I typically don't write reviews, but when went to another shop and almost got the same quality of jewelry for double the price (plus) it's worth mentioning! 2 gorgeous barbells for 55$? That's a steal! Joey was the piercer that changed out my jewelry, she was such a sweet heart with a light touch! My sister and I went in yesterday after reaching out to Cody Jones, one of the in-house artists. Cody was wonderful from start to finish! He did a consult and even talked through some changes on the phone prior to coming in for our appointments. He really put both of us at ease  throughout the whole process! His calm and positive demeanor was so comforting before permanently adding something to our bodies! Ha. I got my first tattoo with Ben Dipietro. I loved him, he's this quirky little dude who makes you feel at ease and confident in his abilities. Definitely recommend him if you're nervous about getting tatted. We had an initial 'consultation' to discuss ideas. I kept changing my mind and made him redo the sketch over and over, but he was so patient and understanding throughout the entire process. I've had my tattoo for about 4 months now and I love it. Ben actually used this textured needle for the shading on a whim, and it's one of my favorite parts. I'm glad he surprised me with that bit because I definitely wouldn't have known to ask for it or to say yes if he had asked. I've also gotten my piercings switched out here before. I've found it's one of the only shops on burnet that will allow you to bring in your own earring and switch it out for you. They charged me $5 for each switch. Incredibly reasonable. Not sure why these guys have negative reviews? All of my friends and I love this shop. Read Less

My daughter wanted a belly button piercing. I read reviews after reviews on numerous places. I was most impressed with Atomic. I called to discuss it and the woman I spoke with (I did not catch her name sadly) was very helpful, honest, and had great advice about piercing. She clearly knew I was clueless. Andy was professional and treated my daughter with respect and professionalism. He was meticulous about placement. He explained everything he was doing so she wouldn't be surprised. Afterward, he explained in great detail how to care for her piercing. He took time to care about her feelings (making sure she wasn't dizzy). The entire place was spotless! Went in for a couple of Dydoe piercings and spoke with Dutch. I should have known to leave when he said he was unsure of what type of piercing I was talking about. I showed him a picture and he said sure no problem he could do that. Dutch assured me he had been piercing for over 20 years and that the names of piercings had changed over time which is why he didn't know what I was talking about at first. First piercing went in no problem, 2nd piercing I immediately felt pain and Dutch had to force the end ball onto the curved barbell. Dutch assured me that my body endorphins was were racing on the first piercing but settled down which is why the 2nd piercing hurt so much. This skin was immediately swollen around the 2nd piercing but I just chalked it up to the piercing being fresh and thought that the swelling would go down later. When I got home and looked at the 2nd piercing, I noticed that the piercing had been done crooked and that there was a huge flap of skin folded under the piercing which was causing all the pain. I waiting 2 days and was still in pain so I went back twice and both times was told to take some pain medication and that I needed to speak with Dutch since he pierced me. I gave up and went to see another piercer at another shop and just had both piercings removed and repierced later on at my own expense. So I basically paid $190 for nothing here. Read Less

I have gone to this atomic twice times. I have seen two different artists and have to say that I love them. My first tattoo I went to platinum ink before the cheap specials and got the outline of a star. They screwed that up. Since then I have always gone to atomic. They charge higher than other places but you can eat off the floor and the artists I have gotten were always super friendly. The front will be rude sometimes because there are always people in there window shopping looking for reasons to get a tattoo. Tattoos are for life and if you don't already have an idea what you want then you shouldn't be there except to look at their work and decided who you want doing it. I've had tons of friends go here too and do with me and get tattoos and they love them! I'm also the kind that passes out with blood being drawn too and I love this place. They are more than understanding of this and help joke around, tell stories, and make things so much more enjoyable for me. The missing star is for half the front desk man who is short but that's just how he is an then half price because they are high up there but the work more than makes up for it. I don't understand the negative reviews. I think it must be rival shops. My friend lives in Austin and we both wanted to cover old, bad tattoos. We found Craig Sheets on the web and loved his work. I live in Yukon, OK and decided that it was worth the drive to get the tattoo I wanted. I'm so glad I did. I got a half -sleeve Greenman and it is wicked. I get so many compliments. Craig is an amazing artist. My friend's tattoo is just beautiful. The shop is clean and very friendly. I've been to shops in several states and this has been my best experience. I highly recommend this location and Craig. I'm thinking about having my other arm done and I will be heading back down to Atomic. Read Less

