with a silhouette. He said this would be too hard. One of his associates told him it could be done and said it would cost $100. $50 for the silhouettes and $50 FOR A LINE AROUND MY WRIST. I decided not to get the line because the artist was adamant about it being too hard. It's unfortunate if an artist is working in a tattoo shop and he thinks a STRAIGHT LINE is too hard to do. I don't think I'll be coming back. They did alright but the joint is unorganized and needs more experience. Read Less

Whoever answers the phone at this place is beyond incompetent. I drove here not once but TWICE and left dissatisfied/upset. AND I live about 25 minutes away. First time I called I asked if they did piercings and what was the cost and he told me yes and the price so I said ok I will be there in about 30 minutes. Drove aaaalllll the way over there only to find out the piercer wasn't in that day -__-I know that it's proper receptionist etiquette to give that kind of information over the phone because the next place I called said yes we do piercings but the piercer is not in today or tomorrow, he's here Tuesday-Saturday from this time to this time. So not only did she inform me immediately that he was not working that day but also the days he is working AND the times. Beautiful.Still I wanted to try assassin because I liked their prices, very reasonable. So the next time I called before going in just to confirm IS YOUR PIERCER IN TODAY, yes, ok perfect does she do dermal piercings. Yes. Ok thanks! So again I drive allll the way over there and when I get there, the piercer was there which was great BUT she told me they don't have the tools to do the piercing and that they would retrieve them in 1.5 months. Wow, again just wasted my time. The person answering the phone should freakin LISTEN to what the person is saying and communicate with them and not just answer yes, no. So dumb. My wife and I had both of our tattoos done here. As an artist myself, I designed both of our tattoos, but I always had trouble finding a place that would actually tattoo them on us, as the designs were very complicated. Other places would insist that I change the design under the pretense that they just wouldn't look good on skin. But I suspected they just lacked the skill to do it. Hiro at Assassin, however, took a look and assured me that no changes needed to be made and that it was very doable. I showed up with a picture of what I had in mind and Peng (the owner) sat down with me to discuss the tattoo. He was very honest about his concerns for the style of tattoo I wanted, but recommended I speak with Julia. She was great! She showed me some previous work she had done that was somewhat similar to what I wanted and spent about 40 minutes mapping out the design on my arm. I got two scriptures Romans 12:12 and Ephesians 2:8 done in less than 1 1/2 hours. They were super professional, typing out fonts and different sizes to give me options. Trust me, Peng is definitely the best tattoo artist in the city. If you don't trust me, go ahead and take a look at the pictures of my new cover up tattoo I posted along with my words before reading this. Although my old tattoo was done by an artist who was highly recommended by many people, his work disappointed me tons. He didn't construct it the way I wanted. For example, the condor ridiculously looks like a duck... Anyway, I started to think getting a cover up tattoo. BUT it's not an easy process - because of his heavy hand and the unique shape of my old tattoo, it's very hard to have a well designed and constructed cover up tattoo. And I almost gave up on the idea until I met Peng. Peng spent 2 weeks with me to discuss about what I want for my cover up tattoo and what he can do. You can clearly feel that he cares about his customer and every piece of his work. He wants you to keep his work for rest of your life and be proud of it, which he definitely did for me.My cover up tattoo was done in 2 times, with 2 weeks of healing in between. The healing process is not disturbing as many may expect (and I'm still healing), I didn't experience much bleeding, pain or scab, but I followed closely to the detailed after-care instructions given. However, since Peng tattoos fast, drawing the outline, applying the color and detailing were painful. I'm a very pain resistant person, but still I was sweating. But you can save money, as Peng jokes all the time LOL. Now let's have a quick look at cost. Yes, Peng is expensive, but you get the best art on your skin. Complexity of design, color and shading of design, the speed at which your artist works all affect the cost of your tattoo. If you can stand with the pain (since Peng tattoos fast), the cost totally worths it. If you want a large tattoo and you worry about the cost may be out of your range, you can talk to Peng, he may be able to give you a fixed price and then you can compare wether his hourly rate or fixed price works better for you. They reviewed my tattoo design and according to it they referred me to the artist that most fitted my style. I've wanted a Chinese tattoo for as long as I can remember, but I was determined to wait for a qualified Chinese artist to do so for me. Finally, Peng opened up Assassin Tattoo in midtown, and I knew I had to get it done immediately.Peng responded to my email right away and got me started the following week. It was my first tattoo and I was insanely nervous, but I knew I was in the hands of a pro. This guy owned the first tattoo shop in Beijing, owns the Chinese equivalent of the tattoo.com website domain, and has won awards internationally for his work. He's put out many books on Chinese style tattoo and art, and has mentored many other talented artists throughout the world. He also has TianXin as his qualified right hand man, and several extremely talented and multi-talented apprentices working with him. The interior of the shop is beautifully authentic and I didn't have any doubts about sanitation or professionalism of this shop. As I waited for my turn, I sipped on some imported Chinese tea that was brewed traditionally by his assistants. Peng patiently worked with me and talked with me about my design, and corrected me on some of my ideas (because I wanted an authentic traditional Chinese work done), and there were several rules that had to be abided by, and I knew that he wouldn't steer me wrong. He helped me add some things to my initial idea to promote good luck and welfare.  He charges by the piece, and for the result and the complexity of the piece, it was definitely worth the price. Peng is so skilled and efficient that he completed my tattoo in about 4 hours what would take other artists several visits to complete. If you want to have TRULY AUTHENTIC Chinese artwork tattooed, then you must come here. Anything else you'd like them to tattoo will also be replicated flawlessly, and potentially for a better price and higher quality work. This is a Chinese tattoo parlor shop run by Chinese men and women; although they speak English, if you have a very complicated idea and no photo to explain your idea, I would recommend bringing a Chinese speaker to help relay the information accurately to what you want. I am happy and honored to have such a work of art on my body every day. I already can't wait for my next piece with these guys.
