My friend had gotten a tattoo here on her ankle, a simple palm tree all in black and it looked awesome. I decided to come down the next day to get a small foot tattoo of a few water color fireworks. The artist asked for a picture of what I would like and i showed him, he told me to give him my phone so he could use it as a reference but when I came in the room he had nothing drawn and told me that he was thinking about it and he didn't have ro have a stencil because it was "simple". Well apparently not because the tattoo I have looks nothing like the drawing I had shown him. I am extremely disappointed with this tattoo and will be having it fixed as soon as it heals fully. I originally came into Dr ink to get a tattoo on my Bra line a year ago. I had Jeff. When healed, it was splotchy and slightly raised. I went back a year or so later and had Jeff again. He did a hammerhead on my back. It's fully healed now, but raised. A few days ago, I went to Another tattoo parlor and found out that my tattoos were so overworked that they scarred completely and will always be raised. I got the bra line tattoo covered up, and since it was all scar tissue, it's raised and can be easily seen through my cover up. Don't get me wrong, I love my back tattoo. But it's so raised and scarred and faded after not even a year. Highly disappointed. Don't recommend coming here. Read Less

I’ve gotten 5 tattoos at this tattoo shop and they’re amazing! The staff is so nice and always makes me laugh and feel welcome. I love coming here so much. My tattoos are seriously perfect and done so well by Jeff Sanders. He adds his creativity to my ideas and it makes the tattoo 100% better. This was my first machine tattoo (cover up) and Jeff gave me a truly beautiful and unique piece of art. Super clean, super chill environment, and creativity is everywhere in that place. Hurt way less than I thought it would. (Except for the outline, that was brutal lol) I'm absolutely in love with this piece. Top of the line shop, clean and staff was great. My mom wanted to get another tattoo so since I was here for last weekend of bike week I went with her to check the place out for her, the office manger (forgot her name she did have very pretty eyes lol) help us out and answer some questions my mother had until Josh was ready to see us. Recently got my very first tattoo...at age 57! Jeff was so patient and explained the entire procedure to me. Although it did hurt more than I thought it would (thanks to friends who told me I would barely feel it), I'm so happy with the memory of my grandmother that is now permanently on my arm. Paid $50 for a deposit. Held my spot for over two months. In that time emailed all my pics twice and asked for price quote & info on a cover up. Amir never or back to me. Once I was back in town two weeks before my tat appt., called 3times to get the info. No one ever contacted me so I called to cancel the appt. They wouldn't refund my $50 even though Amir (as the girl at the front desk told me) never drew up anything for my tattoo. They said they don't refund deposits. Just an FYI on their customer service. My brother and I walked in every tattoo shop on Seaboard to feel the vibes and peek inside to check for cleanliness, we quickly decided on Dr Ink as the best choice!Amir did a great job on my second tattoo, I cant remember why exactly i didnt have a print out of what I wanted but they gave me plenty of time to find it online there and print it out and get it sized up rightHe worked quietly and when times got tense and could feel my muscles tensing up he would give me a quick squeeze of my upper traps to release those muscles from tension,  (As a massage therapist, I sincerely appreciated this kind gesture) It healed nicely and still looks great about a year later-1 star because some chick kept walking in & out of his room to check on the status (Im assuming they were going out) and he would keep telling her how much longer, she was a friendly girl so it didnt bother me as much but still kind of rude, and distracting, go take a seat lady!Bottom line- I would go back to Amir and I recommend everyone talking about getting a tattoo to check him out My brother had a lady that I think was a guest, he was instructed to choose his font from a computer as he was getting his sons name His turned out OK, I look at it sometimes and think man, I was lucky to get Amir lolWhen we left he said he really wanted the name freestyled not some generic font on the computer, perhaps his mistake for not speaking up for what he really wanted Bottom line- will return to Dr Ink for my next tattoo   (please excuse my punctuation, my period key isnt working)   :0) Read Less

I can't review their piercings because we didn't end up with one.  The person working was one of the RUDEST people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.  He seemed to have NO interest in our business, so we didn't give it to him.  Piercings by Jackie next door was a close second.  Not sure what's wrong with these people...maybe we aren't locals?  Who knows but we've decided to go to our regular spot The Midnight Iguana In Athens, GA.  I'm so glad I didn't spend a DIME in either shop! LOVE these guys! I've gotten several piercings at DR. Piercing and my 2nd tat at Dr. Ink. All the guys are super chill and willing to talk you through stuff or just chat. Have stopped in just to chat and say hi to Brandon a couple times. Always felt comfortable getting pierced as everyone clearly knows what their doing and they pull fresh needles out right in front of you. Every piercing I got was as painless as it could have possibly been. The only negative thing I have to say is the selection of earrings, etc. is interesting, but kind of small.I had made an appointment for an altered/custom tat, but chickened out, only to call and reschedule again (I'm kind of a pain in the ass, I know). They were super nice about it and Amir ended up doing my tattoo, taking everything about the kind of color palate and look I was going for to heart. The line work is simply beautiful and, although he forgot an apostrophe, I love everything else about it. Wish I still lived in the area, because I'd be going back for all my piercings!