I would highly avoid this place. I went in to get a simple tattoo. Not only was Jason rude, but looked like he had a hangover. He spent more time stopping what he was doing, which was work, and spent more time txt messaging on his phone. He work is shoddy at best. ATOMIX on Burnet and Ronny Veritas? 5 F'ING STARS! This dude tattoo'd four words on my sister's foot, and made ME (who wasn't even getting a tat) feel like a welcomed guest. He was professional, explained each step to her (and me), cut jokes, and really gave us an overall GREAT experience. I will be back to have mine done by Ronny next week, and wil tell everyone I know how great this dude is. If you are new to the beautiful world of tat's.... Ronny is you guy. He is at the Burnet Lane store (and by the way, this store is so clean you could eat off the floor!). In 2000, I moved to Austin the & wanted to mark the occasion by getting my 1st Tattoo. I drove by Atomic North dozens of times and finally decided to check it out. I looked through a portfolio by an artist named ""Tim."" (He's not there anymore thank God!) His portfolio looked respectable and I had a picture of the exact tattoo I wanted, a tribal Shark Circle. I thought it would simple enough and paid $90. ""Tim"" then proceeded to deface my chest deeply and tattooing his square version of my drawing larger than the drawing, off center without even stenciling or drawing on me 1st, Being a 1st timer I thought this was normal. There was so much blood, he cut deep,a and it was on my chest so I couldn't see what he was doing. It hurt like hell. When ""Tim"" was done I had a square tattoo instead of a circular one in the drawing i gave him. I was in shock that this jerk would deface my body so badly rather than refer me to someone who knew what they were doing. The owner of Atomic North saw the picture and theTim's horrible results the next day. None of the shark fins or tails were the same size and it looked nothing like the drawing. The owner actually gave me a full refund because ""Tim"" did such an awful job. But I've had to live with this monstrosity for 10 years now, and it sadens me whenever I look at it. There was no L.A. Ink show back then. Kat Von D & Cory Miller, 2 of the best tattoo artists in the world, will DRAW FREEHAND on someone occasionally, and then OK it with the client, but they never ever TATTOO FREEHAND. If only show like L.A. Ink existed in 2000. I ran into ""Tim"" at the old Ritz Club on 6th months later and he tried to talk to me. I said simply, ""I recognize you. I don't ever want to talk to you. You ruined my life."" I hope ""Tim"" is out of the tattoo business am disgusted with Atomic North for hiring someone so inexperienced who has scarred me for life with an awful tattoo! I went to Christ a little over a year ago and got my husbands name tattooed on my rite inner forearm. HE DID AN AMAZING JOB on it...totally exceeded my expectations! It was only my 3rd tattoo so I was a little nervous but he totally made me feel at ease shooting the s*@t and cracking jokes and was NOT unprofessional ONE TIME!! My brother in law stayed with m while I was getting it done and he LOVED the work so much he is going to Chris when he is ready for his second. My best friend and I are going in next month to get matching tattoos and using Chris. So is my husband when he gos in to get our 4 kids names done. I have never been to Atomic but after reading all these reviews I have to let people know about a much better place. I have gotten all my tattoos and piercings at Ressurection Tattoos in Austin at Lamar and Oltorf. They price much cheeper, they quote you on your tatt, they dont charge by the hour. I got a solid tribal design on my back, a 4 1/2 hour job done for $250! That was my first tattoo and after that i have had the same guy, Roger, do all of mine: my back, both arms half sleeved and even a free one on my calf. They are very friendly and cool and most reasonable and provide great advice and feedback and touchups are always free! Piercings are much cheeper too, I have had 9 piercings from them. They have really grown since the last time I was there and for good reason. With them there is no need to worry about the cold shoulder or rudeness. Read Less

