Went in and was introduced to Dave. Dave and I, talked about what I wanted which was a sunflower on my wrist and he understood right away without having to go into a huge explanation. I let Dave do what he wanted with color as he is the artist and i like seeing how creative an artist can get. I was very impressed by how little pain I felt for about 85% of the tattoo. I ended up getting a bigger tattoo than what I originally planned for but it allowed for more colors, depth and a more realistic look. Yesterday was my 21st Birthday and I wanted to get my septum pierced. The front counter girl was so nice to me her name was Chelsea got all my paper work done so quickly. Came in for my first tattoo during memorial weekend and my artist was Fabian. He took his time to sketch out the design I wanted and even made it look better than the picture I showed him. Super clean look. I've gotten soooo many compliments on it and asking who the artist is but unfortunately I live in Michigan! Dom was amazing!When I decided to get a chest piece(shoulder to shoulder down to my sternum) I put out a Facebook recommendations post. Of course there was a lot of artist tagged in the post but one artist was tagged 3 times! That was dom. So I reached out and the process was smooth after that. We even had toMake some last minute changes(we both agreed to make changes I'm not a diva) and she was so cool about it.After everything was said and done I'm so happy with my piece and I constantly get compliments. People constantly pull up my shirt and examine my tattoo. Which for some is an annoyance but for me I take it as a compliment to not only myself but my artist,I would recommend dom and I have. A spontaneous decision with a friend turned into a fantastic experience. Russ is a spectacular guy. EXTREMELY knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. So fun to talk to and deal with. I went in to get another dermal piercing. I've had many piercings in my ears, my septum, my belly button, my neck, my sternum you name it. Russell did a fantastic job. First he did my nipples pain free. I wanted hoops but we had to do the larger bars. He did it so quickly I didn't even mind that he had to do one then the other. They look fantastic. Then I decided I wanted a surface piercing on my face near my ear. Russell did it quickly and cleanly. He was patient with my friend and I and easily spent 2 hours with us for 4 piercings. We asked lots of questions and he made us both feel like there was no one quite as knowledgeable as him. He doesn't do tats which is too bad cause I was ready to give him all my money. Came here with some friends who wanted some tattoos and piercings. I'd already been wanting my septum pierced for quite awhile, and decided to finally get it done. Russell was my piercer and he did an amazing job at explaining everything step-by-step during the piercing process, as well as explaining the after-care. He also made sure to let us know everything was being properly sterilized in the autoclave. My friends and I just left this parlor and had a great experience. Russel educated us on proper piercing and cleaning and gave my friend a great septum piercing with high quality jewelry. He also took a look at my friend's nipple piercings which were done poorly at creative tattoos and knew exactly why she was having problems with them. I went in to see Russell today for my first piercings ever. I've put them off my entire life after watching my mom and sister have infected ears from just about every metal other than gold and sterling.After being Instagram envious of all of the cute constellation piercings taking off right now, I wanted more than just lobes done. I figured if the experience sucked I would never have the guts to come back, so I asked for all the piercings I wanted in one setting: double lobes and one helix.I traveled an hour from South Fort Worth to see him after finding his portfolio on Instagram, and Russell was very thankful and gave me a nice bundle deal since I was getting 5 piercings in one go for my first time. He also explained how his jewelry is safer and better than most everything else that is out there, which I appreciated after having family allergy concerns.I am a typically terrified of needles which is also why I put off piercing anything forever. My helix piercing was first and was so quick and painless I literally said, "That's it?" and laughed. It felt like I was tapped with a toothpick.The lobe piercings hurt a bit more (which are normally the easiest piercings to get), but nothing crazy. No panic, no tears. Very fast with perfect placement.Honestly, the most stressful part of the entire experience was picking out my favorite jewelry :)The facilities were clean with lots of natural light. I would never go anywhere else to get a tattoo! Best in  the business, super friendly staff and amazing artist all around. I have a Salvador Dali portait sleeve by (billy jack) and everyone constantly grabs my arm to check it out. No to mention they use dermal covers to protect your fresh tattoo, so you are not having to baby it all day while it is healing. Russell is BY FAR the best piercer I have ever had, and I have had many different piercings done by different people all throughout Texas. He surpassed all of them by a long shot both times I have been in! He's extremely informative and helped fix what the last piercer did completely wrong. I love how passionate he is about his work and that I can go in with a general idea of what I want done, and he will help me tweak it to something even more awesome, or I can give him free reign to do what he wants, and it turns out badass! Russell is by far the best piercer I've ever been lucky enough to get pierced by!I came in to get my tongue done; my friend got double lobe piercings on one ear and triple