Holdfast has always been my go to shop in Dallas. I've gotten 2 tattoos and 2 piercings with them, all great times. Until today.I just needed new *jewelry* for my belly piercing, simple task. As soon as i lay on the table, Jeremy basically starts hating on everything i am. I live in Austin now, he lets me know many, many times how much he hates Austin and the people that live there. Then i said, "this is like literally an earring" (Because it LITERALLY was an earring for my ear that i put in my belly button) and he starts telling me stories about girls that use the word 'like' and how much it turns him off. I walked out of the salon cheering on the girls after me who were getting their nipples pierced, when really I should have been directing them down the street because I am never going back for any piercing or tattoo needs ever again. That's a bold statement ** I am never going back if Jeremy is working that day. I have been in many shops and gotten along with all staff members and never felt uncomfortable. Maybe he just had a shit day, but he is LITERALLY the exact type of person I dread working with in tattoo salons. I had been searching around the Dallas area for a place to get my nose pierced. My girlfriend had a tattoo done there a while ago and she recommended the shop. I cannot day enough good things about JEREMY! he has been piercing for over 20 years and is very accommodating if tour nervous. I hate needles. And he was super sympathetic to that. Close my eyes. Jeremey pierced my nose and tragus, which did not hurt at all. His experience shows and it helps put me at ease knowing my piercing will be just what I want! got my septum pierced here and it was a great experience. this was my second time getting it pierced since the first place i went to did it poorly. anyways, he did such a good job and explained everything including after care and provided with some sea salt to clean it. definitely recommend. and septum was only like $35 i think which is a great deal! side note: they use like a small horse shoe jewelry that is barely visible it's great to flip-up and hide it but it you can only really see the ball screws. I went a couple of days back to remove one of piercings my body was not a fan of. Which by the way did not get there. The staff is really friendly! I unfortunately did not get his name but it was the piercer with the long hair, I know great description, but he is very friendly and professional. He removed my piercing without charge. Once I'm over this trauma I will definitely go back to him and get a new piercing! Also their selection of jewelry is pretty cool. I came here with my siblings to get tattoos. We didn't have an appointment but they were able to accommodate us! It was a great experience. The shop is clean, and all items were sterilized appropriately before us, and in between each sitting. The artist was gentle on our first timers and knowledgeable. He talked us through the placements and sizes of each of our tattoos. He worked with us to make sure this permanent experience was worth it.... and it totally was! I highly recommend this shop. I got 3 new piercings on my ear yesterday by Matt Mayfield and he did an amazing job!! I came in thinking I knew what I wanted (I saw a set of 3 piercings he did for someone else on Instagram and really liked it), but when I got there he gave me his opinion on what would look cool and unique based on the shape of my ear and it ended up looking so much better than what I originally wanted. He was super quick and patient with me while I tried to decide not only where I wanted the piercings but the jewelry I wanted as well. He also changed out my rook piercing for me too. If you're wanting a piercing, Jeremy is a GOD-SEND. He is the top four things you want from someone who's sticking metal in you--super nice, very clean, extremely good at what he does, and knows what he's talking about. I got my nose pierced somewhere else and accidentally pulled the stud out the next day--it wouldn't go back in, it was super swollen and irritated, and I was gagging from the pain every time I tried. I ran to Hold Fast because I'd gotten a piercing there before and I knew Jeremy would give a crap. Walked in with exactly what I wanted for the inside of my finger and told him this was in honor of my brother. The 'artist' printed it out and told me it would look like shit. I kept trying to find other ways for it to work saying he could make it smaller and I would be happy since it was only 3 words and he just said no. After telling him I didn't care what he thought over and over and his arguing back and forth I finally stopped trying which was dumb on my end. Instead of the small 3 worded tattoo i brought in, he took out a pen and drew a single letter on my finger that was crooked af and said this will work. I told him that wasn't what I wanted at all and I didn't think it was straight. He said it would be once tattooed, it was just free hand (because that makes sense). At that point, I should have walked out but was like f**k as it I've waited for over an hour and arguing for another so I got it.  Now, I'm left with single letter that Is crooked and half faded out within months because he tattooed so poorly. Went to another shop to have it fixed and their first reaction was 'Man, this guy really did a number on you. Could they have gone any deeper into your skin'. Yeah, I'm aware. They're also always at stans bar right across the street harassing people if you don't agree with a single opinion or don't have the same 'look' as them. Biggest assholes I've ever encountered. Haven't had any tattoo experience here but it is an awesome piercing studio!! I had never heard of it until my friend said she had gotten two of her 7 piercings there and I went with her when she decided she was going in for her septum. The piercer she uses is Jeremy and he was precise, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. The whole process took at most 30 minutes including the paperwork and cost her overall $35 without tip. (She got the standard silver jewelry.) I came here recently to take my 4 year old to get her ears pierced. What kind of mother takes her child to a tattoo parlor for piercing? Well, the kind who does her research and would rather entrust this procedure to an experienced pro who uses proper, sterilized equipment rather than a teenager with 2 weeks training at the mall! We were walk-ins and obviously not the typical clientele but they worked us in right away and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I got my first tattoo there done by jeff brown. I recommended him to a few people, and eventually 5 of them got thier first tattoos there as well, and no one has had a bad experience. Everyone is really nice, patient and willing to make you happy. not to mention everyone there are excellent artists. the only complaint I have is when i've gone there to get jewelry for my piercings. 2 out of 3 times it was not a good experience (fake metal one time that turned my ears to mush, and one time the girl getting my jewelry was just lazy and didn't want to help me) but i've known a few people that have gotten pierced there and they didn't have any negative experiences.