I walked into Atomic and the guy at the counter asked what I needed I told him I wanted to get a tatoo told him I allready knew kind of what I wanted, but wanted to get some feed back from them since their the artist. I showed him where i wanted it and asked how much it would run more or less. He told me it really depends on size ( which I understand). He said $300-$400 and i told him ok. I asked him abouta different design and the guy freaks out he tells me "well how much did you think you were going to pay" ( this is my first tattoo and have no idea about the whole process). And I told him na the price isn't the issue i was just wondering if something else might look better b/c the guy was giving no feed back about what i wanted. I could see that he was allready annoyedand would n't even let me talk he had allready started interupting me when I was asking about a design i saw. And still I wanted to have it done the same day. Still after he was rude I was still wanting to do it. He told the other artist here why don't you thelp and make a stencil. Then the other artist is like well bring me in what your wanting and set up appointment we're busy. The guy had been standing there doing nothing no one was there. Who knew this place existed?? NOT ME! My roomie went to atomic tattoo body piercing to get her eyebrow re-pierced. I was along for the ride--moral support and all that awesomeness. If you know me, you might find it entertaining that this is now the second time I've gone along for a piercing/tattoo excursion with a friend of mine. I have my ears pierced---once in each. That is all I will probably ever get. I don't really like pain, am very non committal, work in a conservative environment and am "el cheapo"SO I was intrigued to walk into this seemingly daunting piercing place to find a welcoming interior complete with *gasp* SHOPPING? WHAT? So while my roommate signed her life away and paid the piercer, I browsed adorable handmade dresses, vintage looking lunchboxes, moderately priced purses, and GREAT jewelery. Holy haven of things that are on the brink of too edgy for me, but fun to dream about buying.Fun concept, nice layout, phenomenal prices for the quality and wow factor of the merchandise. Read Less

A friend and I both wanted to get tattto's, not simple one's eihter. We were greeted by a gentleman who was cool but then he dumped us off on 2 other artist. I felt ruched to pick out what I wanted on my lower back. When i finally picked it out he gave me a price for modifying my othr tattoo plus the new one on my lower back. I gues he thought i didnt have the money to spend becasue i caught him by surprise when i said ok let's do it. So then he walks to the back and doesn't really tell me anything.After about 10 minsuites I realize he is just sitting back there chatting with the other artist and sot even drawinng up my tattoo. I am a lil pissed off Imean a ttatto is forever and if he doesnt even have sommon courtesy to nake me feel comfortable about him why would i want him to tattoo me. Thank god my friend said lets just go he's not even paying us any attention or anything so we left and went to another tattoo shop that I was very pleased with. This boutique shares space with Atomic Tattoo Body Piercing and houses some very Quani-esque clothing.  I've been intrigued for a while and finally made the venture (after some Amy's Ice Cream) a couple nights ago.Looking into the windows, the mannequins are spendidly wearing the clothing and have tattoos painted onto the bodies.  Some amazing art work, I must say.  It does have a very boutique feel to it upon walking in, but I didn't feel uncomfortable or out of place at all.  You could also almost never tell that in a room mere feet away, people are having art permanently engraved onto their bodies (not that there's anything wrong with that...I have some, myself).  They have a selection of curiously funny lunchboxes, cute lingerie, body jewelry, and lots and lots of t shirts and tank tops (as I said, very Quani-esque).  The t shirts and tanks all had witty pictures/designs on them.  I'd definitely shop here, if things weren't quite as pricy.  Not incredibly expensive, just a tad more than I'd typically pay for these types of things.  There's also some clever male t shirts and whatnot.The staff seemed willing to help you out, but not pushy in any way shape or form.  There was also some kind of small dog running around, but not getting in the way or being yappy.Another place I'll come back to.After I get paid.
