Jade, the piercer, went over the type of jewelry that I said I wanted. She was very professional and private. Ok, so I just got my septum done less than 2 hours ago and so far my experience was amazing! Firstly, I specifically drove all the way to north Austin from New Braunfels just for Jade because of all the amazing reviews she has. I mean all of them are well reviewed but for some reason I feel more comfortable with a female. She was thorough with the process and the piercing went smoothly. I gotta say, this was probably one of the best customer experiences I've ever had. I was absolutely blown away. Cody was incredibly professional, informative, and made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process. I initially went in hoping to get a second opinion on an industrial, but Cody confirmed my ear was not compatible with such a piercing (something about the helix and how my scapha/scaffold sticks out). I still wanted a piercing and Cody gave me his honest opinions on what would suit the shape of my ears. I did not feel pressured to make a decision and he did not try to upsell me on anything. He told me he wanted me to do something that I would be happy with. For an anxious person like me, I truly felt at ease when I was considering my options.I ended up choosing the flat piercing. Before getting set up in the piercing room, he gave me a clear and thorough overview of the aftercare. I'm so glad I decided to visit Shaman for my nose piercing. I was nervous and probably a tad bit extra but Chris was great. I admit my piercing cost a bit more than I expected but I have no regrets. Amazing!!! Love this place and I am so happy I found it. The staff was wonderful and the process was seamless. They do follow ups with you in 4-5 weeks to check on your piercing.. I mean who does that?? Sooo i did spend WAY more than I thought, but I realized that this was apart of my spiritual journey and I have been wanting this for over 10 years. Now the process is quick and less painful than a Brazilian (lol). Super sanitary and they let you process however you want too during the piercing. The total with the tip, gold/topaz heart and piercing was $280.00. Now the actual titanium jewelry process is only $68-87. I just got a $200 dollar piece of jewelry and tipped $20. I had my ear lobes pierced here recently and love how my ears look. Kelly my piercer was very professional and took the time to explain the process. He made sure my ear piercings were even on both sides and spaced out evenly from each other. This place is not cheap. Most of my total price came from the jewelry that I picked out which was 14k rose gold (you are paying for good quality jewelry). I'm happy with my piercings and coming to Shaman I had some piece of mind going to a professional and not going to a ratchet hole in the wall and worry about whether or not everything has been sterilized correctly. I'm a piercer's / tattooer's worst nightmare. I'm so indecisive and have a hard time making decisions by myself. That being said, Chris held my had through the whole process when I came in a few days ago to get my nostril pierced. My nose is the body part that I'm the most self-conscious about, so I was hoping to get it pierced to make it more appealing to me. This was the best piercing experience I have ever had! I've seen Chris to get my septum and ears pierced, and both times had a great experience! Getting my septum pierced was honestly a breeze, and he did a great job lining everything up. He checked in with me during the piercing to make sure I was doing ok and was comfortable, too.For my ears, I had some specific posts in mind that my grandmother gave me. I brought them in and Chris helped me make a plan on where they should go given the shape and angle of my ears. Of course we didn't use the posts I brought in to do the piercing: Shaman's folks only pierce with the jewelry they have in-store (a fantastic policy). But just knowing he could see the posts and help visualise a solution for me really, really meant a lot. After doing quite a bit of research into local shops, I decided to get my nostril re-pierced as it was last done 10 years ago and not entirely well, and thusly removed. I'm so use to the little "I guess we should also offer piercings" vibe of most tattoo shops and the feeling of almost inconveniencing them by taking them up on those particular services, or pawning you off onto the apprentice. Times have changed, man.Chris S. was there this passed Saturday and was just incredibly kind, informative, and patient. I have never felt more at ease or more comfortable. He knew his stuff and was more than happy to walk through each step so there were no surprises.Shaman is not the cheapest joint in town and for good reason, this was the most professional and warm experience I've ever had getting a body modification. Quality jewelry, aftercare instructions, jewelry, and more -- and still quite reasonably priced for all that was done. With the experience I had, I will go no where else for a body mod. The expertise and specialization show in their work, behavior, and overall vibe of their store. On recommendation of a friend, checked out James here for a water color tattoo. Great communication back and forth, James was upfront with his technique and what I could expect the day I drove in. It had been 8 years since my last tattoo and some of the nerves had returned, but James was completely professional and reassuring. When my 10 year old daughter asked to get her ears repierced I started asking all my friends where to take her. She had originally gotten her ears pierced as a baby, but I made the mistake of letting her wear cheap jewelry from Claires when she was 5. Turns out she has a Nickel allergy. We let her ears close to heal. I put a simple query on Facebook. "Where is the best place to take a child to get their ears pierced?" I had 15 people respond with Pineapple at Shaman Modifi...cations in under an hour, and another 20 or so like those comments. I took my daughter for an initial consultation. Pineapple spoke directly to her about how important aftercare is, and even gave her homework to practice her aftercare before she could get her earrings. I did have a moment of doubt when I heard the price, but you get what you pay for. The quality of their jewelry and Pineapple's level of expertise made it all worth paying more. My daughter said she felt very safe, and that was the most important thing to me. She had a positive and stress free experience. They also required us to come back for a follow up check 2 weeks out. I have been considering getting a nostril piercing for as long as I can remember. Finally, I decided to just do it. My friend and I stumbled upon Shaman... Sparks flew and the rest is history! Just kidding. We researched the place and read many reviews. All of which were overwhelmingly positive. Five stars for a piercing/tattoo parlor with 200+ reviews seemed unreal. They take walk-ins and did not have a wait, which is already a huge plus in my book because I just might have lost my nerve and left.  We were warmly greeted when we arrived. Danae, who ultimately did my piercing, looked young but was extremely professional AND knowledgeable. I am a nurse and one might consider me extremely nit-picky about sterility if one were so inclined :P All the same, she explained everything she was doing and why. Before beginning, we had a very sincere discussion about after-care, what to do next, what to expect, what might be a problem, and that I can call or email at any time. I felt very confident (and relieved) that I was in great hands. And I'm certain her attention to the details was not just for my benefit. The whole procedure was quick and, for the most part, painless! I am extremely pleased with how it turned out. Some other things worthy of note: the bathroom is immaculately clean! The inside of the building is like a classy art gallery with really neat pieces of art (movies and skeletons - you'd have to see it to know what I mean). I found ShaMod on Yelp, while searching for the best septum piercing shops. I was skeptical of all the great reviews, so I decided to check out the actual website and read the 'about' page of this so called Pineapple. I left even more impressed than when I arrived at the website! For everything said here was not only true, but more interesting facts were left out! The shop was both clean & inviting. Professional atmosphere, while still having that home-village like feel. I was comfortable, in that again, all that I had read was indeed true. I arrived somewhat calm but a bit anxious for the septum piercing yesterday, but I knew I was in good hands. Which allowed for me to calm myself, before the piercing. There is nothing worse then being anxious while second guessing the chosen shop & piercer! Pineapple explained each process from sterilization (he even sterilized the gloves) to the actually piercing. I should note, septum piercing is unlike other piercings. In that, symmetry is quite the challenge & also of the up most importance for such placement of a piercing. In fact, this step was the most time consuming. Pineapple was very patient and diligent in making sure that my septum piercing was perfect! Dancehall played as Pineapple announced & performed each piercing step. Bam, it was done. The actually piercing, needle going through skin, was quite short & quick. Just as I started to feel 'pain' the retainer was in place & I was sitting upright. Clear aftercare instructions were provided & explained thoroughly.
