Found Taylor on Instagram and decided to give him a try to add on to my existing tattoo. My existing tattoo is a mountain and the artist did not do a great job making it fit on my arm so I was a bit insecure about showing it off, I went to Taylor to see if he could make it flow better. He did so good!!! I love it even more and it was exactly what I imagined. Not too mention the Backstreet Boys Taylor was blasting while tattooing, it made me less nervous about getting my tat lol. I walked into this place to get two tattoos. It took about an hour for them to draw out my tattoos and plan everything out. After waiting another hour I was told that the person who is doing my tattoos machine broke. They then offered a man named Josh to do my tattoos. Although he worked efficiently and did a good job, now that I'm looking a little closer the font of my first tattoo did not come out looking like the font that I showed them. For example, the tail on the v, I really want to know where that came from? It isn't horrible, but I will most likely have to get it touched up to look the way I wanted it to. Second tattoo was nice , but even after having the man touch up the drawing three times because he wasn't getting the details I asked for, the tattoo still ended up not looking like I wanted. It looks nice, but it's missing a lot of the details that were even on the drawing. I just don't get how someone can permanently tattoo something on you that you didn't ask for.. Honestly I never really do bad reviews unless I really really have to. Well here it goes, I set up an appointment with Carlos M. because I was highly recommended by a friend and I admired his work so I decided why not give him a shot? Indeed I was wrong. His Professionalism was nonexistent. We agreed that I pay him the $400 as a flat rate and not hourly and I Basically needed him to finish my half sleeve that needed coloring and clouds etc. We set up our appointment mid 2017. He has been ignoring my texts and Dm's to finish the tattoo and Its been over 6 months now. To start off, he probably had  one of the most messiest stations I have ever seen in my life, Gosh this dude looks like he hadn't taken the trash out since 87', there was crumbs everywhere, etc. Not even the tip of the Iceberg yet, as this guy was tattooing me, he yawned every 2-3 seconds. It was so frustrating cuz he had to stop every 2-3 seconds as well. When push comes to shove he calls his coke dealer and takes 3 bumps in front of me with his dealer. Tattoo shops open at 1pm!! You had plenty of time to rest its not like its 6am kind of job jeeze. He finishes about 11pm and he tells me to come back to finish it some other day which was fine until he pulled this BS with me! I was temporarily in Dallas and picked Iron Dagger by searching for reviews, they did not disappoint.The building is super cool, clean, and very comfortable. The place has individual rooms, so you gain a level of privacy and you can focus on your thing.I did a walk-in about 6pm just to discuss my tattoo with someone, and the staff was pretty responsive and hooked me up with Craig Chaney.Craig is awesome. He reviewed my proposed tattoo, some specific Kanji I had chosen. I asked for input if he had thoughts on enhancing it, and he proposed a cool idea but did not push it on me. We went with the Kanji, and he said we could build it out as discussed after the Kanji healed up if I wanted... This was cool because I could focus on what I came in for, but had time to think about if I want to go further.Craig was really professional, and also friendly and genuine. He didn't have any attitude whatsoever, which is always a concern to me. He also had really good communications, where we had to change the appointment, and he was responsive as well as communicative. Really appreciated it.When I did come in for the actual work Craig was good to go. We discussed some minor change to the tattoo, and he reworked it really quick and we got going. Craig was really communicative about what he was doing each step along the way as he did my tattoo. He also conversed a little bit, but not too much... just right to keep me awake, lol.It's been a month now, and I am really happy with my ink. I am definitely going back to Iron Dagger, and specifically Craig to build out my tat further. So looking forward to it. decided to pop in on a whim and get over my first tattoo anxiety. worm (Jesus Moreno) was super helpful and patient talking me through what I wanted and came up with a design that I loved and did an excellent job with it. it's on my ribs so the pain was pretty intense but he made me feel comfortable and made it clear that if I needed a break he would be glad to stop for a bit. the price was very fair and I will definitely be coming back for future designs. Been here multiple times to get tattooed by Matthew Alan, who has been one of the nicest and most professional guys I've ever got a tattoo from. The whole shop if full of nice guys and it's always clean and I'm always promptly greeted by whoever is at the front. I've highly recommended this shop to multiple people. I have been to this tattoo shop a few times and always had a pleasant experience until I met Worm. My piercing was fine, and my friends tattoos were always fine after leaving. The times I worked with Worm on a coverup and new tattoo were less than good. My coverup, he later admitted he was drunk and he screwed it up. The