This is the place to go for the hands down best work in town!! Always impressed with the staff and the artists every time I go. This is most likely the best studio in the entire state. I traveled multiple hours out of the way to com to their studio. Tyler did a set of 12g nostril piercings on me about 3 years ago... This is the only place I would get jewelry or a piercing at in Knoxville. Tyler McClure and the rest of the staff are always friendly and helpful. I went in today for my second tattoo, my first at this shop. Even though I've gotten a tattoo before, I was admittedly nervous. The first time I got a tattoo I ended up getting a crippling migraine and so I was prepared for the worst. Today I had a tattoo cover up and rework done on a back piece I got several years ago. I had been unhappy with it basically since it was done and I was unsure what could be done to fix it, but after talking to Chris Allman and putting my trust in his creativity I could not be happier with the outcome! He has turned something I hated into a beautiful piece of art!!! He was amazingly professional and made sure it was exactly what I was looking for. He was kind and courteous alw...ays making sure I was okay throughout the session. He worked carefully always making sure I was comfortable and so efficiently that we almost got it all finished in the first session. I was there for close to 4 hours but time flew by. He is hilarious and we laughed the entire time which really helped too!!! I can't wait to go back to get the finishing touches done soon! I can't stress this enough: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. When it comes to permanent tattoos and piercings, saving up and paying a little extra for Born this Way will go a long way. Every artist and piercer is out for your best interest, and will not tattoo or pierce something on you that won't look good in the long run. While some people find this irritating, I find it comforting to know that the experts at Born This Way care more about finding the tattoo/piercing that's right for you than they care about taking your money. Trust them!!! I've had two piercings by Tyler McClure (awesome, skilled, wonderful calming presence) and a tattoo by Emily Walker (amazingly talented, beautiful style, NO complaints about my ink and still looks beautiful to this day). I've already had to have a piercing re-done by Tyler (since I went somewhere else to save money - bad idea!!!) and booked a cover-up with Emily (again, you get what you pay for). I've learned my lesson, so take my advice and head to BTW for whatever you need! High quality jewelry, studio quality unlike any other in the Knoxville area... I could go on and on. Tyler Bernard did my Daith piercing. He did an outstanding job. It has been an awesome experience. There was a quick pinch, a little pressure then it was over. I have had no pain whatsoever! It looks fabulous. I am following the aftercare instructions faithfully. I want it to heal well and do not want an infection. I chose BTW for my piercing because I got my amazing tattoo there several years ago by Jon Goad. I had a wonderful experience then. BTW is immaculate and all the staff are extremely professional. It's close to where I live. It's Very clean, by far of all the shops I've been in. They have a perfect score, and they have a rewards system. My only advice for them is having herbal tea is an awesome idea but the hot water spout don't work so it's hard to have the tea. Suckers it awesome but maybe an alternative like mints would be even better. The only other thing is if somebody has never been there before who ever is working the front should offer advice and explain why there's such a wait when it don't seem to be busy. Be a little more friendly and talkative, to the people waiting not just those checking out. I'll definitely go back here though if I have anything else done.Read Less

I went in yesterday to start my half sleeve with Chris Allman, and let me tell you I can't even describe how amazing it is. I've only done my first sitting and I'm already in love with it! It's already my favorite piece I've gotten and the best place I've ever been tattooed. I went in there Thursday 02/23/17 to get my foot tattooed a simple piece saying This Too Shall Pass. Everyone told me that it would hurt and that I wouldn't be able to do it but me being who I am I decided to do it anyways. So I get there get checked in and they send me back to the waiting area and out walks Chris Allman to talk to me about the tattoo well after all that gets taken care of he takes me back to start working on it. Needless to say 30 mins later I walk out with my new tattoo and an amazing tattoo artist. He was so friendly and personable. I will definitely be going back to him for more work!!!!! There are a lot of things in life that you want to sleuth out the best bargain deal.  There are also a lot of things in life that it really pays off to have a friend or family member in 'the business'.  Finding the right tattoo artist is neither of these situations.  If you want quality work that is going to last, you're going to pay for it.  Know that.  Accept that.  Find someone that has a reputation and portfolio, and shell out the dinero.  After all, this is the work of an artist.  Permanent work of an artist on your body.  When you walk into Born This Way, you will notice from the moment that you step through the door that this isn't your average tattoo/piercing shop.  It's very clean, professional, and, well, just cool.  Their jewelry that they have on display is of higher quality than most places in town.  Their staff is incredibly knowledgable and professional.  They don't give off the vibe of arrogance that seems to be the norm in a lot of shops.Now, if you want the best of the best (IMHO), book with Jon Goad.  You're going to have to book out about 5-6 months in advance.  Yes, he's that busy, but yes, he's that good.  His attention to detail and shading is unmatched in this fine city.  He works quickly and really listens to understand the style and look that you are trying to achieve.  I am beyond pleased with the work that I have received from him.  If his style isn't exactly what you're looking for, peruse the work of the other artists in the shop.  They all are of excellent caliber.  I trust no one else in town.  The end. A very professional setting and very clean. My friend came here to get a tattoo and I came for moral support? Even though she's gotten several tats already. Still, this was my first time that I've ever been in a tattoo parlor so definitely was worth the experience. *I DIDN'T GET A TATTOO SO AS FAR AS EXPERIENCE OF GETTING ONE BY THE ARTIST I HAVE NO IDEA*Of course, my friend already knew exactly what she wanted and when we got there it was pretty much a wrap. Picked out the design and went to the back to get it done. The room that we settled in was very clean with artwork all over the place. This place goes against the stereotypical tattoo parlor. The artist was very nice and the atmosphere was really chill. I was asked several times if I was going to get a tattoo and response I kindly said no haha. I did however ask if the peer pressure ever worked and the response was a confident yes! Hah. I enjoyed my time hanging out with my friend who got her tattoo and my experience hanging around the artists were pretty awesome.If I ever do decide (which probably won't happen) I'll definitely keep this place in mind.
