Brice was amazing!  I lived in Austin years ago and always wanted to go to Bijou for what I consider top notch work.  Amazing artistry. I never ended up getting a tattoo, but here we are years later and I was able to travel over 4000 miles to have my first 2 here.  Since I wasn't in town I communicated with brice via email for design ideas, etc.  He was always very prompt in response, professional and basically put me at ease for my first ink experience.  He even came in on his day off since we were only in town for one day.  I'll be back when I'm in town for sure.  Thanks again brice and Bijou! Went in for my first tattoo (a tiny one) as a walk in and had it done by Brice. I was extremely nervous and didn't know what to expect but Brice was awesome, very patient, and precise. I had decided to go with white in hopes that I would be one of the few people a tiny white tattoo would look good on. I wasn't. So, I went back and Brice gladly redid it without charge in black because he wanted me to be happy with my first tattoo. And it turned out great!Honestly, even if he hadn't redone it in black without out charging me, I would still leave a 5 star review. The staff is so nice, talented, and professional. I am impressed with the studio overall. They don't stay open late, which means they take themselves seriously and don't tattoo just anybody that decides they want at tattoo at 2am after a night of heavy drinking. It's extremely clean (which for me is a huge deal) and most importantly they are precise and want to make sure you are a happy customer. I highly recommend Bijou AND Brice to anyone looking to get a tattoo. I want a few more and will be going back as soon as I am ready and will be guiding any friends in that direction if they are looking for a great tattoo artist and experience! Megan was awesome! I was able to get in and see her and let her know exactly what I wanted and she did it to perfection. Didn't know Sizer at all, but called Bijou because another artist there had fixed a tattoo that ***censored*** tattoo shop had f'd up, and friends know Megan from triathlon. This was my third tattoo since 2008, and my largest -- took over an hour. I didn't cry, but I came close, and Sizer has a great table side manner and sense of humor. I had a great experience at bijou tattoos. We are from out of town and walked in and Megan happened to have a bit of time and drew up exactly what I wanted. She put in her creative inspiration when asked and definitely never overstepped. She made me feel comfortable and was incredibly friendly, giving me restaurant and bar references all over town. I've been here only twice, but I've only had good experiences! Caleb did both of the tattoos that I have gotten here, and did a good job. I recently got a tattoo with kinda funky placement, but he stayed enthusiastic through my nit-pickiness. He does a good job of making you feel really comfortable through the whole process, from discussing details of the design to getting the ink in your skin. I just had my side piece reworked by Megan and she was phenomenal! I have had 4 different artists work on it (I have either moved or they have since starting on my piece) so it took me a really long time to motivate myself to have it worked on again, but I am so glad I went to Bijou Studios. Bryce (sp?) was quick to call me back for scheduling and to answer questions and Megan was nice, talented, quick, and not full of sh*t. She was able to add on to my previous work and not only make it blend with the old, but enhanced the overall shape/ design and colors. I have had a love/hate relationship with this tattoo but now it is piece that I truly enjoy and am proud to wear. We have one more short sitting to blend the colors even more but if I never had it touched again I would be happy. Last night I visited Bijou Studio for the first time. It had been recommended to me by a friend who has several tattoos by Megan. After looking through the artists' portfolios, at Bijou and at a few other tattoo shops in town, I decided to make an appointment with Paul Smith. I chose him because his favorite styles lined up well with my own. He specializes in Americana and Japanese style artwork. Also, you can see a lot of fine line work in his portfolio, which gives his tattoos a delicate edge that I really like. I made my appointment over the phone and came in two weeks later. Paul took a look at the reference pictures I brought in, and a sketch of what I had in mind. He took the raw material and created a drawing that I really loved, bringing the piece to a higher level than I had imagined on my own. I'm really happy with the direction he took it. That evening he did the line work, which is already gorgeous. I'll be back in a few weeks to have the piece colored in. On a personal note, I just want to mention that Paul was super friendly, as was everyone else I met and dealt with on the phone. That is a big plus in my book when it comes to a tattoo studio. I'm struggling to even know where to begin with Bijou because this tattoo shoppe is the epitome of everything I could want in a tattoo shoppe. I think that statement alone is enough evidence of the amazingness of Bijou, but I'll just go on and on because I am so in love and need to express that to the Yelper world! I'm a heavy researcher when it comes to most things, and especially when it comes to getting tattoos (regardless of how simple all of mine are) When researching Austin area shoppes on Yelp, I kept coming back to Bijou's page, and upon reading reviews about their high quality work and friendly atmosphere, I decided to try them out. I called Saturday morning to find out if they would have time for a walk-in later in the day. I spoke with Paul, who told me he would have a quick chat with the girls about my piece and see if they could squeeze me in. He called me back promptly and gave me the go ahead since it was such a simple piece.I went in around early evening. Paul greeted me warmly, and everything was  amazing from that point on. I already had a design, so we just had to pick the sizing and placement. During that time, I browsed through their gallery books, all of which were filled with great work. The tattoo process itself was so enjoyable. I had a friend who joined me, and she, myself, and Paul engaged in the best conversations I've ever had with a tattoo artist while being worked on. Paul was so easy to talk to and is an incredibly open and genuine person, which in turn put me more at ease than I've ever been while getting a tattoo. The work itself is impeccable; it's more beautiful than I even imagined it would be. On top of this great experience, he charged a very modest price and because of that, I had the flexibility to tip generously, which I LOVE being able to do for someone who deserves it. Overall, the studio itself was a clean, cozy, and a gorgeous atmosphere to be in. The vibes were down-to-earth, positive, and very professional. Everyone there was so good-spirited, and conversations were jovial. I'm beyond pleased with my tattoo, which was also my first tattoo outside of my hometown, and I was very happy that it was a memory I was able to make with Paul and at Bijou. I have been coming here for a few years and I absolutely love everyone that works here. Megan is my main gal and I love her because she can pretty much read my mind. As in I was watching a wonderful 90's western called bad girls and decided I needed a cow girl tattoo! I called Megan and gave her three things: cow girl, Texas flag and gun belt. When I came for my appointment, she had drawn up exactly what I had in mind. Billy is also fantastic. She is by far the most incredible portrait artist I have ever seen. Although she can do just about anything, I had seen some portrait work and asked her to do one for me. It was a picture of my mom, who passed away in 2011, that my dad had taken in 1973. She worked on me quickly and efficiently and when I looked at the portrait I cried a little because it was literally my mothers face on my body. My next goal is to get a tattoo with Paul. Since I spend a lot of time in Megan's chair, it means I spend a lot of time bugging the crap out of Paul and watching what he's doing. He's an amazing artist and so funny. Tremendously professional. And, f-ing gorgeous work. The work that Claudia and Megan do is unbelievable! Their rates are at about $125 an hour and you can expect that they are booked solid two months in advance, but you get what you pay and wait for. And these ladies are worth waiting for! Just call Summer, their assistant to book a consultation. After that, you will set a date...in the far future...to get your appointment. Plan to wait for that date! Yeah, it sucks to have to wait that long when you finally decide to get that tattoo. But this is going on your body...permanently... you want to make sure you get someone that can do a job you won't hate looking at everyday!Oh, by the way, the Yelp hours on this place are wrong, so be sure to call first so you don't waste a trip.