second tat on my ankles did not look good when it healed. I had multiple unprofessional experiences with Worm, one included him going on social media and having a lot to say about me. Talk about unprofessional !!!! When I messaged him about it he blamed it on me, saying idk how to take care of a tattoo.... I have 6 other tattoos and all of them healed fine besides the ones he did. I scheduled an appointment with Martin weeks in advance to get a custom tattoo to represent Gemini twins. I had to travel to get this tattoo and I was very excited because it means a lot to me and I had the idea for months. My appointment was last Friday at 4:00 I showed up a few minutes early. I was immediately in love with the look of the shop and stoked to meet my artist. I was told he wasn't at the shop and they called him for me. He said he would be there within the half hour so I waited around with my friends until he got there. Long story short he showed over an hour late to my appointment. I was irritated but I brushed it off because I really loved the design he had for me. So I sat through the tattoo calmly and I loved the work he was doing so I thought it was well worth the wait. He told me it was one of his favorite pieces he has done. I payed full price for it despite having to wait that long. So I flew back home and I've been getting so many compliments on my tattoo and it's truly meaningful to me. But this morning I saw that he had tattooed the design he made for me on somebody else. I know that technically it's not tattoo copying between artists but I never meant for my tattoo to become a flash piece for other people to put on their bodies. Read Less

It was really irritated and painful, so I went back to the original shop to get it removed but the piercer wasn’t there. I saw that Iron Dagger was close by, so I went in to see if someone there could remove it. The guy who greeted me was really nice and took me up to see the piercer, Taylor, who was tattooing someone but said he’d be with me as soon as he was done. Once he finished tattooing, he removed the jewelry within a couple minutes and also told me how to treat the keloid to get it to go away. I didn’t actually get tattooed or pierced but the place was really clean and had a really chill vibe. Awesome customer service and I’m sure I’ll be back! Read Less

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Allen Paulson has done an outstanding job on finishing up my arm In a single 7.5 hour session. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the work done here. I also have to boast about Taylor Moran, he has done a few pieces on the same arm that really helped tie everything togather. Me and my girlfriend came down from Oklahoma City, OK to eat and get tattoos here in Dallas! When we saw the pages and reviews over Iron Dagger tattoo shop we knew this was the one we had to go to! As soon as we arrived, we were helped immediately and everyone was very friendly! On top of the awesome customer service (and beautiful building also!) our tattoo artists Matt and (sadly I didn't get the other guys name) were very knowledgeable and creative! Even though they were working with the same design for me and my girlfriend (getting matching tattoos), each artist used their own style and art skills! Iron Dagger is everything you want from a tattoo parlor. It's clean. The staff is all friendly. The waiting area is filled with comfy couches, but they don't need them because I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The whole place is immaculate and well organized. The artists are all talented, and pricing is great. Besides, why would you want to be cheap when it comes to something that will be on your body forever? Allen is by far my favorite, but all the artists are awesome. The one downside to Iron Dagger is that they have not found a way to make tattoos magically heal in a day. Carlos is a wonderful artist. I sent him a couple pictures and my ideas for a sleeve. I arrived, from Utah, for my appointment with Carlos. His drawing and interpretation of what I wanted exceeded my expectations. My tattoo has a way to go to be finished, but I'll be making trips to Dallas until it is finished. It's taken me long enough to write a review about this place but since I've become a client I've been pierced and tattooed by 3 of the guys in the shop and friends with nearly all of them. I don't have enough good things to say. Taylor has tattooed me 4 times, 3 smaller tattoos on my arm and 1 large piece that required several sessions on my sternum. Taylor has always been kind and super accommodating before, during and after tattoos. I even contacted him with concerns on aftercare and he's always been helpful and professional. Not to mention the quality of his work is personal and beautiful and he does everything he can to help the client feel comfortable and 100% pleased with they're tattoo. I have also been tattooed by Juan. The tattoo was easy, painless and healed beautifully. Juan is also the nicest guy.. but don't tell him I said that. And of course Craig who did my cartilage piercing. Calm, soft spoken, and again, actually one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone of my family or friends and have already done so. If your are a new client I would recommend checking out the shop Instagram first to find the artist who you feel best suits you and call ahead to set of a consolation or