I got a tattoo done by James at 5th Element. I got a SWAT Operator Pin on my inside right bicep. He did an awesome job! There was a lot of detail and shading involved. I didn’t like any of the operator pin tattoos I had found online prior to this but mine is exceptional. My one-star review is based on the shop's customer service and policies, not their work. I called yesterday to inquire about making an appointment for Saturday, and was told that I had to come into the shop and pay a $60 deposit for the appointment. No problem. I drove across town during rush hour traffic to book the appointment, and when I arrived, I was told that booking the appointment required a $60 CASH deposit. I explained, card in hand, that I didn't have time to come back today with cash and was told, "Sorry." It would have been nice had someone a) told me on the phone that they only took cash, or b) made an exception since I clearly made the effort to comply with their policy. My husband and I probably would have been life-long customers, so I'm really disappointed in my experience. This was our anniversary gift to each other, and it really put a damper on our plans. I got my first ever tattoo from James. I think he did an excellent job on it. It was done on my left forearm and was a mamorial tattoo for both my mom and my dad that both passed away this year three weeks apart. The picture you see is of them. I am 41 years old by the way and like I said this is my first ink lol. I wanted to go back today and get James to do my second tattoo already on my right forearm of my daughter's name buuuuuuuuuut he is off today grrrr. My experience here was fantastic! James listened to my ideas and requests for my tattoos, and he delivered to an impressive degree exactly the general criteria I asked for. I make a point to give tattooers "artistic license" to add their own expert opinion to really bring my ideas to life, and to choose what colors they feel look best for my tattoos--James didn't let me down! I'm came to Nashville from Colorado to visit a friend for her birthday & wanted to get matching finger tattoos as a present. We walked into what seemed like a respectable tattoo shop near her house... Not at all! We explained we wanted simple designs on our fingers to the woman artist there & she rudely told us "No, I'm not doing finger tattoos because they're trashy." I have never been treated so bad at a tattoo shop! I would never recommend this place to anyone! I really hope that awful lady with the short ugly hair cut reads this- congrats for being the rudest a-hole I met in Nashville, you have the worst customer service & turning down business made no sense when your shop was completely empty! I asked for a tattoo and Instead of being professional and suggesting a different spot for the tattoo, the lady artist at the front desk said "I won't do that because it's trashy." I just got a tattoo from Jason....it took 5 hours and he was AMAZING! The tattoo, of course, hurt quite a lot! Through the entire tattoo he was very concerned that I was doing well, and wasn't in too much pain. He was light handed and very funny. He even stayed after closing hours to finish my tattoo in one session. The finished tattoo is stunning. He is going to be my go to artist from now on!Read Less

I highly recommend this shop! I received my custom tattoo from Jason. He was very patient and professional when trying to help me figure out placement and spacing of my tattoo. The ship was very clean and all the guys in the shop were very nice. I will go back to see Jason for another tattoo in the future. I'm also referring all my friends to him. I've put the shops business cards up in my hair salon that I own. That's how much I like my tattoo and impressed with the service I received.  One tip I would add is they take cash only so come prepared. This is an amazing studio with top quality artist!! The owner, Chris, did a coverup on an  old piece of flash art. Now I feel like I have an actual piece of art instead! The shop is very current, pristine, and the environment is very comfortable. A great place to consider for your next tattoo!!! I made an appointment a few weeks out to transform my first tattoo ever into something not embarrassing. First off I have consulted with over 20 studios over the past 5 years who were unwilling to help. I called in and spoke with the guys in the shop who understood what was necessary to get the job done and done good. I went in and Toot was my artist, he did a totally custom piece on my arm and we changed and modified it to what was going to work best. It was a 5+ hour session and the atmosphere was private, comfortable and cool. I have been to many shops that all they want to do is get you in the chair and on your way. This was not the case, Toot said it would take as long as it took for us both to be happy and that is exactly how long it took. I will be coming back here for every tattoo I get from here on!