lobes on her other. While I was filling out some paperwork, Russ talked to me about possible ways tongue piercings could go wrong. He was...definitely 100% honest. It actually kind of scared me at first, but in hindsight, I'm glad that he was so forthcoming about everything at the first opportunity b/c it shows a commitment to clients' education and consent. I think that I have a pretty good pain tolerance, but there's something about tongue piercings that freak me out--and I guess rightly so; it didn't hurt, but right after my piercing, I got super disoriented and light-headed. Russ was so incredibly patient with me while I stayed in the chair and laid down; he made me feel like I wasn't just being a baby. Actually, it didn't feel at all like any staff member was trying to rush us to get clients in and out. Russ' piercing apprentice--I didn't get his name--even got me water while Russ explained my reaction to be because of the tongue's vasculature and its function as a muscular organ. Even while piercing my friend's double/triple lobes, Russ noticed some drift on her cartilage piercing (previously done somewhere else) and offered to switch out the jewelry to a shorter bar to minimize further movement. B/c of that, Russ went out of his way to talk us through a subtlety regarding piercings and piercing aftercare that my friend and I never really considered or had explained to us.Throughout the entire experience, Russ was personable, thorough, considerate, and extremely educated in his field! He is also meticulous with his hygienic practices (I noticed that he changed gloves multiple times not only while piercing myself, but also my friend). No one at this shop seems to care about the clients. Messed up nose piercing twice. I don't know why I even went back a second time to order new jewelry after finding out the person who pierced me wasn't even a piercer. The process was a bloody nightmare.. Got my daith pierced by Shyann 11 days ago.  It's my 9th piercing overall.  Didn't hurt at all as some people have said but I also have a high pain threshold and tolerance.  I didn't get to choose the jewelry, and considering how long it takes to heal and my average rate of landing in an MRI or hospital each year, I would have preferred a non-ferrous metal - titanium would have been nice, and a CBR for easier cleaning maybe, as opposed to a 316L SS curved barbell.  At 16G it's SO TINY.  The parlor itself wasn't the cleanest, but that's fine as the equipment was kosher, and she spent quite a while making sure to mark my ear up properly to get it even and in deep enough.  I think the weirdest part of the experience was how few piercings - visible at least - she had herself.  Loads of ink, but not many visible piercings.  Also, piercings here as with a lot of places in DFW have way inflated prices compared to other places in urban areas around the country -  I've noticed the same with tats.  TIP: Save yourself some money and hit an ATM beforehand as there is a service charge when not paying cash. Definitely, recommend AE for your Piercing needs. I've had two piercings redone here after taking them out for different reasons. The first was a belly button piercing several years ago and the second was my nose piercing 2 days ago. The staff is all super friendly to everyone, no matter if you are a walking piece of art, or there for your first time. The facility is clean and all instruments are wrapped and re-sanitized in front of you before they are used. The jewelry is good quality and they have Titanium options if you know you have a sensitivity to other metals. Price depends on location and jewelry. For example, the nose piercings ar $40 for a silver stud, $50 for the sparkle stud, and $60 for the Titanium jewelry. A few other people have reviewed stating the the prices at Artistic Encounter are high, but I've seen several other shops (particularly in the Addison area) charging $20-$50 more for a nose piercing. My piercer walked me through the whole thing, talked be through different suggestions for where she wanted to place the piercing and why, and was patient with my squeamishness when it was time to pierce the whole and clean the surrounding area. She was never pushy with any suggestion and was totally cool with moving the dot placeholder 3 times before we actually went ahead with the needle. I got my nose done Friday and by Monday (today) it is healing really nicely! I bled quite a bit after and had a tiny blood ring around my diamond Saturday and Sunday morning. I just washed it with the gold dial they recommended and it cleaned up easy. Tip: They do charge a 9% fee for all card payments! Bring cash and you will just pay the flat fee for the piercing or tattoo. Read Less

Last year, our daughters got cartilage piercings. It was difficult to get the lady to give us information as to how to care for the ears and piercings. We got her to write it down and she wrote down two words; that was it. She also should have advised to not get two piercings in one ear (maybe too close together) as it was too much and we had to remove the earring in one ear due to trauma and repeated infections. She also didn't even notice that my daughter's ear was pouring out blood; that was probably the reason she had so many infections. You also pay up-front and they expect you to tip at that point. How can one tip before the work is done? Some friendliness would also help. Read Less

Got my first cartilage done here couple of years ago and it's the only piercing that has held for me. Came in to get my double cartilage redone from a horrible Claire's experience (I know I know shame on me), and ended up getting my first tattoo! Megan was my piercer and did great, and explained exactly how a piercing should be done and taken care. Quick, painless and easy! Aaron did my tattoo.