contact the artist directly. But walk ins are always welcomed considering that's how I became a regular. It's a shame people jump to yelp to complain about things completely irrelevant to tattooing. You need to be patient with your artist and realize that they too are humans and not art making machines. But really doe, like really doe. These dudes care about what they do. You can tell that each artist is passionate about their craft. Sure there are a lot of tattoo shops around Dallas. I've never been to a shop where I have had a personable experience like the one I had at iron dagger tattoo. I had ideas for a custom tattoo and they really made it come to life. Jon took my tattoo where I always wanted it to be. I got work started on a half sleeve about 5 years ago while in Alaska. The artist wasnt what I had hoped and the piece fall flat, and became expensive, with the outline not even being finished in about 4 hours time. Jon took a 2 hour session and turned it completely around. I don't know about the rest of this shop but Chris totally screwed me over. Met him. Told me he could do the work. Told me to put a deposit down. Flaked out like 3 times on me. Lied all over the place. Asked him if he just wanted to call it good and drop the appointment and give me back my deposit. Ignores me. I go in the shop and they act like I'm completely putting them out. They call him and he answers immediately then the dude at the counter just says that I have to call him to get my money. But he was the guy at the counter that I gave the money to in the first place bc Chris is barely ever there. I asked to talk to the owner of the shop and he just said he wasn't there, too bad man. So I just said screw it. These guys have no integrity and have a bad attitude about tattoo customers. I was going to move on and let them have the $100 bucks bc I didn't want to seem like a complainer. But I got thinking about it I got upset thinking of how many other people they have probably ripped off at this shop by complete us management. Bad things happen to bad people. Maybe Chris wouldn't have so many personal issues if he didn't rip people off and bring all that negativity into life by his own fault for not being an honest organized hard working tattoo artist. I know a lot of people in the industry, more successful than anyone in this shop and no in Dallas has heard of this Chris guy or iron dagger. So be careful. Their are too many great shops in this town that would love to treat you with respect, that know how to run a business, and probably don't have bad reviews. Get a tattoo from anyone but Chris. My husband and I came here a few days ago to get some work done on the spur of the moment. They welcomed us and were very patient with my husband not really knowing what he wanted. Came in to get a tattoo from Taylor. I made an appointment with him and he was always gracious and accommodating. I didn't get any sleezy vibes from him like you might from other artists in DFW. Taylor makes you feel very comfortable and is a genuinely nice guy. Not to mention the tattoo is clean and exactly what I was looking for.All the other guys who worked there were super kind, too- no one was dismissive or rude, which happens as a young girl getting tattooed sometimes. While the Addison area has no shortage of talented tattoo artists, they seem to be more concentrated in the quaint little victorian-themed building that houses Iron Dagger Tattoo. Based on his previous work, I sought out Allen Paulson for my first tattoo. I had a lot of questions, but Paul was always very patient with me and put me at ease about my decision. Because of this rapport and the quality of his work, I felt confident enough to expand on my original idea to become a half-sleeve, instead. Inspired by my tattoo, my wife wife chose Allen for a large shoulder piece this last week, and couldn't be more pleased with the way he translated her inspiration into a beautiful design. I was recommended by a friend to go to Taylor (of any of the guys really) at Iron Dagger. It was my first tattoo and I was so nervous. Taylor was so helpful and honest with me about what would or wouldn't look good. I was getting a simple word on my arm, but it meant a lot that he didn't just create something that he knew wouldn't look good after a few years from being too small. I waited until I was fully healed up to write this review. I couldn't be any more pleased with my experience. I went in not quite sure what design I wanted and not quite sure o the placement I wanted, I just knew I wanted a black cat. I got an appointment set with Jon, who I believe is the owner. Originally I wanted to get a cover up tattoo done on my neck. I really liked the design he came up with but he convinced me that it probably wasn't the best idea to get a black cat on the side of my neck and I'm glad I listened haha. We ended up moving the stencil to my calf and they were super cool and accommodating about it. This place was amazing! I'd been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while & finally decided to get one last night! I called first before coming in, spoke with Taylor who was extremely nice. Very nice / clean / warm kind of feeling when first walked in. Taylor ended up doing my tattoo & as I was extremely nervous, he was so kind & ended up letting me play my own music to help my soothe my nerves. I am so incredibly happy with how it turned out!