(Also, the 5 for $50 party they have in the summer is SO worth it!)The parking lot of the whole strip needs to be redone though 'cause last time I was there is was COVERED in potholes, so just be careful about where you park. Mixed review since I've gotten different things. The piercing place was comfortable, clean, and nice. Jackie did my nose and made me feel super comfortable and it looked great. I totally recommend Dr. Piercing.Dr. Ink is definitely not your best bet in Myrtle Beach. It's overpriced and kind of dirty and some of the artists there were kind of weird and creepy, leaving you feeling pretty gross and uncomfortable. So I had an awful nose piercing experience at "piercing passion" which was connected to the tattoo parlor called "ink wave" (go to there yelp page to see that horror story)The piercing was half out of my nose and bleeding a lot. I was in so much pain. We went back to this plaza which was all tattoo/piercing parlors (how weird) my mother went into the shop to speak with the guy working there and he wanted to see me. I walked in and he told me he could help me out. He brought be to the back room where piercings were done, and took a look at it. he cleaned it up and removed the nose ring that was previously put in. He cleaned me up and fixed my piercing. it was painless! he was so so helpful and friendly. His name was Brandon. I RECOMMEND HIM! He asked me my favorite color and gave me that color diamond nose ring. how thoughtful! he did such a good job and made it look awesome. Have read all the reviews and cant believe a couple of them. Have had several pieces done by Amir at Dr. Ink in Myrtle beach and can say it was awesome. I have ink done in many states by many artist. Then decided on wich one to do the portrait of my grand daughter on my chest. I made the right choice on who was to do it. AMIR rocked it out. The precision and attention to detail was crazy, He was one annal artist. I now live on the west coast and have ben checking out shops here for portrait of second  granddaughter and have decided i am flying back to see Amir again. Yesterday I went to here to get my very first tattoo and cannot stop thinking about what an awesome experience I had!! I have been wanting this tattoo (a small wrist tattoo of the word 'Trust') for a couple of years now but was still extremely nervous. Like, could hardly breathe hands shaking nervous! I breathlessly explained to Brent my idea and used the adjectives "Dainty, but not too girly, edgy, but not hard core" etc. and just knew he was going to have no idea what I was talking about, but to my surprise he nodded confidently and said "Give me a second." When he showed me the sketch it wasn't what I had originally pictured - it was WAY better beyond anything I could explain with my lame adjectives lol. Anyway my point is, this tattoo is SO me, and I couldn't believe Brent was able to capture that after just meeting me for 5 min (Mad Skills!) He also, gave me great advice on placement and size which since I've never had a tattoo before was really appreciated!Arik, did the actuall tattooing and was super nice and gentle, he could tell I was nervous and made an effort to make me feel comfortable. Also, my best friend was allowed to come in with me which was total relief as I needed someone to laugh with and take pics! The space was open,  clean and bright, I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in.Overall, I'm so happy with my tattoo I could cry!  I was super worried that it wouldn't look perfect, but it does! Even though my tattoo idea was small and simple they treated it with care and respect . Thank you Brent and Arik for making my first tattoo so special!! There were a bunch of tattoo shops on the strip but I'm so glad I went to Dr Ink!! My husband and I came here to get our tongues pierced. We were both nervous, but everyone at Dr. Piercing made us so comfortable. We weren't nervous once they explained everything to us and showed us all the tools we were going to use. This was something we had talked about for years and I am glad we finally did it together. The employees took us both back together and sat us in chairs next to each other. We were on vacation with friends and wanted to find a good tattoo place. Unfortunately this place was NOT it. We made an appointment to start at 11, we got there and had to wait 45 minutes just to get started. My two friends and I had a small shell design already ready and was told they couldn't do color or make it any smaller. After waiting another 30 minutes they had one person done, then without even saying anything to us the tattooist sat down and ate his breakfast right in front of us! We waited another 20 minutes and then just decided to leave. Horrible service and the guys working there were assholes. We even heard the receptionist tell another customer that they don't do stupid tattoos and to go somewhere else! Amir took such good care of me.Ok, first of all, I walked into a few other studios (In Myrtle beach, all the studios are grouped together in one strip, so weird! Zoning...) none of them felt right until this place!Dr.Ink is CLEAN, and full of light.The girl had a big sweet smile on her face when we walked in. She was warm and welcoming. She told me it would be about 30-40 mins, which was fine.Amir would be the one available... So my friend and I took a look at his portfolio. His line work was many times intricate, and well done. I felt good about him.Amir came to say hello, I like his energy right away. I don't want someone with a shitty attitude putting something on me forever! I gave him the picture my love had drawn, a little black heart to go on the back of both of my arms. He said he would eat lunch quickly and be right back with us.He joked a lot, and worked really quickly. My friend was jewish, and we talked about his homeland of Israel. The work looked exactly like the heart drawn on paper, each of them flawless.+ Dr.Ink has a limo that will pick you up for your appointment! Now THAT'S CLASSY!
